I am a volunteer at Freedom Hooves and spend part of a day a week side walking, leading and grooming horses and whatever else is needed. The staff, paid employees and volunteers are very attentive to the horses, the riders and the families of the riders. Everyone is well trained or mentored until they are well trained for the tasks. Because this therapy involves horses, I have observed there is a great deal of attention paid to the safety of all the participants. I have observed that the horses are well cared for and attended to. Everyone is sensitive to the need of the riders and I have seen riders set goals and attain them. The staff and volunteers I have worked with are dependable, positive people who you can tell enjoy working with the riders and families. It is a fun environment and very rewarding.
My 38 year old son had a stroke in 2019 caused by his seizure med He loves horses and I knew when I found freedom hooves he would improve greatly and he has. It helps with his balance and posture. He looks.forward to going every week. The volunteers are wonderful. They are the best — so we give them 5 stars!
I’ve been I volunteer at Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding Center for seven years and have had the privilege of watching our riders gain mobility, confidence, and hope! It’s not just a pony ride, it is real physical therapy and much more.
Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding Center Inc. makes a difference! As a volunteer I have witnessed and participated in the “Magic” the team of staff, volunteers and horses provide those they serve to improve their quality of life no matter their age or challenges. The - patience, compassion, professionalism, safety, thoughtful programing, horse snuggles/giggles between clients, staff and volunteers is genuine and heartfelt. I am thrilled and humbled to be a part of this selfless organization.
I am so proud and thankful to be associated with this non profit organization. The staff and volunteers really give their fullest in terms of caring, knowledge, compassion and care to our two and four legged workers. I have seen a rider stand for her first time in order to give her horse a kiss on the nose. Also, a rider communicate verbally for the first time. This could not be accomplished without the generous contributions of our benefactors and our generous contributors. I love my job here and love my co-workers, both two and four legged. Thank you for your support.
Most sincerely
Ann Estep
My 10 year old daughter with special needs has been riding at FHTRC for almost a year now. In that time, I've seen so many improvements, from trunk control and rotation, increased flexibility, and her speech development. She has gained so much confidence and control, and I truly believe it's because of hippotherapy. The staff and volunteers are amazing and always greet her with a smile. All of her improvements would not be possible without FHTRC, the staff, volunteers, and the generous donors that give freely. We are truly blessed to be a part of the FHTRC family.
Amazing nonprofit. The stories from the families who are able to go there warm your heart. Love all that they do.
I was introduced to Freedom Hooves through good friends, one of whom is a client at FH. I was so impressed with how this therapy has helped my friend and how much praise they both had for the horses, staff and volunteers, that I came to an open house to see for myself. Wow! Impressive doesn’t do justice to what the team at FH does. Unfortunately, I was shortly moving out of state, or I would have volunteered just to be part of this amazing group of people and equines. However, Freedom Hooves lit a fire in me and I set out to be part of an equine assisted therapeutic center in my new state and now I am a donor, volunteer and the newly elected board chair of my local TRC in honor of my friends and Freedom Hooves! Thanks for spreading the love!
Around 15yrs ago my daughter started volunteering at FHTRC. Eventually, I also started volunteering some. I thought it was a great program then but it's so much more now. I love seeing the joy on the faces of the riders. To see how excited they are to be near the horses, let alone ride them! I also see how hard the instructors work to engage each individual rider. It's hard work but you can see that everyone loves it! I was impressed all those years ago and I am even more so now.
This group is well organized. The team works well together and has a great group of volunteers that provide excellent equestrian horse therapy. You can really see results with the riders over the course of an 8-week session. As long as my job allows, I will keep volunteering here.
This is one of the best organizations I’ve ever been associated with!! After close to 20 years I am still amazed at how much good they do here-not only for the students but for the volunteers as well.
Such a wonderful place of healing in so many ways.
I feel blessed to be associated as a volunteer and board member.
I have volunteered with FHTRC for about 15 years now. I have seen the program grow and continuously improve throughout those years. I have seen amazing experiences from clients that you would have to see to believe. The joy you see on the rider's faces is unparalleled, too! The staff is also amazing at what they do. They are very friendly and helpful to both clients and volunteers.
It's a great program to be a part of!
My daughter was a rider at Freedom Hooves for two years, until we moved out of state and she LOVED it. It was the highlight of her week and gave her such confidence and support.
Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding Center is amazing!! This organization helps those with all different types of needs, from emotional to physical challenges. I started as a volunteer over 5 years ago and now teach 5 riders. The joy that each rider gets is beyond words. I have seen firsthand how "simple" tasks, like holding reins or communication in non-verbal ways, can be accomplished while riding their horses. While the riders get therapeutic lessons, I also get "therapy" from each of my riders. I leave with a smile every time!

I started volunteering at Freedom Hooves 5 years ago and it has been the most humbling experience. The organization and other volunteers have taught me so much, not just about the amazing benefits of horses, but about people and horses! The horses are the heroes there and the people who get to ride them benefit so much. They leave smiling, more flexible, and a little worn out. All beneficial to help them throughout their day to day lives. Freedom Hooves has changed so many lives for those who ride and for those of us who volunteer!
FHTRC is an amazing organization that has caring people that have made a positive impact with the community. It’s been an amazing pleasure meeting all the riders and folks at the organization. I look forward for the organization to continue to get the support it is needed to continue to make a positive and lasting impact.

