I was recently contacted by them and thought it was a scam
But after doing some research on them I found that they were a good organization that had donated for years to fallen officers families
I attempted to call them back but was unable to make contact
A week later I was at a law enforcement cigar night and asked cops there about them 2 of them were members they gave some info and found even more great reports about them so I gave them a $1000 donation and intend to that every year

When they called for a donation I wasn't to sure about them
Since I have a business in Jersey City I checked with a cop friend from JCPD
He told me they have given to some fallen officers families from their department and they are a good organization
So I donated $400 to them

Was a little hesitant at first to donate to them because I was scammed from a different Law Enforcement Group a year ago. When I received the phone call from I did not make a pledge, but I did send them an email through their website. I was contacted back in 24 hours by the Treasurer of the organization. He made me feel very comfortable and gave me some information regarding the organization. I did some follow-up research and they are a good organization so I made a $300.00 donation

I have received two calls from a paid fundraiser for this organization in the last 24 hours. When I told him the first time I would not donate and to stop calling he was very rude, but this last call took it to a whole new level. After again telling him I don't respond to paid fundraiser, he said he would have to publish my response to the media alerting them to the fact I don't support law enforcement and that I would regret this should I ever need their assistance. Absolutely despicable!!! After research I found that over 90 % of donations goes to pay his salary. Shame on you!!!

I had to ask the person calling to slowly repeat the name of this organization four times, all while I googled them and read about where the money they collect goes. First of all, about 90% goes straight into their pockets. They had "expenses" of over 931,000, yes that's almost a million bucks, which paid for their fundraising campaign. Imagine how much that could have helped an offer's family. For all of you kind hearts out there, please get your facts straight before donating. You have the right to ask what percentage of your donation actually goes for the aid. If it is any less than 75% - hang up. You should go to your local station and give what you can to these heroes, but not to the scamming scum bags that call and offer you a sticker for $35.00 - $32.00 of which they will spend on themselves! For every hundred bucks you give - some officer's family gets a whopping ten dollar bill!!! If I was the mother of these phone solicitors I would be so ashamed of them.

I received a call from this organization. Despite having an unlisted number they had my name and address. After listening to the explanation I politely responded that I was a supporter of my local PBA and asked that my number be removed from their call list. The caller became irate, sarcastically insulted me and abruptly hung up. Given the behavior I can only conclude this is some type in scam.

I was recently called by the organization and the caller was very pleasant and answered my questions to my satisfaction. So I did some research on them and it seems the reviews are mixed. So I contacted a cop friend of mine and he told me they are a legit organization and they donate a lot to the community and also donate to law enforcement families who have suffered the loss in the line in of duty. I contacted them back a gave them a $500.00 donation. ITS A GOOD CAUSE!!

SCAM. I work for a doctors office and my boss donated to this organization. One of my co-workers was pulled over and he gave the officer the card. The officer told him that this card is bogus and the organization is not legit. Unreal!

*** DO NOT DONATE TO GARDEN STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT ****
I received a phone call, on behalf of the doctor I work with, from "The State of New Jersey" yesterday afternoon. I took the call at the front desk and forwarded it to the doctor's back office. My doctor agreed to a donation in return for an ad, a plaque and other items. My doctor agreed to the donation over the phone and was told someone would be in to collect her check. She googled Garden State Law Enforcement and had hesitations to donating. This morning, she contacted me and stated not to have any one come in for donations. I contacted a local police officer in the town we work. He stated that only a little is donated to the cause and most of the donation is kept for the "Charity". I personally called the cell phone number my doctor was given by GSLEOA - the website offered no phone numbers - and left a message for them NOT to come to our office. Around 2 pm today we received a phone call from the "charity." I again told them not to come and told them I left a messge. Then around 4 pm a guy showed up at our office asking for the doctor. I AGAIN said that I left a message this morning, spoke w/someone on the phone - my doctor is not donating to them. About 10 minutes later we received an irate phone call asking if there is a check. I went over the fact that we left a message this morning, told the person that called around 2 and the person that walked in our office that the doctor is not donating. I told them not to call back about three times before they stopped talking and hung up.
This "Charity" gives a bad rap to other organizations trying to do good!

DO NOT DONATE TO THEM. THIS IS A LEGAL SCAM.
REAL LAW ENFORCEMENT DOES NOT SOLICIT OVER THE PHONE.
You'd be better off going to your local police website and donating to the PBA.

This scam artist group will call you and scare you by calling themselves "State of New Jersey" or "State Police" and then saying "Don't worry, you're not in trouble"
They are fast talking and keep saying that if you donate you'll get PBA cards to give to your friends and family.
They keep talking about going through green lights and stopping at reds. They will name drop your local chief of police even though they have no affiliation.
They'll give you sob stories about cop killers.
It's really shameful and give legit charities a bad name.
DO NOT DONATE TO THIS SCAM ARTIST RING.

After being called I said I would donate but after looking at their own site and the dispersement of funds, it doesn't look like a lot goes out as compared to what they must be taking in.

I was called by the GSLEOA. The first two were at night and were hang-ups. The 3rd after a wait was a human being. He started being very coy about who he was calling for. I told him how the previous calls were handled and asked to be put on the don not call list. He argued, was rude, told me it was impossible - "it was just a computer". When i persisted he hung up rather than comply with the law.

Sounds like a high pressure scam to me.

I checked the groups they claimed to donate to all of them replied that they were legit. they indeed do give financial aid to families of fallen officers throughout the state of new jersey although they are not directly linked to any local dept. this assoc is made up of police officers both active and retired from all over NJ.

This organization is nothing but a scam. Ask your local law enforcement officers if they benefit them or their colleagues, the unequivocal answer will be NO. If you're truly interested in supporting your law enforcement officers, and make a donation to your Local or State PBA. These telephonic thugs try to intimidate unwitting donors into a donation which ultimately fails to benefit a single copy or cop's family. Stay far far away. Do a simple Google search and read the multitude of stories about their scams before you let go of your hard earned money. I'm sure the only reason they're on this website is because they paid to be on here.

They called me and were very nice and when I aske them questions about what they do with donations they seemed to know where everything was going. I checked with people they say they donated to and they had nothing but the best of compliments for them so I made a donation of $1,000.00

My boss got a letter from these guys saying they had spoken with his father, who had pledged $25.00. They were nice enough to include an envelope to remit payment. Here's the problem; his father passed away 20 years ago. Smells like fraud to me. Tax records indicate that this is a much smaller organization than one might expect from a state. Wonder how much of their revenue actually goes to police organizations?

Whenever we approach this organization for a donation for the community they are always the first to donate and they are very generous. Other Law Enforcement you have to jump through hoops sometime for a donation.

In my book The Garden State Law Enforcement Officers Association is allright!!!
