Programs: Freedom place provided sober transitional housing to 71 single adults at five homes in the city of st. Paul, mn. They included 36 male adults and 35 female adults. Of the 55 adults who were discharged, 21 moved into permanent housing and 17 held over into 2018 at freedom place. We saw an uptick from 42 individuals served in 2016 to 71 served in 2017. In part because we did extensive remodeling at 717 orange ave. E. Two bedrooms were added along with a second bath. The remodeling was performed by several program residents for $25,000. In addition to that work, we added a new retaining wall at 52 jessamine and put in black top drive ways at 600 van buren and 717 orange. We continued to raise donations door to door in 2017 with 5 clients serving on our canvass. For the 27th year, we operated an organic vegetable garden at 404 charles ave. Which provided healthy food for our residents at the five homes. Despite the increase in discharges for relapsing on drugs and alcohol violations in 2017, we have done a good job managing the homes with a hands on staff of trained former clients. They were instrumental in keeping our properties clean, safe and sober.
