My brother Avi is 50 years old and has Down Syndrome. He loves participating in Friendship House events, especially the bi-monthly Young Adult Club gatherings, where he gets to interact with peers, learn life skills, do fun activities and enjoy a delicious warm meal.
He also loves attending the special holiday events, that are always so classy, well planned and executed with attention to every detail! Friendship House volunteers are warm and loving and Rabbi and Rebbetzin Kessler lead with warmth, compassion and professionalism. As a family with a special needs member we are so grateful to be part of the extended Friendship House family! Avi feels like he is an important part of the community and be social, and that means so much to us.

My almost 30 year old son has autism and really enjoys going to the Friendship House events. I know that if I drop him off for an event, he is well cared for by the rabbi and his volunteers. He also really enjoys himself. My son counts the days until the next event.

I've been volunteering with Friendship House/Young Adults Club for about 8 months now. Rabbi Kessler has a wonderful connection with each person. The Young Adults all bring something to the table...friendship for each other, comfort, bonding. They support each other. We meet 2x a month have a meal and then an activity, from crafts, caring for animals, sports activity, gardening, we have even gone on two field trips "around town". Selfishly, for me its an infusion of good positive energy. Important to give back, but you receive so much in return. I look forward to our twice a month. I'm grateful for the opportunity to help. I’ve been working with Friendship House for about two years and I value every moment spent there. Friendship House is an incredible place where everyone is welcoming, allowing us all to learn more about each other and develop friendships. This organization has positively impacted my life as I have been getting to know these amazing kids and learn a lot about them. I’m appreciative of this opportunity to brighten people’s day and I enjoy participating in this very meaningful program.
