Freedom Alliance is great! I recently had assisted them and personally worked with Mike on a Veterans therapy trip to Alaska. Freedom Alliance and their associates truly care about the health and mental well being of Veterans by providing them with amazing once in a life time opportunities that not many get to do, let alone afford to help them heal from the wounds of war. I would definitely recommend supporting Freedom Alliance and all that they do for our Veterans as it's going to a good cause and Veterans definitely could use all the help they can get.

Material and instruction were superb. Lastly and most importantly Freedom Alliance. Orchestrating and bringing everything together nothing short of magnificent. The week in Costa Rica was profound. Freedom Alliance doesn't just want to take you away for a week. They want to help combat Veterans for a lifetime.

Freedom Alliance invited me to attend a hunting excursion at the Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge in SC. As is often the case with myself since my retirement and my injuries, I find myself missing the closeness and bonds that I had while I served. The shared hardships and common experiences with others often can't be found close by. Freedom Alliance and The Donors did more than arrange a great hunt, they allowed myself and other wounded service members, people with similar experiences and hardships of injury to commune, relax and recharge. It does more for me than people know . My words cannot express enough the gratitude of this experience.
I just want to say my time with Freedom Alliance in Costa Rica was truly amazing. Now only was the fishing great while catching my first ever yellow fin Tuna and Sailfish. The activities that Pepper had laid out for us when we got there was truly calming are rewarding all in one. While hiking I was able to forget about my struggles and pains for a moment, because I was enjoying the nature and all the animals living in their habitat. The environment allows you to open up and share your story of what you are going through. Even though it can be hard to talk about my issues at times because you don't want to relive them. Pepper has a way with words and setting the atmosphere that makes things okay to talk about if you chose to. I left with a new attitude of how I see myself and how I can change the little, small things to make my life better for myself and my family. Thanks again for the opportunity to experience a great time fishing offshore and learning how to heal in a different way.

"A Trip of a Lifetime"! This was my first veteran retreat, and it was absolutely incredible. Pepper orchestrates multiple moving logistical parts, which create an atmosphere where combat veterans can let their guard down and begin to heal. From hiking through the jungle, to offshore fishing with the best in the world, the senses are being reset to the beauty of nature, which opens up the mind to the therapy sessions of understanding and correctly identifying the pain that exist. This retreat allowed me to open up and share the pain I have been carrying, weep alongside my teammates, and understand their perspective of the pain that they carry too. This is a delicate process, and Pepper has been blessed with the skills and gentle touch required to pull it off. None of this would be possible without the help of those that choose to give back to those that risked everything for the freedom in which we are able to enjoy. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Freedom Alliance, the donors, and everyone that makes these trips happen. You are truly changing the lives of those that served their county, as you have changed mine forever!

Pepper Ailor gave us a chance to talk about the difficult personal combat experiences of our military service. He really gave us a nurturing, healing, and safe environment in Costa Rica that really brought honor to us all.
It was an amazing and unique fishery out there, catching and safely releasing these huge and beautiful sea creatures together. We will forever share with our family and friends these amazing stories from our trip for many years to come!

Freedom Alliance has gone above and beyond this was a trip of a lifetime for me. Pepper was very professional and the perfect person to lead my group. He introduced me to a different ways to think about things that happened during the war which was something I needed. Now the trip was bananas we did some hiking through the rainforest and the Howler monkeys made all kinds of noises. The fishing was incredible, the guys on Family & Friends put us on a ton of fish. The next day Fish Tank took us out and they put on a show for us, huge pods of dolphins then giant tuna jumping out of the water. Fish Tank also put us on Big fish which was insane. The last day we did a little atv riding up and down in the rainforest through some creeks it had some incredible views.
Everyone I encounter during my stay at Los Sueños was amazing and Thank you to the staff, boat owners and Freedom Alliance for everything you have done me and my family
Freedom Alliance and Pepper have created an amazing experience for combat veterans to relax and truly unwind. This experience with Freedom Alliance was something that I will never forget. WHOW 2024!
I recently had the privilege of participating in my fourth War Heroes on Water (WHOW) Fishing tournament for injured and wounded combat veterans, and it was an unforgettable experience. The even as always was organized with meticulous attention to detail, from the registration process to the final weigh-in.
The camaraderie among all veterans and participants , was truly inspiring. It was great to see veterans, donors, owners, captains, and deckhands from various backgrounds coming together, sharing stories, and supporting each other. The tournament itself was well-structured, with ample opportunities for both seasoned anglers and beginners to showcase their skills.
The highlight for me was the sense of unity and community spirit that permeated the event. The organizers from Freedom Alliance and WHOW did an excellent job of creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. The captains were put veterans on fishing spots, offering a variety of challenges and opportunities to catch different species.
In addition to the thrill of the competition, there were also informative conversations and a beautiful welcome reception at the founders home which overlooks the pacific ocean and which added to the overall experience. The event was capped off with a heartwarming awards ceremony, where the efforts and achievements of all participants were recognized and celebrated.
Overall, the WHOW 2024 Tournament was more than just a fishing competition; it was a celebration of resilience, teamwork, and the joy of being out on the water. I highly recommend this event to any veteran looking for a meaningful and enjoyable fishing experience.

