My very first film festival (with a short film), and a festival I've returned to each year with a project. A warm, welcoming terrific festival that's only been getting more interesting, with better panels, better speakers-- even a better venue. GSFF is a must-do!
I've experienced GSFF as both an attendee and a film producer and every event is exciting, fun, and essential for the art community. Besides the annual festival, GSFF also sponsors other screenings at area theaters; and excellent way to experience local creative works throughout the year.
This was my first time attending The Garden State Film Festival. I had a great time, met a lot of people and really felt that New Jersey was doing great things for current film makers, and more importantly, future film makers. It is invaluable how encouraging it is to know that there are people out there who want to help you, support you and will go out of their way to make things happen. I look forward in being associated with them for years to come.
As a film maker and a judge, I found the contest as inspirational, and watching other filmmakers an education. We all have ideas about films, but to see how different people use the filmmaking tools is part of a learning process that is invaluable. Learning film techniques in schools is one thing, seeing these in action is a whole different and amazing level of learning, and Golden Door provides that
I had a wonderful and fulfilling experience helping set up the Gala Room for all the filmmakers and other guests. I also experienced some very interesting films that were professionally put together.
I left the festival with a feeling of fulfillment and joy.
Loved this festival! Met great people, the location is right there on the water, beautiful and fun to explore. The staff works extremely hard and really cares about what they do. Some great films too.
The GSFF is on a short list of extremely well-run film festivals. Diane Raver, Lauren Concar and Nick Falcone know how to run a spectacular and star-studded New Jersey gathering, for multi-talented artists worldwide. Acceptance Laurels from the GSFF don’t come easy, however, for those who earn that prestigious accolade, you’re part of an elite group of Filmmakers, Screenwriters and Musicians who know what hard work is all about.
Trust me, I know. I’ve been there many times as a composer and a filmmaker. The thrill of seeing or hearing your work, by thousands of festival goers, is a life-fulfilling artistic experience for sure. The Garden State Film Festival, New Jersey’s premier Film Festival. Give it a try.

I had an incredible experience at the Garden State Film Festival. I screened my first documentary feature there and they were so welcoming, accommodating and fun. I felt honored to have my film included with so many other great films. I went to many other festivals after that experience and I still consider the Garden State Film Festival to be a top notch fantastic and important event.
Garden State Film Festival is a great combination of films that delight the lucky residents of New Jersey. This 4 day movie screening is suitable for all ages and located on the boards of Asbury Park.
The Garden State Film Festival sheds a bright and nurturing light on new, talented film makers from New Jersey and beyond. GSFF celebrates the process of creating a film from inception to final product. Like the little engine that could, the GSFF has doggedly chugged its way to an ever increasing audience by virtue of wonderful films that are inventive and original, with a unique point of view and a singular voice. The GSFF is an organization with huge, welcoming arms and a an enormous amount of heart and soul.
Review from Guidestar
The artistic philosophy of the Garden State Film Festival is rooted in the celebration of the independent film genre and the creation of a forum where local and other independent filmmakers can exhibit their work. In addition, our event provides novice and aspiring filmmakers, actors, and others interested in a career in the film business, the opportunity to meet and network with industry professionals in an atmosphere that is conducive to learning and mentoring. See you at the movies!
