We adopted Layla at the end of April. She had big shoes to fill, as we had lost our 12 yr old English bulldog in March. Layla is an absolute love bug. Everyday she gets more and more comfortable with her family. When we first got her tail was always between her legs and she was scared of everything. Now her tail is up all the time and she’s more comfortable with most new experiences. It’s been wonderful seeing her grow and soak up all the love we can give her. Friends with Four Paws was wonderful to work with. The two week foster period we got with Layla was invaluable. They were in communication with us those first two weeks to make sure everyone was doing well especially Layla. She’s perfect and now I could not imagine our lives without her.
We had a fantastic experience with Friends with Four Paws. We adopted our dachshund mix Frankie in April 2024. It was our first experience adopting so we weren’t sure what to expect, but we could tell that they had the best interest of the dogs at heart as the interview process began. They checked in afterwards to make sure we were all adjusting ok and it was overall such a positive experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to adopt.
Friends with Four Paws does amazing work and I can never thank them enough for rescuing the dog I adopted from them.
I’m thankful everyday this organization rescues dogs who have so much love to give and connects them with families to get them in their forever home.
I’m so grateful for the work they do from finding the animals and rescuing them from terrible situations, helping the animals recover, finding foster families, and then matching animals with their new families.
Their work is life changing both for the animals they rescue and the people who adopt from them.
We adopted our dog ten years ago from FWFP, and it was the single greatest experience we’ve ever had for such a huge life decision like adopting a pet. Their team is so kind and helpful; we picked him up from one of their volunteer foster parents and they had already started training our pup on potty training and basic commands. As a first time dog owner, it was really the most easy going, non-stressful process imaginable. We’ve adopted a second dog since then from a separate nonprofit and we felt very alone. Thankfully, we were able to draw from our experience and knowledge working with FWFP to help us through the difficult transition. Truly one of the best organizations I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.
I adopted my first dog from Friends with Four Paws and it was the best thing that I ever did. At the time when I found him... almost 14 years ago on their site - he was named Bones. The staff and his foster Mother were wonderful to work with and within a week - I had him. And I immediately fell in love. He was in good health and was such a good boy. I changed his name to Diggory (Harry Potter Fan) and he has been by my side ever since (he is currently snuggled up next to me in a blanket - his favorite thing) This organization is wonderful and they do such amazing things to find homes for these dogs. I am so grateful that they rescued my Diggory from the shelter and that he made his way to me :)
We adopted our Daphne in 2010. We were asking about a different dog, but Leah Rose recommended Daphne as the best fit for our multi-pet household. She couldn’t have made a better fit for us. To this day, Daphne continues to keep our household on schedule and onboards new members.
I gradually adopted my 3 girls from Friends With Four Paws.
My adoption coordinator, Lisa Angeline, is the best. Lisa is so caring & particular in her review process. Lisa will pick the perfect home for a dog. All the dogs are in a foster home before adoption, so all of their traits are known.
You are adopting a healthy dog as all are vetted, up-to-date on all vaccines, micro chipped & all have dental cleaning. You will get all their vet records when you pick up your dog.
My girls, Bambi, Foxi & Sassi are all bonded & very healthy.
I also have 2 friends who also adopted their dogs from Friends With Four Paws. Lisa Angeline was also their adoption coordinator & both dogs are happy & healthy thanks to Lisa.
Please do not adopt from a breeder or shelter, as Friends With Four Paws has so many dogs looking for a loving forever home!
Again, you will be so happy, as I am by getting your perfect happy & healthy companion from Friends With Four Paws.
Lisa Angeline puts all of her heart & soul into the adoption process. Friends With Four Paws are so lucky to have Lisa on their team as an adoption coordinator.
I have included a pic of my 3 girls, all adopted thru Friends With Four Paws.
Again, please consider adopting from Friends With Four Paws.

Friends With Four Paws chose me to adopt a year old Chihuahua named Bambi. They gave me a perfect match. FWFP goes above & beyond in rescuing & finding responsible adopters. Their rescues are fully vetted & healthy. No other rescues are as thorough in finding the perfect home!!

