Mission: To promote wellness in lgbt communities by providing health services, connecting people to resources, fostering arts and building community.
Programs: Hiv and std testing: providing hiv testing and education around hiv and std risk reduction. In 2017 gay city provided 4,592 hiv tests and more than 7,000 tests for other sti's. 400 clients were screened for our prep clinic, and 113 enrolled in the program.
health education and support services: connecting people through groups, forums, workshops and referrals to support services. Gay city provided referrals to 1,740 people through the lgbt resource and referral line and to dozens of workshops and groups, reaching more than 1,000 people. Gay city reached more than 10,000 people through targeted health education and messaging. Gay city houses an lgbtq center, and hosted 44 different lgbtq and hiv organizations for a total of 156 meetings.
gender justice league: gender justice league organized trans pride seattle with more than 9,000 participants, conducted more than 90 trainings to 4,000 participants on civil rights for lgbtq people, organized a washington state trans leaders summit, conducted free community legal clinics on identity documentation and produced a transgender medicine elective in conjunction with the university of washington school of medicine cedi. Gender justice league also serves with leadership of several community-based coalitions working to meet the needs of clients across washington state in areas of healthcare access, homelessness, employment discrimination, and incarceration.
