When I came aboard the vessel, I never saw a fellow work so hard with so much enthusiasm. Watching him work through stowing gear, to prepping the lines, getting bait ready an everything in between. Landon and the crew never let a moment go by educating the passenger of the different parts of the horizon are, to giving lessons on rigging hooks, lures and sinkers, so the fish can see the bait. Landon was extremely informative on the types of fish that are in the area and described their habits to the fisherman. He also talked about how different fish fight differently when reeling them in, “Sculpin tend to be strong fighters initially and tire fast”. After the fish is brought on board, Landon indicated the spins are toxin and how you need to handle them with carefully. I’m amazed at how many people do not get these types of experiences that Landon and the crew provide. If you get this opportunity, take it!
I was an attendee of the Friends of Fish annual pier fishing derby in 2024 and it was one of the most fun and easiest derbies that I have ever attended. Everything was already set up and there was sufficient bait for me and my son to use.
Phenomenal fishing derby run by Friends of Fish. Kids had so much fun. Learned how to use ghost shrimp as bait. They gave out really cool prizes as well.
Friends of Fish is a top notch non profit that actively helps the community with all things marine conservation and fishing. I had the privilege of volunteering with the organization and it is well organized and does a great job serving the public!
Landon and his crew took my son and couple of his friends out to the sea. To be honest, I was excited and nervous at the same time… This was our first real fishing trip and I didn’t know what to expect. From the beginning to the end, they took care of everything from A to Z. You can tell Landon really knows his stuff and the crew was very knowledgeable in their craft. It was such a fun and educational trip. We, (even the adults)learned about types fishes, what size they need to be, how to put on bait, what to wait for & what to do when the line starts wiggling etc., My son, Cayden and his buddies had the best time. I have complete faith and confidence in Landon & his crew. They even took the time to go to different spots out in the ocean because they said the first spot wasn’t getting good fish. All in all, we had a successful trip and came home with over 12 fishes. Thank you Landon & team for an unforgettable morning, Cayden can’t wait to come back again!! We had delicious fish tacos from that trip.
Landon and crew took a bunch of amateurs and turned us into fishermen! Their professionalism and enthusiasm made our outing so much fun. We appreciate their patience, with their assistance, we caught so many including a huge one that almost got away ;) thank you Landon and crew for an amazing time!
This is truly one of kind nonprofit organization. Landon and the crew are very knowledgeable about fish and the ocean. Friends of Fish gave me and so many kids the opportunity to learn about life in the ocean in person (not online). This is my first fishing trip on a boat and was amazed that there were so many fish around us. I am grateful for the opportunities and hope more kids can get the hands-on experience. Thank you Friends of Fish.
Friends of Fish gave us the opportunity to fish with them. Caught some bonitos and had a great experience. An amazing service to the community.
Landon is a knowledgeable fisherman and you can tell he takes great pride in the work he is doing. He made the experience fun and informative for both adults and young children. Great job!
The organization's approach to education is both engaging and informative. Through hands-on experiences and interactive lessons, Friends of Fish not only teaches the youth about the ocean but also instills in them a profound sense of respect for it. This respect is crucial, as it forms the foundation for responsible and sustainable fishing practices, which are emphasized throughout their programs. By equipping the next generation with the knowledge and skills needed to practice sustainable fishing effectively, Friends of Fish is contributing to the preservation of our marine ecosystems.
Friends of Fish is a remarkable nonprofit with a clear mission: to educate and empower our youth in ocean conservation and sustainable fishing practices. Their free fishing opportunities for underprivileged youth from Title 1 schools make their impact accessible to all.
Landon excels in creating engaging educational experiences, fostering respect for the ocean, and instilling the importance of sustainable fishing.
In summary, Friends of Fish is a beacon of hope, nurturing the next generation of ocean stewards. Their commitment to education, inclusivity, and sustainability deserves recognition and support.
Landon is such a great fisherman. You can really tell he is really passionate about it. He was so patient and friendly with my kids and really taught them a lot about marine conservation. He was very knowledgeable about the ocean, types of fish and how to fish. Landon educated them on the types of lures and what baits to use, which fish need to be saved and how to handle the fish after they’ve been caught. This is a great organization that allows Landon to share his knowledge and love of fishing with others.
Friends of Fish is a one of a kind type of charity focused on education, environmental sustainability and FUN! Landon Das' passion for the ocean and fishing is contagious. A contribution to Friends of Fish is a worthy investment in our youth and our planet. And fully tax deductible (if you're into that!)
Landon’s love of fishing is so great to see in a young man. He has done so much harbor fishing since moving to the area with his trusty two seated kayak. Now he is teaching young children and adults with his knowledge of the ocean. This is a great organization with a lot of potential. All his free time seems to be devoted to diving, free diving and fishing all over the place.
This organization is great for learning about Marine Conservation. Landon has been a great teacher on fishing as well as learning about what is caught.
Great non-profit organization to teach children to learn about marine life and ocean conservation. As the students go out on the boat to learn about what kind of fish needs to be saved, they grow to love fish and save the environment.
Landon is a very good fisherman! He respects all fish and always handles them with then with the utmost care. We need more fisherman like Landon in this world. Thank you Landon for showing me more ropes of fishing I never knew. Happy Fishing
This was a great experience that me and my friends got the opportunity to do. Landon seemed to have experience doing what he did and it was a fun adventure with out doubt Landon has to keep up the great work is he is doing.
My kid and his friends had a wonderful opportunity out in the ocean this summer. They went fishing with Friends of Fish and all had a blast!!!
Landon and the captain were both super awesome! They were knowledgeable, professional, very friendly, and great with kids. Kids learned how to fish, and able to tell what types of fish they caught.
Kids were so excited to learn about marine conservation in Southern California coast too!!!
What an amazing experience!!! So much fun and educational!!!
Landon is the best!!! My kid really loves it and wants to go again!!!
Thank you Friends of Fish!!! Highly recommend!!!
Landon was amazing! He provided a great learning experience for my son and his friends. He was super patient and gave the boys educational instruction and mentored them through the fishing process. Wonderful experience!
As a board member, I'm proud to be part of this non profit as we are getting kids excited about fishing and marine conservation in Southern California! We are fundraising to reach our goals of providing free or reduced cost fishing charters to disadvantaged youths from Los Angeles and Orange Counties, and have already gotten started with sending some kids out in our local waters. Seeing their faces light up as they catch a fish is amazing, and we are just getting started, with plans to run more charters before the end of the year. We'd also like to expand into offering local pier fishing classes for kids once we are able to get donations of fishing rods and reels, and fundraising will also provide money to purchase bait and to advertise. A very worthwhile cause!
Someone once told me that 80% of kids that live within 20 miles of the beach in inner city Los Angeles have never visited the ocean. Fishing can be an expensive hobby. And it can be daunting when you don't have a parent or guardian to show you the ropes -the gear, the licensing, finding the right spot, what to use for bait, etc. Friends of Fish is a great organization run by a teenager who know how to relate to other children. They not only teach kids how to fish, they teach them about the local species, conservation, marine biology, sustainable fishing and well, how to have fun! And it's all free! It's amazing to see how many kids want to come back for a second trip. I wish every middle school would contact Friends of Fish to take advantage of this great cause.