Lisa did an amazing job by thoroughly checking my references. She responded promptly to my many questions. Paperwork was easy to fillout, same for payments. Pickup day was well organized with clear details on what to bring for your new pup. The rest is as happy as any ending can get.
I adopted Honey (named after her personality) in 2018, when she was just 12 weeks old. I put in an application as soon as I saw her on-line, and Nina, my adoption counselor, interviewed me the next day. My references were checked within a week, and the next week Honey was home with me. It was so easy. And Nina was available to address any post-adoption concerns I had. I still follow FWFP on line and through emails, and am amazed and gratified by seeing the growing number dogs that it now rescues, and the amounts that it spends, when necessary, to provide often extensive medical care to those dogs.
Thank you FWFP for bringing our little Jake into our lives. Lisa is an amazing adoption coordinator and all parts of the adoption process are thorough, quick and seamless. I also work with them periodically to assist in vetting adoption apps. They’re a great group of people who transport incredible dogs to loving homes in the northeast. I am a second time adopter with them & would return to them for help again in the future if situation arose.
A year and a half ago we adopted two mini schnauzers. We lost one this past January. Still have one and looking to adopt another. What a joy to have found such a wonderful dog!
Everyone was wonderful during the adoption process. We couldn’t be happier!
We adopted our sweet Eleanor from Friends With Four Paws 7 years ago. We not only had an incredible new family member with Eleanor but we also became a part of the wonderful Friends With Four Paws Family. They do such an incredible job when they screen their potential donors to make sure that the dogs they rescued get to move to a safe, loving forever home when they are adopted. They make you feel that you are a part of the Friends With Four Paws family from the moment you first talk to them, then picking up your precious rescue, Eleanor, and throughout the future life that you have with your new furry family member. They are always there if you ever have any questions or concerns and they are all so very kind. I cherished their rescue so much that I volunteered to do their website for over 5 years. I highly recommend adopting from Friends With Four Paws. We have been so blessed to have our Sweet Eleanor as part of our family all of these years. We love her with all of our heart.
I have had such great experiences with the volunteer coordinators during my time fostering with FWFP. The reason FWFP is my favorite foster organization is because they value the input of the foster parent during the adoption process. I have fostered with other orgs that did not ask for foster parent input and did not consider that when discerning if an applicant would be a good fit for the animal in question. We, foster parents, spend a lot of time getting to know our foster fur babies, and of course fall in love with each and every one of them, so we have a vested interest in making sure these unique animals go to the best home for them. I appreciate that FWFP sees the value in that because they truly also want the best outcome for each animal they take on. Another reason I love FWFP is because through them, I adopted my adorable Mochi. He is my precious foster fail.
This is ~Anna Lee. She is 9 months old and is a Great Pyrenees mix. I adopted her back in July from Friends With Four Paws and am very grateful to Belinda Compton for fostering her, and many others, with great love and care. ~Anna now has a loving furever home and is having the time of her life! I will forever be grateful….
My family (2 parents, 2 kids) adopted Jasper in October, 2019. He’s a large Pointer mix and was only 7 months old at the time. The rescue facilitator and foster mom were incredibly helpful. Jasper is a great dog.
Flash forward to September 2023, and we adopted Milo, a large red hound mix. Again our adoption facilitator and foster mom were incredible. Milo and Jasper are our happy, sweet family.
Everyone was always completely honest with us which made us more comfortable choosing our new family member.
Friends With Four Paws goes out of their way to make sure the dog you choose is a good fit, before, during and after adoption. They are real professionals and their foster people are kind, thoughtful and will give you lots of information, doing their best to be sure your new family member will be understood and loved. This is an excellent rescue. I highly recommend them.
Easy to get ahold of and quick to get process done, answered any and all questions I had about her and explained the process to me before hand! Met up with me and got me my girl Arwen! Birthday gift to me we met up to pick her up and everything went through as explained!!! Great adoption site and people helping these babies that need adopting!
This organization connected us with our new family member, Happy! They are professional, courteous, and provided clarity throughout the process!
I lost my soul pup over three years ago and was left broken-hearted with an empty home. I was introduced to FWFP and they gave me the opportunity to meet, love and care for several dogs while working to find them homes. Each pup they sent my way helped me heal my broken heart little by little and feel good while doing it - in the process they also partnered me up with a pup that was lovable and sweet and almost as broken as me. It was clear she was not going anywhere, and thanks to this wonderful organization we found our newest family member!
Friends with Four Paws is an amazing organization.
Lisa makes sure that the dogs go to loving homes.
Sharon checks the applications to make sure that the dogs will be taken care of and loved
I have been fostering for FWFP almost 2 years and there is no better rescue to foster for. The love and care for the dogs and the family fostering is above and beyond. Alyssa and Kim have the biggest hearts and I live what I do for them.
I took a dog in once that had a bad leg injury. I was looking for a rescue that could help with him and Friends with Four Paws was the first rescue to agree to help after many others said they were nit able to at the time. They reset his leg, put it in a cast and took him back often to replace the case while it healed. He turned out to be a really great dog and I am so happy they agreed to help him!
We have adopted two dogs from Friends with Four Paws. One dog was a senior who had an unknown amount of time left and gave us 8 months of love before he passed. The rescue went above and beyond to support us while we supported and loves him. They sent many supplies to help keep him comfortable, and even provided a light therapy kit to help with his arthritis. This rescue truly goes above and beyond for everu animal they take into their care!
When you get into rescue it seems that animals in need fall into your lap. I have come to this rescue as a foster with many different animals in need. No matter what the situation was, be it that the animal was sick or needed surgery or any other issue, this rescue has always allowed me to take in that animal. The rescue provides the funding and supplies, while my family provides a temporary home. They truly save lives, and so many of them!
I’m so grateful to have found friends with four paws who connected us with our fur baby Abby! They were very communicative and helpful throughout the adoption process and I love that I had the chance to take in a pup from the Midwest who was driven out to the east coast so we could give her a good home after being used for breeding and surrendered. She deserved a good life and now she has it! Thanks FWFP, you’re the best
I had the fortune of being able to volunteer for a couple of months with FWFP before I adopted my pup Shaia. At the time I was nervous about taking care of my first pup on my own and the folks at FWFP were supportive and encouraging. They suggested I foster Shaia to try out how it felt to care for a pup on my own for a little bit. Once Lisa handed him to me, she said, “this is going to be a foster fail”. It was! He has been the greatest companion to me, and now has a bigger family (another mom and a bigger little sister who is 2). We now live in the country where he has his own field where he loves to chase the squirrels and search for mice and chipmunks. He’s living his best life, and we love him so much. I suggest FWFP to anyone who asks me about Shaia’s rescue story. They were just incredible. I’m so thankful they exist.
We have three rescues and Friends with Four Paws was our best experience. They took the time to ensure we were qualified to accept another dog into our home. They were communicative and responsive throughout the entire process of the adoption, consistently checking in to ensure we were supported and everything was going as smoothly as possible. I love that they have a FB community, we were able to connect with our dog's sister's owner which was really fun. Great organization and would definitely rescue from them again.
When I saw Petunia (now Penny) on Facebook, I knew she would be perfect for our family. Waiting for her to come to NJ was the hardest part of the adoption process! The FWFP team was amazing and our little Penny is such a joy. She loves her brother and sister, naps, treats, puddles, and squeaky toys. I recommend this rescue to everyone.
I have fostered many dogs for this wonderful group, and not only will I continue to do so, but I recruit others to as well because they are so easy to work with and have such a great volunteer base who works tirelessly for the animals.
Friends With Four Paws saved Clyde and Stella form a abusive situation. The picture is their freedom ride to my foster home filled with love. This is a perfect example how Friends With Four Paw’s make a difference in the world✊❤️ Thanks to there dedication, support and love for animals I am able to volunteer to save them four paws at a time❤️
When we were looking to adopt a German Shepherd we had a hard time until we saw our beautiful Layla, FKA Lady and Friends with Four Paws made it possible 3 years ago. I am so happy they transport the pups and the volunteers are outstanding. I can’t thank them enough for all that they do to unite people with their new family members. When we wanted a companion shepherd for our Layla, it was the most easiest process the 2nd time around. So now we have our 2 beautiful girls, Layla and Presley (we loved Presley’s original name so we kept it, everyone always thinks she is male because of her name, lol). Thank you and forever grateful to Friends with Four Paws.
We found our dog Peppi (Cheetah) about a year ago through FWFP- the staff and all the volunteers made the adoption process very accessible and I’m grateful I got to work w them. Peppi made his way safely from Oklahoma to NYC where he was being fostered at a loving home- when I came to pick him up I knew he was in good hands. We can’t imagine our lives without Peppi, he’s brought us so much joy!
Friends with Four Paws was thorough in its application process to make sure that we would be the best parents for sweet Thelma. It is reassuring to know that all pups under their care are only put into homes that truly deserve them and will take good care of them. We hope to be able to adopt from them again soon!
Our sweet Finley just turned two and we continue to be grateful to Friends With Four Paws for bringing her to our family just when we needed her! The process was easy and she has brought us so much joy!! Highly recommend this compassionate team for the work they do!!
Friends with four paws is a wonderful rescue: they care so much about all their animals. My favorite program is their special needs program: rescuing those Al that are so easily overlooked due to their disabilities. It’s a small but very mighty team of volunteers
We adopted our Homer from
FWFP. He is simply the sweetest boy! And boy did he help us get through the pandemic. Friends was so professional and caring. When we adopt again we will be looking here!
Homer is the black dog. His brother who generally is pretty cold to other dogs loves him and they even sleep butt to butt!
We can’t say enough wonder things about Friends with Four Paws! An amazing team of people who truly care about their mission and their animals who they rescue, foster and adopt out. We were supported through the whole process when we adopted our sweet Sadie Mae almost 2 years ago and we are forever grateful for this organization who helped us to help Sadie Mae find her forever home.
Friends with Four Paws brought Benji into our lives. Our family will always be grateful to this organization. All the people who work for this organization truly love these animals and make the process so smooth. Thanks to them, our little boy is a happy, loved member of our family.