I don’t even know where to begin. Freedom Alliance has helped changed my perspective of life. They have been there for me since I met one of the program coordinator when I was still hospitalized in Bethesda (now Walter Reed). The organization introduced me to a new sport ; deep sea fishing (something that I have never done in my life). It was an amazing experience and it wasn’t only about the fishing, the luxury stay, or the delicious food. The sessions during the stay and as well as the follow sessions are meaningful and helps you understand your struggle. You make meaningful friendships and learn new ways to deal with your mental struggles than the traditional methods. I am so grateful and thankful for all this organization have done for me and other veterans, gold star families, and others!

Because of their generosity, I and the other veterans on this trip were given the opportunity to experience an amazing fishing trip, stay in beautiful accommodations, relax in a beautiful country, and share our experiences in a therapeutic and positive environment.

I just returned from Fish Creek Ranch Retreat. It is difficult to put into words as I am humbled for how grateful I am to have the privilege to attend this trip. From the moment I was contacted by Pepper Ailor to the day I had to return, I felt well taken care of like I was family. To have participated in this opportunity, it was was a blessing and exceeded any expectation I had going into it. Through the events and guided group discussions this opportunity was uplifting, bringing light to darkness in turn healing for us veterans. I will forever cherish these memories and friendships we made for the rest of my life.

