Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to relate a story of one of our riders.

We had some Upstate Medical students come out on Wednesday to sidewalk for the first time. They observed our lesson with Andrea (the rider) and were ready to begin helping with our rider Andrew. Andrew has been riding with us for a while and he is very special. It was amazing how he responded during this ride. We have some goals that to other riders may seem simple but Andrew has more difficulty with. We try to get him to use both his hands to reach things and to cross the mid-line with objects. He tries so hard! This past Wednesday was AWESOME!!!! He grabbed objects with both hands and with determination put them in a bucket on his own! I honestly dont think there was anyone at this lesson that didnt experience goose bumps!! There was a lot of cheering and clapping (even by Andrew!) At that time I was so proud to be a part of this program. The new volunteers got to experience what we as veteran vounteers have been experiencing all along. This is what this program is all about and why we as volunteers so gladly give of our time. IT MAKES IT ALL WORTH IT!!!

These events could not happen without all of you giving so generously of your time! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO FOR "FROM THE GROUND UP" AND IT'S RIDERS AND EQUINE STAFF. If you get a chance to "talk up the program to others- please, please relate the feelings you get and give by being a part of this wonderful program!!!

Thanks!!

I joined FTGU in the Spring of 2010 as a lesson volunteer. As soon as I attended the training session, I knew this was an organization I wanted to support as much as I could. It is staffed by some of the most dedicated and hard working people I have ever met. I always feel like my help is appreciated. It is the only PATH accredited program in the area which means the staff works very hard to maintain the high standards required. The director makes sure everyone follows procedures for the health and safety of all of the people and horses involved. Each day, lives are enriched and riders gain skills and confidence. FTGU is working hard to make the world a better place. It is a privilege to be a part of it.