We adopted our boy Benji (aka Squid) last November and are completely in love. We had been trying to adopt from different places for several months and didn’t get anywhere. When I saw our boy’s picture, I knew I had to try one more time. Everyone at Friends with Four Paws works so hard at getting these beautiful puppies and dogs adopted into good homes. I thank them so much for completing our family.
I’ve fostered and adopted through this fabulous rescue. These folks are the most dedicated and caring individuals you will ever meet. Thank you FWFP for all that you do for our animal friends. You make such a difference in the lives of so many!
This wonderful rescue has not only provided me with a buddy for the past 11years, but also the love of countless fosters
We adopted Baxter 4 years ago from FWFP. Baxter is a handicapped wheelie dog and we cannot thank FWFP enough for all that they do :) we are eternally grateful to them for rescuing Baxter. They truly set him and all other dogs up for success. They trusted us again years later to rescue another dog, Buckles, and now our family is complete! We love FWFP. The work that they do is amazing to help these sentiment beings! Thank you!
Adopting our girl through Friends with Four Paws was a great experience. They made the whole process easy and I felt supported the whole time. You can tell they really care about the pups and want the best for them.
Friends with four paws brought me my angel Chewie! So grateful for this rescue and everyone needs to support them so they can continue to rescue pups!
I adopted Paco In 2018 And have never looked back. I can’t thank FWFP enough for rescuing Paco and introducing me to my soulmate. He’s been my best friend since the day I met him.
I love this rescue. They were thorough with my background and vet history which shows me how much they care about where they place their rescues. They kept in touch with me prior to picking up my dog daughter Autumn and checked in on her progress in my home. I'm so happy she came from such a great rescue and such great volunteers. My girl I adopted was well cared for and loves people and other animals. I highly recommend FWFP.
When we decided to get a dog, we knew it would be tough as we were in the middle of the pandemic and everyone wanted a dog! We were also getting a dog because my mom had moved in with us, and her large lab mix couldn’t join her in our small, Queens apartment. I started looking on Petfinder, and submitted several applications. And then I found Brandy (now Ciara), an older mini schnauzer. I knew she was our dog. She was already pending adoption, but then that fell through, and as soon as she reappeared on Petfinder, I emailed/texted/called Friends with Four Paws! Nina, the adoption coordinator, was wonderful to work with, and she made it easy. We did a virtual home visit with the foster, and then we were off to pick up our new pup! I always say that nothing in life is perfect, and yet… Ciara has been the perfect dog for us. We are so grateful to Friends with Four Paws. We will continue to support their work, and would absolutely adopt or foster from them in the future.
FWFP brought us together with our sweet little boy Bruno and he means everything to us. His health issues prior to adoption were cared for scrupulously, and the documentation we received was thorough and very helpful to us in ensuring his continued wellbeing. They showed him such love and healed him of his skin condition, and they made sure we knew everything about maintaining his regimen. Now he’s ours to care for forever, and we couldn’t be happier. Lisa introduced us and we could tell what a genuine attachment she felt for him. He was lucky to be saved by a group like FWFP.