I have had the privilege of participating in multiple Freedom Alliance veteran retreats to include multiple Warheroes on Water Tournaments, Offshore Experience in Costa Rica, and Fish Creek Ranch Combat Veterans Retreat. Each event in it's own way has been rewarding, life changing, and allowed healing from traumas sustained during my time in Iraq and military service. In addition to myself, I've seen multiple veteran friends from my service time who have participated in the above events come out exponentially better than when the event started. If nothing else, I'd say I'm extremely grateful for just seeing no less than a dozen friends smiling again and leading amazing lives today. I am eternally grateful for all the Freedom Alliance staff, most importantly Pepper, Mike, and Justin to name a few; each in their own right has made it their life's work to assist veterans lead a fulfilling life post combat.
I recently attended my first Freedom Allinace trip to Fish Creek Ranch in Montana. Being a first timer to any type of veteran trips or retreats I didn't know what to expect. Having attended this trip I can honestly say it was one of the best choices that I've ever made and helped me in many ways. From the beginning, Pepper Ailor, was there to guide me through what needed to be completed for attendance, booked all travel arrangements to and from, and was certain to send me all necessary information as well as itinerary of events for the duration of the trip. Throughout the trip there were group sessions and discussions to help returning warriors better navigate the many pitfalls many of us have returning from combat theaters, as well as a healthy dose of recreational activities designed to foster bonding and healing the wounds of war together as a team from all walks of life. Just like you'd expect from your time in service, the other veteran and civilian attendees I'd met were from all walks and facets of life, each bringing their own unique approaches and thought processes to the table, sparking conversations as well as times of self reflection. I'd like to extend a deep and sincere thank you, to the Rule family for the use of their beautiful property, Freedom Alliance and all those who've donated their time and efforts in any way shape or form for their generosity and compassion in helping those of us who have felt disconnected and or lost after our time in service and know that we are forever grateful.
We had an amazing couples retreat at Rita and David's lake house. We enjoyed paddleboarding, boating, dinners together, and many laughs. Nilsa was a great coordinator and a wonderful leader! We can't thank you enough for the opportunity to relax and rest.
For the past week I have felt we were in paradise. From the moment we got off the plane everything seemed to fall into place. From Nilsa and Pedro's attention to detail, loving nature, and humbleness to Troy and Sofia's wittiness, sense of humor, and knowledge, my wife and i couldn't have asked for a more perfect time to get to know each other more. Everyone we came in contact with always had a smile on their face that was contagious. Then there was our gracious host, Ren and Elsa. To open up their home to us and not only cater to us and make sure that we were taken care of, they were always present and wanted to learn more about us. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you. My wife and I have not just made new friends, we have a new family!
But Freedom Alliance doesn't stop there! Last year we were without a vehicle due to both being totaled. Then Tina and Freedom Alliance showed up and saved the day. They provided my family and I with a brand new jeep. It was so amazing and came at the right time.
Freedom Alliance and everyone that works there is amazing. They always have a smile on their face which is contagious. This is a world class group that deserves a 100 star rating!
Before I arrived in Costa Rica for the Freedom Alliance Offshore Program, Mr. Pepper Ailor was already taking care of me. From airline tickets to scheduling and even a much needed massage, Mr. Pepper was the man. Once I arrived in Costa Rica, it was like a dream. From the best accommodations to the best food and the nice and welcoming people I met to the program taught by Mr. Pepper, everything was on point. Sometimes I wake up wishing I was still there. I learned a lot from the program Mr. Pepper teaches. Thank you, Mr. Pepper and Freedom Alliance, for making this happen.
There are not enough words to describe how genuine, generous, and life changing Freedom Alliance is. My husband and I were first introduced to the organization in 2023 through the Heroes to Homeowners program, and they have been nothing short of amazing to my family. This is an organization that truly cares about veterans AND their families. Every single interaction has been a positive one. Tom, the president, is one of the most personable individuals with a kindness that you will feel immediately connected to. Diane, one of the program coordinators, is lively and goes the extra mile in all that she does. I have met many other wonderful employees of this organization, and each one has left a lasting impression with a dedication to improve veterans' lives that has truly touched my heart.
Recently, my husband and I were selected to go on a marriage retreat with Freedom Alliance. The memories and friendships that were made that weekend are so essential to build community for healing, and I am so grateful that Freedom Alliance understands this!

The attention to detail in both the "experience" and the small group program that builds on the experience is very effective to provide recipients a great outlet to share their experience and build bonds. Freedom Alliance sent myself and 8 teammates to the Offshore Experience. This was a bucketlist trip for many of us, offshore fishing in Costa Rica. Everything from the condos to the fishing boats was top notch!

I was invited to attend the Freedom Alliance Offshore Experience fishing trip to Costa Rica. This had to be the most incredible fishing trip on anyone could ask for. The coordinator (Pepper Ailor) ensured that every facet of the experience was world class, and It was because of his relationships with the donors that it was all possible. We were not only made to feel welcome, but were were included into the community. The group sessions were impactful, and the balance between the sessions and the experiences brought everyone closer together.
I've been a part of the WHOW program for two years now and it is truly a program that can change and save lives. From the first staff you meet to the Owners and Captains, especially the Donors - all personnel are absolute patriots and truly care about veterans. I was pretty skeptical at first and am a true believer of this program and it's people; WHOW is family and that is not something I would say lightly. I hope I am blessed enough to go again, but if not I know it will impact a fellow veteran in an amazing way.

I had never really heard much of Freedom Alliance or WHOW (War Heroes on Water) specifically, but was recommended I reach out by a friend of the family. Immediately I was met with extremely friend and patriotic individuals that truly cared. Unfortunately, I joined a new work project that created a scheduling conflict with the 2021 WHOW trip. Fast forward to 2022 and I was able to go out to sea. The entire experience was amazing, the other veterans and I had an absolute blast and were catered to by true professionals and patriots. I can honestly say in 19.5 years of service I've become extremely jaded with how I perceive most Americans to feel towards Soldiers and veterans. This was a truly amazing experience that not only showed me I was wrong, but helped me to enjoy life more. I am extremely thankful and grateful for the experience.

