Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services
Mission: Furniture Friends is a nonprofit organization that collects and provides donated household furniture to low- and no-income individuals and families unable to purchase items on their own. With ongoing support for the community, we are able to fulfill our mission of helping people "Create Homes. Rebuild Lives."
Target demographics: acquire and donate essential household furniture to people unable to afford it on their own.
Direct beneficiaries per year: over 580 families.
Geographic areas served: southern Maine
Programs: In 10 years of service, we have provided necessary household furniture (items like beds, bureaus, dining tables, chairs and sofas) to over 12,000 people (including 4,000 children) in southern Maine.