We adopted our Ellie from Friends With Four Paws. The process and transport was great and convenient. We are so happy as she is a very important part of our family! I would most definitely adopt from this non profit again! Thank you for bringing Ellie to us!
She is a fawn chiweenie formally known as Bella Boop. We adopted her November 2019.

I was so nervous when Lisa from FWFP called me. We were looking to adopt ‘Mike Mulberry’, this sweet little pup in need of a furever home. I had so many questions, as I had never had a puppy before other than when I was a kid. So being a new ‘mom’ was a bit scary. But Lisa was amazing. She helped with all my questions and concerns and when she placed this little bundle in my arms I knew it would all be ok. Well it’s been almost a year now and Buddy (formerly Mike Mulberry) is the best thing that’s happened to us!! He is thriving in our home and so are we. I couldn’t have asked for a better match for us!

Long before the pandemic, 2020 was the year my husband and I decided we were going to finally adopt a dog our own. Then everyone else had the same exact plan! Just when we were starting to feel so hopeless about our situation, FWFP reached out and I placed an application for Meadow (FKA Gin). I think it was fate that we had to wait several months to find her because she is the absolute perfect match for us! She's been with us for 7 months now and we truly cannot imagine life without her. FWFP and our coordinator Nina made the entire adoption process seamless and were so nice to work with. We are so happy they chose us to be Meadow's new family!

Where to begin! FW4P made adopting our sweet Pooch so easy. Our "case manager" help match us with the perfect dog for our family and they were very communicative, keeping us up to date on our dogs status and his arrival. FW4P was ON TOP OF all the details around licensing, food, medical needs/status, temperament and answered all of our questions candidly. Highly recommend adopting from this organization.

We have Friends with Four Paws to thank for our awesome girl Nova, who we picked up almost a year ago. It was challenging to find a dog during the early days of the pandemic, but they remembered I was looking and kept me in mind which meant the world to me. They were incredibly though the whole process and a pleasure to work with . Most definitely a 5 Paw experience!

Friends with Four Paws is an amazing rescue! We adopted our little Ruby, a pom mix, last year from them. Adopters normally come to New York to pick-up their newly adopted pups, but we live in Bucks County, Pa. & were not familiar with New York so Lisa from the rescue brought Ruby to her house for us to get her. She was wonderful! The whole adoption process was easy and everyone was so helpful. They are doing a wonderful job to help homeless pets. We are grateful FWFP exists! Our Ruby is the sweetest & smartest little dog ever! Thank you FWFP!

We adopted our terrier mix, Luna, from FWFP about 3.5 years ago, and couldn't be happier. FWFP was easy to work with throughout the adoption process, and even set Luna up with a foster just down the block from us since we had expressed interest in adopting her. They were invested in making sure it was a good fit, both for us and Luna, and we were very happy with the process from start to finish. We can't imagine our life without our girl, and are so grateful to FWFP for rescuing her, and bringing her into our lives!

Friends with Four Paws rescue is amazing! After putting in our application, I heard from them the same day! They were thorough, kind, and incredibly helpful! Our new puppy came with her first round of shots, she was spayed, and she was already working on weeweepad training. We absolutely adore our new baby and we are incredibly thankful to FWFP for bringing her to us.

What a great organization. They are responsive, responsible, well run, and easy to foster with! Fostering with them has always been a great experience. Bonus for their dedication to special needs dogs. They also make sure the dogs in their care are healthy and ready for adoption, which makes for many more happy tails.

We adopted our beautiful senior Coco around a year ago. We had just lost our 21 year old chihuahua. She is such a blessing and I couldn’t imagine my life without her. I would definitely adopt again with friends with four paws. They checked in with us to make sure Coco was fitting in with our family. She is the most well behaved dog and is loved so much. Thank you again for letting us adopt her.❤️❤️❤️

Lucy came home to us just a week ago, and we can't imagine a more perfect match for our family. She and our Lab Mix, Moxie, enjoy tug-of-war in the backyard and are currently engaged in a good natured game of King-of-the Couch. ( Lucy (tripod) only figured out how to get herself up and down on the couch yesterday and, already, she won the couch!) Lucy is fun and friendly and she is here because of the good work of Friend with Four Paws. FWFP did their due diligence and Lucy was in a caring foster home during her recovery and her stay in NYC. Highly recommend.

Friends with Four Paws is an incredible organization! We rescued our two dogs (a bonded senior pair of Pomeranians) through them. The organizers care so much about the welfare and safety of the animals they rescue. It’s very obvious how much love, time, and attention they put into the process of ensuring the animals they rescue find the right forever homes. We are so grateful to FWFP and the work they do to care for the animals in our communities. Thank you!

We got our new fur baby within a week of applying. It was an omen because everything fell into place, right timing! We love our Franklin, so hats off FWFP. Everyone involved were wonderful, friendly and knew all the right questions to ask. Brought Franklin all the way to NJ. He is an 8yr old dachshund and wonderful. I hate to think they had to save him from a shelter. What a wonderful addition to our family. Willing to adopt again from them, they took great care of him till he got a new home! Thanks again FWFP.