This organization 100% will have my support in the future after my family recovers from a really rough patch. Freedom Alliance has helped our family with a scholarship for my son to attend college and this year they helped my family afford a Christmas that would not exist otherwise. We have four children and this year we had absolutely zero saved for Christmas. We were even going to skip the decorations so our children would just pass by the holiday. We are beyond blessed that Freedom Alliance picked us as a family to support and will be forever grateful that our children will have a wonderful Christmas memory of opening presents with their brothers. What an amazing organization. I was really worried about Christmas this year being a single disabled veteran mom of 3. They made sure my children will not notice the struggles this year. I have shed so many tears of joy at the kindness my family has been shown. Thank you so much!
I am so grateful. Freedom alliance got my 6 kids $150 each worth of Christmas gifts. We were in great need this Christmas as my combat veteran husband went through 3 surges this year due to complications from his time in Afghanistan. It was amazing to not have to worry about affording our children’s gifts this year after so much medical stress. Thank you so much!
The Freedom Alliance Team is one of the finest organizations I've had the pleasure of volunteering with and representing as a veteran. I've been involved with WHOW for the past 4 years; 3 years as a volunteer and this year as a veteran and its truly amazing to experience both; as a veteran, seeing the camaraderie and joy spread across the new, returning veterans, crew and volunteers are a testament to how truly remarkable the team is and the outpouring of support it has towards it veterans. War Heroes on the Water was THE BEST experience any Combat Veteran could ever hope to attend. I was absolutely humbled and amazed that there were so many people in Southern California who were willing to donate their time, money, and share their friendship with us Veterans. It's really hard already for guys like us to find other people to relate to, find time to unwind and relax, and also to de-stress and heal from the experiences we went through overseas. the War Heroes on Water Program sponsored put on by Freedom Alliance DELIVERS on those needs. Everyone who worked at this non-profit was very professional, kind, and you could tell they really wanted all the Veterans to have a great time. It became abundantly clear right from the start how BIG and tough this event must have been to organize and raise funds for. You can tell that they GIVE BACK far more than any other Veterans Organization I've come across so far. They really do a great job selecting the best Combat Veterans they can also. It was an honor, and a DREAM COME TRUE to be able to participate amongst so many other heroes. If you love the outdoors, if you LOVE FISHING, and being around some of the greatest Americans this country has to offer, then this is the non-profit you want to get behind. War Heroes on the Water was a professionally and well organized event. The level of care a detail put into this could be seen through the initial contact email and carried all the way to the closing ceremony. I have never been to Southern California or met anyone outside of the military from that area and after this trip it has truly changed my perception of this part of the country. There were patriotic Americans that just wanted to tell each veteran "thank you" and to listen our journey.
There is something spiritual abut being out on the ocean, away from the noise of everyday life and just enjoying the company of other humans. It was nice to get to know several people that I plan to keep in contact with.
I was also taken aback by the level of support that Freedom Alliance provides to veterans and especially those that have been seriously injured in the line of duty. I will be forever grateful to have attended this event and strongly encourage anyone who is able to attend.
Thank you Freedom Alliance for the amazing gift you have given me. The Retreat at Fish Creek Ranch was truly life changing. My wife and daughter thank you as well. The work Freedom Alliance does for veterans like myself is honestly life changing. They blend therapeutic trauma care and team building activities to create trust which we can relate to. Freedom Alliance is an amazing nonprofit that helped me pay for school. My father, SFC Charles Adkins, was KIA in 2011. Freedom Alliance helped me pay for tuition when I needed it and always checked in on me. I feel grateful that they were there for me. They made sure my fathers sacrifice was never forgotten.
