Programs: Estimated 198,000 total visitors toured portions open to the public at six mile cypress slough preserve's 3,400 acres of wetland ecosystem that is year-round home to a myriad of animals like otters, alligators, turtles, wading birds and migrating birds and butterflies use the slough as a feeding area or a winter home.
friends provides financial needs to support services of about 115 volunteers who assist five government employees. The friends organization provides other needed additional financing for the public facility. Visitors came from every u. S. State and 36 foreign countries.