After losing our almost 17 year old chihuahua, my husband and I were in search of another senior companion. After weeks of searching, adoptions falling through, not getting any answers, we found a dog through Friends with Four Paws. They were quick to respond, professional, and made the process extremely easy for us. We are so lucky we found our little man through them. Meet Roy!

I adopted my beloved rat terrier from FWFP back in 2011. FWFP was very transparent about the process and easy to work with. I adopted my chihuahua Tater Tot from Friends with Four Paws on January 13, 2018, and I am SO GRATEFUL for the entrance of this tiny lovebug into my life!! Tater Tot came to me from FWFP healthy and happy, and things just got better from there. Also, FWFP was great in the first 2 weeks of my adoption as I adjusted to having him in my home -- their volunteers checked in regularly and made sure I was feeling good about Tater. 3.5 years later, I feel even better about Tater than I did the day I got him (which I didn't think was possible). Thank you FWFP for bringing Tater Tot into my life and helping me adopt a healthy, happy, adorable, sweet doggy. Including 3 photos -- 1 from the day I adopted Tater and 1 from a recent trip Tater and I took to Miami.

My husband and I began our search for a dog two years ago. We believe in adoption and began looking for the perfect pup. It wasn't easy! I filled out several applications and never heard back from anyone. When we found Sansa online, she just spoke to us. I applied to Friends With Four Paws and finally found an agency who was willing to respond! We went to meet Sansa at her foster parents' home and they were absolutely gracious, allowing us to come inside. We had a long talk with them as Sansa was extremely skittish and we heard more of her story. When we decided to go ahead with the adoption, they even brought her to us since, at the time, we were living in NYC and it was difficult to find a car service or taxi that would allow us to bring a dog. Sansa was up to date on all of her shots, had been spayed and micro-chipped, and we were given her complete vet and transport records. This organization is very thorough, called our references, and were caring and wonderful people to work with. I can't recommend them enough!

It was a wonderful experience working with Friends with Four Paws! I matched with the most amazing dog, Ryder, over 8 years ago. Friends with Four Paws was very supportive and helpful throughout the adoption process.

In 2012 this wonderful organization brought to me a chihuahua named Naomi. She was the perfect dog for a first time owner like me. She was a true companion, always trying to help me. She passed unexpectedly last June, and I will never stop missing her. In 2014 they asked me to foster a little chihuahua named Willa for the weekend.. She's still here. She is quite a character and keeps me going! I can't imagine life without her. Thank you Friends With Four Paws, for my girls.

I cannot say enough good things about my family's adoption experience with Friends with Four Paws. As a new adopter, I found their process much more straightforward than elsewhere. When we found and expressed interest in a dog that seemed a good fit, I got a call within days for follow up. They asked for references, which I sent and they reviewed quickly. But most importantly, they -- like us -- thought it was important that we meet our potential dog before finalizing the adoption, so after traveling from Oklahoma to NYC, he went to a wonderful foster parent who set up a time for us to meet. That went well, so we took him for a two week trial period. Friends with Four Paws -- again wanting to ensure a good match -- has its prospective owners take custody of their pets for two weeks and if there's a problem, Friends will take the pets back. If all goes well after two weeks, only then do they transfer the chip in the pet (which they have implanted to help protect the animals!). Your contract states that Friends with Four Paws will re-take custody if you decide you need to give up your pet in the future. It is a wonderful, supportive process that centers the goal of ensuring a successful adoption. Our dog -- who we have now had for almost a year and a half -- is such a wonderful part of our family; I'm including my daughter's chalk drawing of him. I cannot recommend this organization more highly. Friends with Four Paws is amazing.

We adopted our puppy, Surrey, from Friends with Four Paws in January of 2021 and cannot sing their praises enough. They made the adoption process approachable for us as first time adopters and were happy to answer our questions at any time. They provided comprehensive health records and everything we needed to start Surrey off on the right foot as part of our family. We couldn't be happier with our experience and we thank FWFP for bringing us this fur bundle of joy!

We adopted our dog through FWFP. All went smooth with no problems and they were very helpful through the process and afterwards. I was so happy that I also decided to donate on recurring basis because I am very glad for what they do to help all these animals in need. I recommend this organization to anyone looking to adopt, volunteer, or donate.

During the height of the Covid quarantine, we decided to adopt a puppy. Friends with Four Paws was truly unbelievable with the adoption process from start to finish. It will be a year on May 30th that we took home this precious baby. My little Lucy Belle is by far the most perfect addition to my family, we love her unconditionally.

Over 4 years ago I became a foster parent for this organization. My first Foster dog Stu was so special I would have adopted him had he not already been spoken for. Next up was Eddie, equally adorable. Then came Sam. He ears were in such bad shape that the vet wasn't sure his hearing could be saved. I fostered him for 6 weeks until he was ready to be adopted. By that point he had won our hearts and we had won his. I'm happy to say we love him to this day and he is healthy and happy.

I looked for months and applied at dozens of rescues trying to adopt a female Beagle. Most rescue organizations never responded to my application, emails or voice mail phone messages. Then I came across Friends With Four Paws. Within days of find a Beagle I wanted to adopt on their website, they contacted me and before I knew it, was in contact with the local recue staff in New Jersey and also the foster Mom in Oklahoma. During the entire adoption process, they kept in regular contact with me to be sure that all was going smoothly. The happy ending is I now have "Andie", my sweet 1.5yr old female rescue Beagle and could not be happier. Even during the 2 weeks following the adoption, I continued to hear from the staff and foster Mom. Now that Andie is a part of our permanent home and family, I keep in regular touch with them to let them know how well she is doing. I cannot recommend Friends With Four Paws highly enough. Trying to adopt a pet in the year 2021 is challenging and stressful enough. The FWFPs staff made this process about as easy as I could have ever imagined. Props to the entire staff!