I recently went on a Fishing/Therapy Trip with Freedom Alliance. I had an amazing experience fishing. First time I have ever caught a Dorado. And also catching sailfish which was cool too. Met other Military guys there and we had similar experiences in the military. So we easily got along and began to talk about stuff that needed to get out of our chest. I know I said stuff that I haven’t talked to anyone about. And now I have these Gentlemen, that will pick up the phone whenever I need them. This trip was greatly planned by Pepper Ailor. Truly amazing week with Offshore Experience in Costa Rica! This trip far exceeded my expectations on so many levels. From the beautiful resort, to the exceptional condos, fine-dining, private island, awesome hikes/waterfalls, multi-million dollar fishing boats and all the wonderful locals/donors I was literally blown-away everyday single day. The trip was expertly organized and orchestrated by Pepper Ailor, a good man who genuinely cares about our Nation’s Vets, maintains strong relationships with the locals and a true pleasure to be around. Not a penny, minute or single opportunity was wasted and each event was well-planned down to the smallest detail. I made memories and friends here that’ll last a lifetime and this experience definitely taught and reminded me the importance of meaning, purpose, warrior spirit, camaraderie and continued service to others. I’m truly grateful to Freedom Alliance and it’s amazing donors, recommend this charity highly and without reservation and look forward to supporting them in the future.
I received the Freedom Alliance Scholarship for all four years of my undergraduate experience. My father is a 100% disabled veteran. This scholarship fund has allowed me to complete my education at one of the top universities in the nation, and I couldn't be more grateful for their generosity. The process all four years was very simple and straight forward. No fighting or hassle to secure $$$$ each semester like some other scholarships. Freedom Alliance allowed me to have a less stressful college experience. Thanks to their help, I was able to complete my undergrad education completely debt-free!!! Now... onto the J.D.
I received a scholarship from Freedom Alliance for five out of six years of my college career. Freedom Alliance Scholarship has dramatically impacted my life by helping shape my future and giving me the tools, I needed to help me finish school. My entire life, I wanted to make my dad proud and take advantage of the opportunities he has given me through his sacrifice. The moment I contacted Freedom Alliance, they assisted with everything I needed. Knowing that I had the extra help took the burden of student loans off my shoulders and allowed me to focus on school, making my family proud and graduating debt free. Freedom Alliance has continuously proved to me that they care about the well-being of the children of the fallen heroes and allow us to carry on our loved one’s legacy without worrying about financial burdens.
I am always blown away by the amazing support I receive from Freedom Alliance. They are always there for me including all the birthday and Christmas cards they send me. Although I lost my dad, I gained a new family through Freedom Alliance, and what a blessing they have been to me through the tough times. I am also honored and truly blessed to have received a car through the Driven to Serve program by Freedom Alliance and US Bank. There will truly never be enough words to describe my gratitude toward Freedom Alliance. It is an amazing organization, and I am so thankful for all the staff and the opportunities I have received from them! I am forever thankful for everything they have done for my family and me!
The people at the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund are incredible. I began receiving scholarships from them because my father is a 100% disabled veteran. They assisted me in achieving my goal of graduating from school debt free. This scholarship has changed my life and is allowing me to enter medical school with no debt. The people have been incredibly kind and helpful, I have never had an issue with my scholarship or any of the paperwork. They also care about you, each major holiday and on my birthday they send cards from the office and all of the employees sign them and leave me a little note, it's so thoughtful! I wish more than anything I could express how grateful I am for them, but I am not sure there is a way to do that.
As a dependent of a 100% Disabled Veteran, I was a Freedom Alliance Scholarship recipient for three years. Every year they made sure the money was deposited to my school account prior to the semester beginning, so I never had to worry about the payment being delayed or lost. They helped me get an article published about what my father's service means to me in the Richmond Times Dispatch for Veteran's Day, and sent me cards signed by the staff on Christmas and my Birthday every year. I'm so grateful to have been a part of their organization and I look forward to paying it forward so they can keep up their great work for future generations of dependents. - Kennedi Woods
The trip I took with Freedom Alliance and the women's veterans Offshore Experience was amazing! The days were filled with fun activities, good food, and wonderful people to enjoy them with. The deep sea fishing was a one-of-a-kind experience on a crazy amazing 68' yacht fitted for catching marlin, sailfish, mahi-mahi and other common fish found off the coast of Costa Rica. I had a great time going through the Freedom Alliance workbook during our evening sessions and learning more about the other veterans, myself, and the parallel between being military and being a warrior. This trip is a great way to share a great experience with other veterans while learning knew ways to open up about your own military experience.
I cannot say enough good things about Freedom Alliance. They have found a way to connect with veterans and support us like no other organization can. They have helped me grow and overcome many of the challenges that I face as a combat veteran. They have given me much more than the great memories from a wonderful trip, but a pathway to healing I have been searching for for a long time.

