I became acquainted with Friends Helping Friends (FHF) through a skiing buddy. He was one of the co-founders. The whole idea that his organization started at a Christmas luncheon and has grown into the great organization it is today. The concept is so simple....friends helping friends. Become a member through their "dues" structure and one is eligible to ask for assistance for any friend, colleague or neighbor who has had a financial set back and needs some short term assistance to get back on their feet.
I personally recommended a friend who was injured in a bicycle accident and needed help with her mortgage while she recovered. FHF reviewed her case and need and wrote a check to her bank to cover the short term help she needed. The due diligence was handled very professionally and quickly.
When one talks of "grass roots", FHF personifies that term. Just a kind group of people who want to do good for those find themselves in a short term financial crisis.
By the way, I have moved from NE Ohio and still strongly support FHF.

I was introduced to this wonderful organization several years ago. I have attended their annual Christmas lunch and a couple of their golf outings. I recently had a friend and former colleague get seriously injured in a bike accident and was/is in need of some temporary financial help. I reached out the FHF and they have come through as I knew they would to help my friend in her time of need. I moved out of the Cleveland area about five years ago, but still continue to support FHF through donations. This is a great, somewhat under the radar, organization.
Friends Helping Friends is a wonderful group of people who help friends in need. They helped my cousin when he lost his son after a long ordeal and then lost his job. They are helping another friend who has pancreatic cancer. They help financially with bills when someone falls on hard times. It's nothing life changing, but extremely helpful to the recipients. I can't say enough good things about this great group of friends who help out other friends and family when times get tough. Thank you!
