Volunteering Oportunities

Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: FOSMAS is a 100% volunteer-run non-profit that provides support for companion animal related issues. Our service area now includes the “Greater Bay Area” that includes Santa Clara, San Benito, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. In addition to pre-wean kitten fostering and adoption, the programs that we are going to be supporting include: a. Home is Best – Working with local vet clinics and shelters to keep pets in homes rather than having them surrendered due to unanticipated vet costs or life changing circumstances b. We Are a Team – Providing grants, financial support and adoption support to help shelters and other rescues and caring individuals working on issues related to pet population control c. Who Am I – Setting up clinics for pet microchipping and vaccinations to encourage more pet owners to take advantage the one technology that helps return pets to their home. d. Thank You for Your Service – Setting up a network of foster homes to help those servicing our country keep their pets while out on deployment. e. Seniors for Seniors – Working to help find new homes for older pets with senior homes so that pets that lose their person have a chance to provide comfort to a new person. To provide these services to our community we need both volunteers and donations. If you are interested in helping us, please contact at 669-228-4440 or info@fosmas.org. Donations can be made through our PayPal account or by sending a check to FOSMAS, P.O. Box 71, Morgan Hill, CA 95038.

When we went to the shelter we didn't really have any one dog in mind that we wanted to adopt. Being that they would only let you in if you already knew which animal you were interested in. We quickly scanned through the available animals just so we could get in and see what other dogs was available. Anyways 4 out 4 dogs were not going to be a fit for us. I asked the wonderful lady what other dogs were available. She let us walk through to look at what other dogs were available. Well we found one... At the time his name was Chapo and is now known as Biggie. When we were introduced to Biggie and ran up to my boyfriend and immediately warmed up to him. When I heard that was a first for him I was amazed. Lady said that he got passed up alot because he didn't warm up right away. Long story short he won our hearts and now he is ours forever. He is spoiled and full of atittude while being the most loving sweet cute dog he can be. So thank you for bringing Biggie into our lives. We are also looking to adopt again from this shelter so Biggie has a playmate.