My husband wanted a beagle and I wanted a chihuahua. How did we compromise? We adopted Koda the Cheagle!! half beagle/ half chihuahua. Not only was he perfect for us, he was neutered and had received all his vaccinations before we adopted him. The adoption process was easy and picking him up from their Queens location was the best day ever. There are just no words to describe what you do for these animals and the families who adopt them.

We are on our second FWFP Doodle and we could not be happier. Our first guy was welcomed into our home EXACTLY as described in his listing. He was in near perfect health until his passing, and I was so thankful that FWFP took such good care of him and chose us to be his furever family. If I could have cloned that dog 10 times over I would have. We now have a sweet gal rescued via transport from Oklahoma. She came up with a litter of nine puppies who were all adopted out, but we were most interested in Mama. She is such a sweet and loving dog, which is exactly how she was described by her foster in OK. We have had such good experiences with our FWFP pups that we are already keeping an eye out to bring a second dog into our home, which would be our third FWFP dog. I appreciate that even though they are based in NYC/NJ, that they still extend their reach into states like CT and PA, as I am outside of the Philadelphia area. It shows they have a wide breadth of home situations they can offer dogs from being an apartment dog in Manhattan to being a suburban dog in a single family home in PA.

Friends with four paws is awesome. They connected me with my Chloe. She is the best part of my days. She’s very timid with others but definitely my shadow. Thank you friends with four paws. I can’t imagine life without her.

I tell everyone how amazing Friends With Four Paws has been to me. My Bianca is the most wonderful dog I have ever owned. A perfect fit. When I first inquired about another fog, I was told it want the right match for me but the perfect fog wa waiting in Oklahoma Volunteers drove my dog to NJ so that I could have her and through very difficult times she has sustained and enriched my life. This is a wonderful organization.

I was contemplating adding a dog to my life for a couple years before I took the first step of trying fostering. I was recommended to FWFPs by an at the time co-worker who was one of their regular fosters. A four year old Rat Terrier named Roxy was placed with me and I pretty instantly fell in love and became a ‘Foster Fail’ - happily. The organization made it so easy to make that transition from foster to mom and were super supportive every step of the way. Now, four years later, Roxy and I are going strong and it’s the absolute best decision I have ever made. I highly suggest checking out their foster program if your are considering eventual adoption! First picture is from the day that I picked her up and the second is from this past weekend.

Friends With Four Paws is amazing. From our first contact to the day we picked up our Elsa to the first weeks with her, they were available, caring, thorough, and committed to their mission. I would give them more than five stars if I could!

As I searched the Internet relentlessly in search of a female Cavalier I found her on Friends With Four Paws. My application was quickly processed. Within a couple of weeks I had my wonderful girl in my arms. She greeted me with kisses. The staff at Friends With Four Paws was personable and caring. Pickup Coordination was excellent. All the dogs on the van were well cared for. All their new owners were excited and completely supported by the Friends With Four Paws. I have rescued other dogs from other organization. Friends With Four Paws is hands down the best. I hope they will find me another Cavalier someday!

We adopted the most adorable little guy that came to us two years ago. The whole process was so easy, and everyone involved was wonderful. Unfortunately, we recently lost our little man to cancer. But we can only highly recommend this Rescue if you are looking to adopt. Thank you for all you do

My husband and I were interested in adopting a dog after we lost our beloved pet of 14 years, and we found Friends with Four Paws. They were the absolute best organization. They really care about the homes the dogs are being adopted to. They have multiple interviews and 1:1 calls after approval of adoption to insure the home is a right fit. They keep you updated on timing and status of the dog you are adopting and follow up after the dog is with you for the first 30 days. We adopted a long hair chihuahua, she has been the most precious pup and is absolutely perfect. When we adopt a sibling for our little Rapunzel, we would only adopt from Friends with Four Paws. Their adoption representative Lisa, is the absolute best, they are humans with the biggest hearts! We have never had a better experience then working with Friends with Four Paws! Highly recommend this Organization!

We have adopted 2 wonderful dogs from FWFP. As an organization, their compassion and dedication set them apart. The whole process of adopting an animal is streamlined and professional. If possible, we plan further adoptions in the future.

I had an outstanding experience adopting my Jack Russell terrier through them. Every one of their volunteers was helpful and friendly. It is wonderful how they are rescuing so many precious dogs' lives in Oklahoma and bringing them to new living homes in the NY/NJ area !

I adopted my beautiful Leia from Friends with Four Paws back in October when she was 8 weeks old. She's 9 months now and she's my absolute best friend. I am so grateful to this organization. They were extremely helpful, communicative, and I encourage everyone to adopt a dog or cat from FWFP!

I adopted my amazing pup Juniper from Friends with Four Paws and had a wonderful experience. They were thorough in their background check and match process and easy to get in touch with. They were constantly ready and able to provide support, and the foster to adopt process was seamless. And our vet was impressed by the care FWFP had provided--Juniper previously had heartworm, which they treated in the Oklahoma shelter, as well as providing all necessary shots, medications, and even a teeth cleaning. My husband and I had been searching for a dog for a while before we found Friends with Four Paws--other NYC rescue groups were very difficult to work with or wouldn't get back to us. I now recommend Friends with Four Paws to all of my friends looking to adopt.

