Mission: The organization serves as an advocate for the chickamauga and chattanooga national military parks, helping to preserve, promote and enhance its resources for the benefit of the public.
Programs: National treasures: national treasures is the largest of the friends' annual fundraisers. Held within the lookout mountain battlefield unit of the park, national treasures is designed to highlight the significance and importance of the chickamauga and chattanooga national military park. National treasures promotes the projects of the friends within the national park and promotes the relationship between giving to the friends and projects in the park
grants received from community foundations to support the centennial anniversary of the chickamauga and chattanooga national military park. These grants were used to fund in part several centennial anniversary events held throughout 2016-17 at the national military park.
jewell monument restoration fund: the friends organization collects funds, organizes repair, maintenance and landscaping work to restore national military park monuments. During 2017 the organization collected funds in advance of incurring planned expenses for the tennessee state monument and the chickamauga battlefield.
national park night: the friends organization sponsored a chattanooga lookouts baseball game event that featured the national military park. The friends organization sold tickets for this special event. Ticket proceeds were donated to the friends organization. In addition, some tickets purchased for this game were also donated to "returning baseball to the innercity" to enable local youth to attend this special event. Approximately 4,000 attended this game.
chickamauga chase: the friends organization sponsors and coordinates an annual fundraiser race in the national military park. Entry fees are donated to the friends organization. Approximately 2,000 runners participated in this event in 2017.
volunteer support: the friends organization supports volunteers of the national military park with donation of gift cards and bottled water at centennial and other programs throughout the year.
national park support: the friends organization contributed funds directly to the national military park for requested needs.
the organization supported programs to recognize past donors and volunteers for their service time and accomplishments (leonard fant) and other programs.