My 8-year old with disabilities has been riding at Freedom Hooves for about 18 months. She is experiencing physical as well as emotional benefits, including more flexibility, improved trunk rotation, better hand eye coordination, and increased confidence. The volunteers and staff are wonderful and always encouraging. Would recommend!
Freedom Hooves is such a wonderful organization, I cannot express enough about how wonderful the people who run this program are. My daughter has been a part of this program for 8 years and she has shown a wonderful response to this therapy. She connects with her horse on an emotional level and before she was verbal we could tell by the smile on her face that it was the best part of her week. Now that she can speak she is very talkative after her riding sessions! I believe that riding her horse helped unlock the speech center in her brain and we are so grateful for all she has accomplished! Thank you Freedom Hooves!
I am a volunteer there. I am very impressed with the staff. They are very caring with the customers. The care given to the horses is excellent. I have enjoyed learning how to help the customers and their special needs. It’s great to see how much it helps them to come and ride the horses. I keep increasing the hours a week that I volunteer. Love it.

I volunteer for this Riding Center. They are very hard working. They take great care of all the rider's. We received a lot of training when we first started. I am also impressed with how well they care for all their horses. It is a top notch organization. All the instructors are very patient with the riders and safety always comes first. I see first hand how much therapeutic riding helps the riders. It is very rewarding. Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding center is great.
8 years ago I had a stroke. 7 years ago I started riding a horse here. I am so glad I was hooked up with this program. The benefits of my riding a horse are ones that I can not get any where else.
One of my favorite sayings is I don't have to ride, it is I GET to ride. Being on one of God's animals is such a blessing!!
I'm not sure how meaningful results could be any more rewarding than those provided by Freedom Hooves. Lives are positively impacted by every interaction with our horses along with the best staff and volunteers. A sense of accomplishment is felt by all those involved in any way. Riders learn new skills, both physically and mentally. Volunteers see first-hand how their time is so valuable in helping others. Donors can see tangible results by visiting the facility and experiencing the relationships formed.

Mission Statement: Dedicated to unlocking the full potential of anyone with a physical, mental or emotional disability through equine-assisted services.
My sister has been attending Freedom Hooves Riding Center for more than a year now. And over that time I have watched her confidence grow. Her first day she was so afraid to get on the horse that I thought this was going to be a one and done experience. But the staff at Freedom Hooves are patient and kind. They have worked hard to make her comfortable atop a horse. Now the time she spends riding (Stormy) is the highlight of her week.
My sister's strength and coordination has greatly improved, and it has helped her in her daily life and at work. It has helped with her mental concentration, and she has learned how to be both firm and gentle.
I am over the moon with the work the wonderful staff and volunteers do at Freedom Hooves. I encourage anyone who has or works with a Special Needs person to consider giving Freedom Hooves a try.
I volunteered at this organization 13 years ago and learned what amazing work they do helping people by using horses. I was inspired to write a children's book and later became certified using equine therapy. I recently retired and I just started volunteering for Freedom Hooves again!
Our daughter has been a client at freedom Hooves for several years. The improvements in core strength are fantastic. We would recommend this facility to anyone.
Every rider I worked with in the last 6 years had a better quality of life of some sort after working with the amazing staff at Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding Center. The difference it makes is something you have to see yourself so stop by and visit FHTRC.
The volunteers are the heart of this organization. There is no problem that can’t be solved when you add a horse! The therapy is excellent but the smiles on the riders faces are priceless!
I've volunteered with Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding Center for over ten years. I have seen amazing results for clients who are in this program. I've seen children who don't speak very often excitedly rant to their parents after just a few lessons. I've seen wheelchair-bound people be able to gain enough strength to walk. It's been a life-changing experience, and I couldn't ask for anything more. It's a great program that helps those who need it. They're the best!
I decided to volunteer with Freedom Hooves, because my nephew, who suffered with spina bifida and was paraplegic, used to go there for therapeutic riding. He passed away several years ago, but he loved his time on the horses there.
They are so caring about the riders they serve, and the horses who do the work. I'm happy to be a part of the community.
I've watched this organization change the lives of disadvantaged clients, children that spoke their first words were to "their" horse, a boy whose dream (that came true) was to someday ride a bicycle, and the many 'invisible' achievements (increased balance, better coordination, and getting to do something their siblings could not...ride a horse, etc). Too many think this organization is just giving pony rides....they need to come see the smiles on the faces and the miracles that happen out there.
Freedom Hooves has helped my son to walk again! He had Anoxia due to a near drowning at age 3 and is 20 now and has been going here since he was 4. He learned to walk again at age 5 and has one speed, GO!!!! Hippotherapy has helped him keep his balance and walk with confidence. Friendly staff, care and consistency make this a great place for my son.
I've been on the Board for 3 years and have just been blown away by the caring people at Freedom Hooves. After meeting some of the riders and hearing their stories, it is evident how much equine therapy has opened doors for them, physically and emotionally. So thankful for the amazing staff and volunteers that make this possible.
I have been a volunteer with Freedom Hooves for over 7 years. The staff is so dedicated and the work they do truly changes the lives of our clients. As the organization has grown, the level of care has not waivered. Our staff provide a personalized experience to every client and treat everyone like family.
We LOVE Freedom Hooves! Our daughter has cerebral palsy & has participated in riding sessions here. The staff & volunteers are phenomenal! She benefits grately from their work!
Fantastic organization. The staff and volunteers at Freedom Hooves have created a tremendous environment for people with special needs. My daughter loves her horse.
My daughter has been riding with Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Center for almost 14 years. The staff and volunteers are amazing. They truly care about you. My daughter has came a long way both physically, emotionally, and socially over the years. She loves the horses and can’t wait to saddle up each week. I can’t image our life without this amazing organization. I 100% highly recommended them!
This is one of the absolutely best organizations I’ve ever been associated with. So great I’ve stayed close to 20 years!!
The physical mental and emotional benefits to riders, their families AND the volunteers can’t be measured. Love it!!!