Freedom Alliance provided me with the opportunity of a lifetime. I attended the War Heroes on Water event in October of 2021. This event promised a fun time fishing on the ocean, but the way myself and other veterans were able to connect with each other along with the wonderful staff, boat crews and captains made this event extra special. I was able to make new friends while experiencing the healing power of the ocean. The way that everyone treated us veterans as heroes was a powerful thing, especially when we are surrounded by millionaires and other highly successful business persons. I have heard many people say that they support the military, this event displayed that support tremendously. I hope that I am able to continue my support of Freedom Alliance in any events that they have in the future.
Words can not begin to describe my gratitude to Freedom Alliance for the opportunity to participate in their Offshore Experience trip at Los Suenos Resort in Costa Rica. It was unlike any other veteran's trip I've had the opportunity to experience. The environment instantly put you in a state of nirvana. This coupled with the outpouring of support for the combat veteran community set the stage for the most therapeutic work group I've experienced in over 12 years. All of this would not be possible if not for the vision and efforts of Pepper Ailor. His ability to bring together the various donors to make this event come to fruition set the standard for all non-profits to aspire to. He immediately set the tone for a very effective workshop to re-ignite the warrior spirit in myself as well as the other participants. I didn't take long to appreciate the level of love and devotion Pepper has for the veteran community, Fishing the waters off the coast of Costa Rica with the other Combat Veterans, Boat Captains and Crews have created bonds and memories that I will have for the rest of my life and I can't thank them enough.

