Activities have been performed by volunteers since inception in 2006. We sponsored 60 children for the school year beginning in january, 2007 and were able to double that with an additional 60 children sponsored for the may 2007 term. This took us to the 120 children in the program for the 2007 school year. Number students at the end of year year: 2010, 300; 2011, 310; 2012, 351; 2013, 361; 2014, 370.

I have been a sponsor of a few students over the past 15 years and impressed on the impact they have had on these students. The program , through my sponsorship, not only supports them through funding their education, Friends of Ngong Road provides extensive training and support to help students be successful in their studies and in landing employment
But it isn't just about writing a check. I have a unique 1-1 relationship with my sponsored students where I can learn more about them, their family and their culture all while encouraging them to succeed. It is very gratifying.
The Friends of Ngong Road mission that incorporates educating children with the purpose of employment and personal dependence is why we support this wonderful organization.
The opportunity to sponsor a child’s tuition in the Ngong Road slum her uniforms, meals, a Saturday program and summer camp for $100 a month?! Life changing for me and the students I sponsor. Spectacularly & uniquely well run organization.
Friends of Ngong Road helps children from Nairobi's slums finish their education and then get a job. This non-profit organization has fantastic academic and employment outcomes and sponsors feel the impact they are having on children almost immediately. The level of volunteer involvement is very high, administrative expenses are low. Friends of Ngong Road gives you a high impact way to change one life at a time! Check it out at www.ngongroad.org.

I first came into contact with Friends of Ngong Road when I was a student studying abroad in Kenya. I volunteered at their Saturday program where I read books and assisted with the meal. Six years later I joined as development staff. The business acumen, strategy, and care for the students are top-notch.
