Mission: Improve lower muskingum river environment by means of education, water quality improvement, environmental monitoring, and protection of land through acquisition or easement.
Programs: Develop a watershed action plan for the southern subwatershed of the lower muskingum river. Held stakeholder meetings to obtain input and support from community leaders in the affected areas. Conducted research to determine the causes and potential sources of pollution in the region.
continue to inform the public about conservation easements and how they can be used to the landowner's benefit. Acquire conservation easements on property in the watershed in an effort to protect the quality of the watershed. Maintain those properties.
environmental education programs: conduct public education and outreach for adults and children on the environmental issues that affect the health ans quality of the lower muskingum river. This includes teaching volunteers how to do water quality monitoring, watershed classes for various school systems, rain garden seminars with schools and the public, newsletter production etc. (1000 citizens and school children)