We adopted our dog, Louie (she’s a girl!) from FWFP in 2019. We cannot thank them enough for setting us up, making sure we were both the right fit for each other, and checking up until we were comfortable! She is the love of our lives and FWFP made it happen an amazing organization doing amazing things

We attempted to adopt a 3 month old female puppy. We were approved but I found out that they fix their puppies as young as 8 weeks, which has potential health complications involving bladder incontinence, joint issue, hip dysplasia and increased cancer risks as per our vet. The reason being that the animals do not generate their hormones at such an early age. They tell people that the only reason puppies aren't fixed at 8 weeks is due to anesthesia but because their vet operates on so many puppies he's comfortable and that there are no side effects = FALSE! Pet population is a pervasive problem but puppy welfare should equally be a concern. I was immediately contacted and told," I heard you aren't happy about us spaying your puppy at her age. I think maybe we aren't the rescue for you and you should continue to search for a rescue pup". Clearly they are not concerned with the puppies' longterm health and do not take kindly to being questioned. All animals deserve to be rescued for more than the fee associated. We would have paid the $525 AND had her fixed at the appropriate age.
We adopted Flinty from Friends with Four Paws last year. The amount of support we received from them is enormous! They support new adopters every step of the way. They help with a good piece of advice because they care and want the best life for their furry babies.
We were looking for a second dog for our family and discovered Friends with Four Paws. I was nervous about bringing a second dog into the home whom we hadn’t met in advance, but FWFP offered support, guidance in introducing the pups to each other, and ultimately a no questions asked blackout option. Jackson (fka Jack) has been a joyous addition to our family. And I recommend Friends with Four Paws to everyone I know who is looking for a dog.
I found FWFP very easy to deal with. Even though I have rescued numerous dogs before (I even have someone from the greyhound rescue organization as a reference), I was coming into a lot of obstacles. Unfortunately some of those organizations are making it difficult to adopt an animal these days.
FWFP was very communicative from the beginning and friendly. They could tell that I was a really good candidate for adoption and they made the whole process easy. Their price was also more reasonable than some of the others.
My girl was with a terrific foster couple for the first week after she was transported up to NY. We've actually stayed in touch and they even came out to visit Zelda once!
Zelda is probably the easiest dog that I have ever had. Wonderful addition to my home, and she is super adorable :)
What an amazing rescue. They are so organized and take quality care of their dogs. They ensure the best possible home for each dog and keep them in loving foster homes while they wait to be adopted. They are top notch!!
We had a wonderful experience with friends with four paws, who brought us our beloved pup Juniper. They did a fantastic job matching us with her, in a process that, though thorough, was easy and quick. Our vet was so impressed with the medical care Juniper had received from Friends with Four Paws. I am so inspired by this non profit and their volunteers, particularly those who transport the jobs across the country. We fee so lucky to have found them! They have changed our lives in a wonderful way.
Great experience, friendly staff.. we adopted our dog Hiro 5+ years ago and best decision we ever made.
I was looking for a hypoallergenic dog to adopt and even though I was approved my several groups the dogs that fit my needs were just not finding their way to me. Enter Friends with Four Paws. Because if their breeder surrender efforts I found my 3 year old Shih Tzu, clover. FWFP rescued her, had her spayed, had her severe dental problems fixed and presented her. She was mine within two weeks and both of us couldn’t be happier.
We adopted our Sweet Eleanor 3 1/2 years ago from Friends With Four Paws. We have had rescues for a long time and this time it was a much different experience. Everyone that we dealt with through the adoption process was so kind and caring. After we adopted her we found out that we not only adopted her but Friends With Four Paws adopted us. They became like family to us. I believe in them so much that for the past 3 years I have been doing their website for them even though I live in Central PA and they are in the New York area. I would highly recommend adopting a dog through Friends With Four Paws.
I have adopted 2 dogs from this organization. This organization cares about the pets as well as the pet parents. They are with you every step of the way and ensure you are paired with the right new family member. Everyone you talk to is friendly and engaging. Overall- they do the right thing for animals.
We will forever be grateful to Friends with Four Paws for bringing Scout in to our lives. From the staff to the network of driver and foster volunteers, the Friends with Four Paws family works tirelessly to save the lives of rescue pups. It is a tangible, fulfilling example of good in the world. They were responsive, answered all of our questions and helped us through the adoption process. Their whole system of adoption is so thoughtful, all in an effort to ensure they pair the right pup with adopter(s) that understand the commitment they are making so that their dogs can find the loving, forever home they all deserve. They have also formed a good online community of tri-state area adopters and foster homes, which lets us keep tabs on some of our favorites and chip in when a pup is having a particularly hard time.
We commonly recommend interested dog parents reach out to Friends with Four Paws and will continue to do so. Adopt, don't shop.

