In May of 2012, kitten season was in full bloom. The shelter and most of the rescues, including ours, were at full capacity. One afternoon, my mom arrived just before closing time to pick up kittens that she had dropped off at the shelter earlier that day to be spayed and neutered. As she was about to leave the clinic, the staff members were whispering, 'maybe Bev will take them...we can ask her if she has room...' A litter of tiny kittens had just arrived and were going to be put to sleep. A shelter worker spoke up, "I don't have anyone who can take them and they won't survive without bottle feeding. The veterinarian on duty is getting ready right now." Lives were saved that day.
