Staff are always there for you, welcoming environment and easy to communicate to figure anything out. A lot of freedom when working on your own project, but still have important rules and help for safety. The town itself and local people generally welcoming and patient with foreigners at least in my experience.
Excelente trabajo para con la gente de esa comunidad tan necesitada. Mis felicitaciones para la fundación
Joined PLT for a couple of weeks in the summer and I am in awe of this organization. Their resilience is incredible and it is clear how much they love the communities they work with. They are doing amazing reforestation work and environmental education programming. I learned so much from them in a short time and am so excited to see what they will continue to accomplish.
Words cannot describe how incredible working with PLT is! This past summer I traveled to South America for the first time for grad school (with Miami University’s Project Dragonfly) and had the opportunity to work with PLT to learn about eco-leadership and the realities of conservation in Paraguay. From exploring the Atlantic forest, observing Howlers in Pilar, and meeting the most energetic kids at various schools we visited, I was truly changed by my experiences with PLT for the better. They are incredible people that deserve all the respect and support in their mission to educate and empower their community in knowledge about their home and selves. Every member of the team is passionate, caring, and resilient. They continue to do research and build up their community in the face of many challenges, supporting one another every step of the way. I cannot recommend a better team to be a part of or support.
I spent two weeks with PLT for my graduate program. They taught me about Paraguay, conservation, and how much passion, time, and dedication it takes to change the world. PLT continues to find new avenues to teach others about the precious environment they live in while making sure all voices are heard and appreciated. They are truly amazing people!
I spent 2 weeks with Para La Tierra in Paraguay as a graduate student. Every single person in the organization was knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to work with myself and the other grad students I was traveling with and help us learn. It is evident how much everyone in PLT cares about conservation and communities.
I spent two+ weeks with PLT for graduate school and it was an amazing experience. The staff are caring, passionate, and experts in what they do. The impact they make on not only conservation in Paraguay, but on support for their local communities is immeasurable. Thank you PLT for all that you do for Paraguay.
I have been taking graduate students to Paraguay for nearly 10 years. This foundation embodies scientific progress, and the leader in helping the world understand the ecological importance of declining habitats in the country. They are also the lead educator in these matters, working to bring scientific literacy to schools across Paraguay, and supporting changes in education policies. They are among the best group of humans I've had the pleasure of working with!
I spent over two weeks during my graduate program with Para La Tierra in July of this year. During that time the staff, interns, and volunteers shared their expertise and passion for the mission of the organization. My knowledge of what is happening in Paraguay was greatly increased because of the efforts that this organization has made and the stories they shared with me. Fantastic organization and people!!!
I was an intern with Para La Tierra for three months and I had such a great time! The people were so kind and supportive during my entire stay there. I got some awesome insights into the work they do to protect the environment. I would absolutely go there again!
I loved volunteering with Para La Tierra! I was able to get involved with several different project and gain skills in identification and data collection. I especially enjoyed the optional trips to different parts of the country, and the staff and interns were so friendly and helpful!
I visited PLT as a graduate student learning about applied conservation and was blown away by the incredible work they’re doing. From studying hooded capuchins in the fragmented Atlantic Forest, to hosting eco clubs to foster a connection to nature, PLT is transforming the social-ecological landscapes where they work. The most impactful moment of my time with PLT was being invited to Mberu Pirapo’i, an Indigenous community that PLT is supporting through a reforestation project (among other things). The people of Mberu had taken initiative to protect their yerba mate seedlings from frost, and that simple sight held promises that families will be able to make a living off selling their yerba mate and that the area will once again be home to greater biodiversity someday. Thank you for everything you do, PLT!
The work that this organization does to support communities and wildlife in Paraguay is truly inspirational.
My masters program class visited Paraguay and worked alongside PLT for a couple weeks, and they are the most wonderful group of people I’ve had the pleasure of working with! What they are doing for the local indigenous communities and the environment is very inspirational and you can tell how much this means to each of them. It was an awesome experience working with them and seeing all the great things they are doing for the country.
Para La Tierra is a force of nature. Not only are they passionate and driven, but the work they do makes a real tangible difference off the people in the communities they work with in addition to the local Paraguayan environment. I have heard people in the villages they work with say that they are the only group that follows through on their promises and actually works to make their lives better. Other groups just come in for photo ops. It's so inspiring to see this group in action.