We adopted our beloved pup almost 6 months ago but we can’t remember life before! He was given such great care before he came home to us and we couldn’t be more grateful!
Once we adopted him, they continued to provide support and encouragement!
I was looking for 6 months for my perfect match and FWFP was there to my rescue! The adoption process was smooth and they weren't annoyed with all the questions I had to make sure we were the right match! 1.5 years later and my best friend and I are living the good life!!
From checking their website to meeting our new furry family member everything was personalized and super sweet. We had a wonderful adoption coordinator who answered our questions with a lot of details and I could tell with a lot of experience, too! The rescue team was always there for questions and support and I also started volunteering with them afterwards on events and wherever I could(see profile picture, haha). So I’m both- client served and volunteer.
They are only a small rescue so it feels like a family. Highly recommend them!
We have had our dog Emma for 9 years. She is the sweetest most loving dog. FWFP really cared about placing her in the right home.
Great to work with!!! They truly care about the well being of the dogs and our little rescue was in great hands before he came to us via the foster mom from the organization! Would highly recommend them if you’re looking to adopt.
We got the sweetest chihuahua pup from FWFP! We have had him almost a year now. The adoption process was smooth and he was exactly as they described his personality. We are in love with him and we can't thank them enough! We feel so lucky to have him. His name is Buttons and he is tiny, but awesome!
The best. Simply the best. So responsive and caring about the dogs and ensuring a good fit. Regular, human follow through after we adopted. I can’t say enough good things about Friends With Four Paws.
FWFP is an incredibly caring and thorough organization. They really work hard to ensure every animal has a great home. They are really up front and honest and make sure to always communicate with you. They've created an amazing community of people to reach out to as well if you ever have any questions. Because of them our lives are forever better with the addition of Rhys :) We are so thankful! We can't wait to use them again when we're ready to adopt another dog.
I have volunteered with FWFP for several years and this rescue group is committed to saving dogs in need in every way. I’m always happy to recommend FWFP to people I know who are looking to adopt. They take the time and care to find the best home for each dog. Proud to be a part of the team.
I got my dog, Bo Cepheus, from FWFP in August 2012. They were amazing. My boyfriend had an alpha female dog and when we moved in together, she was extremely territorial to me. I had reached out to FWFP about finding another dog, and they matched me with Bo! The foster mom had an alpha female, so it was much easier to say “yes!” to getting him. Not only that, but when he came from Oklahoma to NYC I couldn’t get him for a week due to work and they had a foster take him for me.
Five years later, and I can’t imagine life without him.
We adopted our sweet Penny six years ago from FWFP. It was a wonderful experience, everyone was very helpful. We then adopted our lovable Maddie last year from FWFP and again, had a fantastic experience. Can’t say enough about this awesome rescue. Thank you for our fur babies
Found a beautiful puppy on Petfinder and it was with Friends with a Four Paws .Filled out an application and within 2 days I was called ..wishing a few days I was approved .....they gave me updates on the transport North to get my new family member . They followed up after a couple days to make sure it was a good fit ....all the people I interacted with were positive ..professional ..and informative . They also had live updates from the transport from Oklahoma to New York . Definitely a great organization !
I adopted Giggles from Friends with Four Paws in January of 2018 and I couldn’t be more thankful for them giving my family and I the chance of having him in our lives. After a heartbreaking loss of our family furbaby, Giggles was brought into our lives and brought so much happiness and love. Our baby means the world to us and we are so blessed and thankful that Friends with Four Paws take so much care of the dogs and cats they rescue so that they can happily find there forever homes.
Friends With Four Paws saved my baby from a high kill shelter and gave me a best friend. I am forever grateful for the work that they do. They help so many animals find a loving and caring home; they deserve all of the support!
I've adopted many dogs, but I think adopting thru Friends with Four Paws was the easiest. Their team is friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. And what a wonderful dog! Templeton (aka Temp) was 5 when I adopted him in 2017. A pug-and/or-jack russell-and/or beagle mix. He joined a pack of 5 others little guys of varying ages in my house. He quickly became the alpha and the other dogs have looked to him for guidance. He came already house trained, would immediately sit for treats and would fetch and return a ball. Such a fun little guy Friends with Four Paws is obviously careful about the dogs they place, giving them one success story after another. Great rescue. Great dog. My greatest thanks.
My partner and I adopted Richard from Friends with Four Paws almost four years ago. The organization is wonderful and does great work! The whole process was amazing and after searching for a rescue other places and being disappointed this was a great experience. Richard has changed our lives and continues to be a joy every day! It is such a great feeling to know what a difference you made in an animals life!
I initially applied to adopt a 2 year old female dog, and did not hear back regarding her application. Little did I know her adoption process was put on hold as she had become pregnant in an Oklahoma kill shelter before she was rescued. Not long after, a whole new group of puppies and dogs were posted for adoption online. My favourite of them all being Kimchi (Wiggles). Once I received the call about my application I was informed that Kimchi is the daughter of the dog I initially inquired about. I truly think my beautiful Kimchi was meant to be with me, and I her. The world works in mysterious ways. Thanks FWFP. We couldn’t be happier.
I adopted my little baby boy dogge Tater Tot on January 13, 2018, and he has changed my life forever!! I found him through adopt-a-pet.net, which showed that Friends With Four Paws had him up for adoption. He had been found in an abandoned home in the middle of the country and was being housed by a local rescue agency. I filled out Friends With Four Paws adoption form and worked with them over the following 2.5 weeks until Tater was transported to New York City, where I picked him up. He was a happy, healthy boy when I got him, and the last 20 months with him have been amazing. I can't imagine my life without him, and I'm FOREVER GRATEFUL to Friends With Four Paws for bringing Tater and me together. THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER!!!
Since the beginning of the year I’ve wanted a dog. In May I came across a picture of the cutest puppy and his name was Stark. I was in love with an innocent face. I contacted FWFP and they immediately got back to me. They wanted to get to me to make sure I was responsible and what kind of person I was. Rightfully so. They walked me thru the process. I think they were awesome and informative. After I got my baby Stark, they contacted me every day to make sure he was a good fit. He has changed my world . And I’m grateful to the organization who help out helpless animals and volunteer their time. Thank you
I adopted my tiny baby Bean from FWFP two years ago. The adoption process was easy and straightforward, but also very careful and thorough. I really couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’m so incredibly grateful that through them, I was able to meet the sweetest boy, my soul dog, and best friend. Two years later, we’ve moved to Detroit and he’s living it up with his German Shepherd sister who loves him as much as I do.