Words will never be able to describe my gratitude towards Freedom Alliance for facilitating my participation in the Sitka 2022 fishing charter. Vonnie's Charters and all the Great Americans of Sitka Alaska accepted the fourteen of us as Family and demonstrated a level of patriotism I have personally never experienced in quite some time. Mike Nares was instrumental in ensuring a seamless experience for each and every one of us. A mere 48 hours after departing Sitka, my feet have yet to hit the floor. As I tell friends and family about my trip, each and every one of them comment on the sparkle in my eye as smile genuine smile on my face as I re-live the experience. Freedom Alliance has allowed me to experience to way I used to be, before combat changed me.
It’s hard to put in to words how amazing this Organization is.
There are a lot of different nonprofits out there that have a secondary agenda but Freedom Alliance’s only focus is taking care of us combat veterans. They truly care for us and fight to ensure that we don’t become just another statistic. Freedom Alliance has proven to me that they actually care about our well being and quality of life and go above and beyond to put programs together that not only help us bond and interact but also help us to work through past traumas.

ON 11/09/2022 I HAD A MISSIONARY TRIP TO COSTA RICA . ALL EXPENCES PAID . I WAS WITH 5 OTHER VETERANS AND 2 OF THEIR WIVES . ONLY ONE THAT I KNEW WAS RECARDIO, BUT THE OTHERS TURNED OUT TO BE LIKE BROTHERS. WE STARTED OUT BY GOING TO THIS HOUSE THAT A SINGLE MOM HAD SHE HAD 2 SONS 14 AND 10 WITH THE 10 YR OLD HAVING AUTISIUM. THE HOUSE WAS IN A BAD STATE JOF REPAIR, ROOF HAD HOLES IN IT AND LOOKED LIKE IT WOULD CAVE IN AT ANY TIME. SHE HAD 1 LIGHT AND 1 ELECTRICAL SOCKET.
WE INSTALLED A NEW ROOF AND NEW ELECTRIC . IN THE END SHE HAD A BEAUTIFUL ROOF, 4 LIGHTS, 4 ELECTRICAL SOCKETS, CEILING FAN AND NWEW PIPING FOR WATER.
THIS WAS THE BEST TIME THAT I HAVE HAD FOR QUITE A WHILE . THE CAMARADERIE WAS NO EQUAL. WE WERE ALL VETERIANS, ARMY,NAVY,MARINES AND AIR FORCE. I HAD A THROUGHT OF NOT GOING, BUT NOW AM READY TO GO BACK. IN THE AFTERNOONS AND EVENING WE DELIVERED FOOD TO 2 DIFFERENT GROUPS, SOME VENEZUELAN REFUGEES, AND FAMILES THAT DEPEND ON IT, WAS DONATED BY A CHURCH. ON THE LAST DAY WE TOOK A BOAT TRIP TO AN ISLAND WHERE WE HIKED UP A MOUNTAIN, SNORKELED, SWAM, AND JUST HAD A GREAT TIME. FREEDOM ALLIANCE IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT HELPS VETS AND PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD. DONATING TO THIS WILL NOT ONLY HELP VETS BUT SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE
EVERY NIGHT WE HAD A DEVONATIONAL. WE READ A BOOK CALLED "BEFORE YOU GO". STUDIED THE STORY OF DAVID.
I LEARNED A LOT ABOUT THE BIBLE AND PEOPLE FROM OTHER CULTURES. I AM PRAYING THAT I CAN GO ON ANOTHER MISSION TRIP SOON.
WHOW was an absolutely amazing experience! The professionalism of the team was second to none! A well organized and very fun event!I was blown away by the generosity and kindness! Thank you for allowing me to attend a Rogue River Freedom Alliance trip. I had one of the best times of my life. The riverboat crew and all their captains were excellent. 5 Stars! They did a very professional job, especially Billy. I’ve never caught so many fish and laughed so hard simultaneously. Lunchtime was a special treat getting to eat what we saw that day. The lodges we stayed at and ate supper and breakfast were five stars. I tremendously enjoyed the camaraderie of being around fellow military personnel again. It was good for the heart, soul and mind.

Had an amazing time. War Heros on the Water was Such a decompression event for all attendees and myself. A spiritual reset for the soul for a brief moment that means more to my fellow fishermen and women than most know. My neighbor and I were talking about our military time and I mentioned to him that I really had a hard time with the transition from military to civilian life. He then asked me if I liked to deep sea fish and when I told him that I had never had the opportunity, he told me about this program and how it could help.
This program provided me with an opportunity to participate in an activity that I had never done before, but more than that... it connected me with others that are dealing with the same issues that I am dealing with. It reconnected me with my family, my military bothers and sisters.
Like many other reviews, my immediate family instantly recognized the change in my attitude and energy. I indeed felt better.
So long story short... I was looking for a chance to learn something new but in the end, I found peace.
Thank you Freedom Alliance!! You have provided something to me that has been missing for a very long time. Hope to do this again real soon!!
It’s nearly impossible to put into words how much of a difference this program makes. I shied away from things like this for a long time thinking that there had to be someone who needed it more.
Then I went.
What I didn’t know is much I needed it too. It really hit home (pun intended) when a couple days after I got home my wife looked at me and said, “you seem happier since you got back… I don’t know, just less stressed and less angry.”

