I am a sixteen year member of the original Ft Lauderdale Gay Men's Chorus (South Florida Performing Arts, now Ft Lauderdale Performing Arts which also includes the Ft Lauderdale Women's Chorus). We were the first gay performing arts organization in the State of Florida - founded in 1986. In addition to performing three major concerts each year, for the past several years we have cooked and served food for the annual Children's Home Society Easter Egg Hunt. We have gone caroling at Nursing Homes and the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, FL and provided a holiday luncheon for clients and families of Broward House, an AIDS Service Organization in Ft Lauderdale. We also sing at World AIDS Day services and holiday tree lighting ceremonies for local communities. We make a big effort to give back to the community which has supported us over the years. It has been a great satisfaction to see and hear the responses that we receive and know that we are being appreciated for our civic engagement efforts.