Para la Tierra is such an amazing organization! I had the amazing opportunity to learn and work in depth with para la Tierra for my grad school program and I learned SO MUCH about the local wildlife such as the capuchins, howlers, and the conservation of the Atlantic forest. and they do AMAZING work--their intern program brings students from all over the world to do impactful, publishable research. I was also so inspired by their work with local schools, teaching children about nature and conservation at their level. They even have a program called Voces de la Naturaleza that helps schools create eco-clubs and provides them with a science curriculum to teach kids about the environment. While I was working with Para La Tierra I got to visit some of their frequented schools and play some of the educational games they'd created with the kids and it was so obvious the impact this has on the kids. Para la Tierra is seriously upping the conservation game in Paraguay!
Para la tierra is a beautiful organisation, where you can broaden your own interests and fully dive into your specific subject with which you have an affinity.
It's nice to see how the projects they set up really have an effect on the community. And to be an part of such a project (even for a small time) is an amazing experience. The amount of collected knowledge about all natural facets makes that you can learn a lot here. Next to the biological spectrum it is a place with a nice atmosphere in a very nice spot in Pilar.
I lived with Para La Tierra for three months and loved my time there and the people I lived with. During my stay I studied burrowing owls and the impact cattle have on there behavior. I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in studying abroad to consider Para La Tierra.
Because of them we do know more about animals specially monkeys, and communities around work together to proyect our forest, monkey's home
I was an intern at Para la Tierra for 2 months, in which I had the privilege to meet a lot of great people and learn more about my field and research. Everyone at the foundation, from the staff to the interns, is fantastic at making you feel welcome and also helping your academic and professional growth. The supervisors do a great job at setting your research on the right path so you can write a successful paper. The location is fantastic for primatology as well as other biological fields as there is a large amount of biodiversity within walking/biking distance to the foundation. Housing is fantastic, with either a dorm room or private rooms, both of which are of great quality. There are 2 delicious meals (lunch and dinner) cooked every day, and the kitchen has food (bread, cereal, oats, etc) available for breakfast. Pilar is a beautiful and very welcoming town that has a good amount of activities available! I was able to learn a lot of new skills that will help my career in the future, and I have and would recommend this program to anyone interested in primatology or natural sciences!
I was an intern, and this experience absolutely incredible. I grew as a scientist, found what area I wanted to specialize in biology, and got to enjoy the beauty of the Paraguayan wetlands. The staff were wonderful and became friends with the other interns/volunteers. It was a great, welcoming, fun environment.
The work Para la Tierra does in Paraguay can only be described as amazing. Their conservation efforts, work with indigenous communities and nature education are inspring and exemplary.
A great organisation and group of people, doing the right thing for the environment, and making everyone feel welcome. I learnt so much in my time there. I highly recommend PLT, even if you have no previous experience!
Parra la Tierra was my first experience in scientific field research and it really solidified my interest in Biology: its location allowed me to get to know the wonderful nature and people of southern Paraguay. I also realized what lovely and supportive people you can meet in this area of work.
I extend my greatest gratitude to the PLT station, as it was one of the most fun and educating experiences of my life !
Para la tierra is a fantastic organization with fantastic people.
It gave me hands on experience in biological research and it helped me immensely.
My time there was great and life changing, i am so happy with my decision to go to paraguay and help these awesome people do awesome things.
The whole experience was amazing from start to finish with so many experiences that you otherwise not get the opportunity to have. Staff are helpful with your interests and progressing the project you chose whilst in Pilar.
You can also get a chance to help other interns with their projects and also expand your own interests in the surrounding biodiversity, not just focusing on species in your own project. It is great thing to do when you want to beat the crowds and boost your CV, with many transferrable skills.
I only spent a short while with PLT but in that time, they have shown me how incredible they are. PLT is full of wholesome and holistic people that devote so much to research, conservation, and education in Paraguay. They offer incredible opportunities to all who have the pleasure working with them.
During my internship at Para la Tierra, I was able to develop and carry out a personal project on wetland conservation that gave me valuable field experience as a future biologist, but also made me grow as a person. The four months I spent there were filled with amazing animals, incredible landscapes and unforgettable memories with wonderful people. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be impressed by nature, and help protect it!
Besides the fact that I met the most amazing people during my stay, with whom I hope to remain friends for the rest of my life, but I also learned more than I could have dreamed. The opportunity to carry out your own scientific project at Para la Tierra, from design to publication, is what makes them unique. You are always offered help if you need it, but you are also given the chance to explore your own abilities and are able to improve your skills. You are not obligated to do anything, but at the same time there are many opportunities. I wouldn't change my time at PLT for anything and if I could do it all over again, I would.
