GTG is a dynamic theatre company with consistent outreach to its community in artistic and educational arenas. They consistently uphold their mission of keeping classical stories alive and well. The company has a proven track record of financial stewardship, having ended every year of their existence "in the black." GTG performs for tens of thousands of young people every year with hilarious children's theatre shows that educate, stimulate young imaginations and entertain. Additionally, they reach thousands of adults with energetic mainstage productions of Shakespeare and otehr classics. They have consistently kept their ticket prices far more affordable than most regional theatre companies. Beyond affordable is their annual "Free Shakespeare in the Park" show, which performs in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood in Harrisburg, PA and attracts thousands of audience members who might have no other opportunity to experience live Shakespeare or live theatre. The amount of time the company devotes to educational outreach is remarkable. Every full-time staff member has a critical role in the Theatre School program and every staff member is involved in educational outreach efforts, which include residencies, workshops and school touring performances. For many years now GTG has partnered with local, regional and national funding partners to deliver educational outreach to students at various schools in urban Harrisburg, bringing theatre experiences to economically disadvantaged youth. All of this is made more impressive when one realizes that the company does all of this with a skeleton crew of full-time Core Company Actors (who perform, teach, and do everything else required to keep the company humming and solvent) and on something of a shoestring budget. Also impressive are their shows, which are consistently excellent productions featuring energetic acting ensembles and vibrant interpretations of classic plays. One of GTG's Educational Outreach programs is called "Theatre Alive!" Truly, this growing company keeps theatre fresh, exciting, generous to its community, and very much ALIVE.
