Mission: As the only public museum in bandera county, the museum is committed to serving as an educational and cultural resource for the residents of bandera county and our visitors. The museum's mission is to honor the vision of its founder, j. Marvin hunter, sr. , and to preserve and interpret the cultural heritage of bandera county and the surrounding hill country.
Programs: The museum hosts field trips to area schools and homeschoolers in which students are given activities to complete;the museum provided traveling history trunks which are portable units that are brought to the schools to be used in the classroom to enhance school curriculum;the museum provides afterschool programs to the boys & girls club of bandera county;and the museum hosts cultural and educational programs for adults and children such as lectures and a monthly cowboy camp musical performance,national day of the american cowboy celebration,and other special events. The museum provides a variety of displays that preserve and interpret the history of bandera county and our western heritage, exhibits that highlight local art,and children's interactive natural history and science exhibit.