This was the greatest experience I have ever had, besides becoming a dad, since I got out of the Army.
The professionalism, attention to detail, the friendliness, the friendships made from people all over the nation since Freedom Alliance has come into my life has been overwhelming! This event is something that I probably would never have been able to experience in my own personal time. These are memories that I will cherish forever. In a time in my life where life has just been too much, this organization seemed as if they knew I needed a break and get away from my normal life. It has been an amazing morale boost that I needed in my life. My wife and kids say that I am happier and more of life. Mike Nares is a true friend and a patriot, and he ensured that everyone that was involved felt like family.
My name is Matthew Fauls and I was a returning Veteran this year for WHOW 2022. This is hands down the best fishing trip that I have ever been on. It is an amazing event that is put on flawlessly. It’s always a great feeling to say hello to so many familiar faces and friends as well as make some new friends every year. This is a special tournament for me. It gives me a chance to get out on the water away from whatever it is I’m dealing with at home and just unplug from real life for a few days and just wait for the rod to bend and get that next fish on the line. The other special thing about this tournament is a chance to meet new veterans and the boat captains, owners and crew and share stories and get to know each other on a personal level. This tournament truly is changing and saving lives and look forward to being a part of WHOW for as long as I can. I’m a retired Marine EOD technician and WHOW is by far the best fishing trip / event I have ever had the pleasure taking part of. This trip really helps. To be able to get out on the water for a few days with fellow veterans, civilians and being able to just disconnect from the world and being able to fish, talk to new friends and just relax and forget about all your problems back home is truly a life changing experience. As you can see from the pictures we really bounded with everyone on board and made life long friends. I still talk to everyone that was on the Tenacious with me. I cant say enough good things about this event. It is well planed and every detail is covered. The yacht owners and everyone involved in WHOW really did an amazing job and took great care of all of us. This was truly a life changing event and I hope to be able to continue to be a part of WHOW
WHOW and Fredom Alliance are a unique experience and most of all, an extended family and camaraderie among us, after God they showed me there’s light at the end of the tunnel, am grateful for what they do for the veteran community, as a proud marine dad, my son informed me about Fredom Alliance and WHOW, the rest is history. I’ve been on a few trips from freedom alliance. I can tell you that every experience has been mind blowing and amazing. Freedom alliance and WHOW are family to me. The most amazing tournament ever. I’ve been apart of WHOW for 4 years. I wish I could contribute more myself to help more vets. I know the feeling being apart of it and it helps. If you are a vet, I recommend contacting freedom alliance to get involved l. You won’t regret it. The one thing that will benefit WHOW is that there should be a way to freeze the fish so that vets who fly can bring back their meat to enjoy with family. That is the only negative thing for some vets. I’m local, so I don’t like to freeze my fish until I vacuum seal them when I get home. Haha. But, everything else is positive. Thank you Tom, Justin, Pepper, Mike, Anthony, and everybody else who donates or helps out in any way. It truly helps us Vets heal.
WHOW 2022 was a great experience. We were treated especially great the whole trip from being greeted at the airport after landing to talking with Freedom Alliance staff at the airport before departure.
I can't thank Freedom Alliance enough. Pepper, Justin, Mike, and every other staff member work tirelessly to ensure our every need is met. It's hard to describe the comradery during this trip. It's unlike anything I've experienced outside of the military.

I’m very impressed at their approach to making their events world class. They are on time for every scheduled event, and they do this while moving a large element from venue to venue. The events are super fun, and they bring the much-needed camaraderie to the participants. If I could give them 10 stars I would. This organization gave me a wonderful gift! The drive to serve program, collaboration between Freedom Alliance and US Bank, gave me a Jeep. One that I desperately needed. I felt honored by the organization and they treated me and my family very well. This organization is truly one of a kind. This family of empathic Americans are hands down the best organization. They communicate with care and effectively made me feel appreciated and loved. I left the experience with new friends and a renewed sense of belonging. Being a Sailor, the others always harass me like we expect of each other from war zone to home base. Twisted way of showing comraderie but wouldn't change it for the world. My PTSD is suspended while I am with other warriors and the staff are amazing facilitators. The Double E ranch in Wyoming is an oasis surrounded by Gods country. Full of adventure, peace, and talented people. I humble appreciated my experience and will have a positive memory to balance the not so happy ones. God bless to you all.

I am SFC Charles Collins a medically retired Army veteran with 14yrs and 4 deployments as a Infantryman. Since being retired in 2014 I’ve struggled to find my way home from the wars I was in. I’ve tried almost every available therapy or treatment the VA provides and until a brother linked me up with Freedom Alliance I was never able to take steps towards healing. I attached pictures of the fun stuff we did on this trip but the therapy we conducted everyday was life changing and transformative. This organization has done more for me mentally in 8 months than anything I’ve found in 8 years. Freedom Allinace is saving lives and I include myself in that statement. I will never be able to repay them for what they have done for me but I will promote their cause and scream their praise to everyone that’s willing to listen. If you are seeking to help veterans take steps towards healing I believe Freedom Alliance has found the path.
We first found Freedom Alliance about 10 years ago, when we needed help with Christmas gifts for our kids. We have been so blessed since the time we reached out to them. Their staff and donors are absolutely amazing. Freedom Alliance truly serves those who served our country. I can’t thank them enough, especially Tina and her husband Greg. Freedom Alliance has been there for us through our good and bad times, and our lives would not have been the same if they hadn’t rescued us from our post deployments downs. My husband and I were completely blessed by the time we got to spend getting to know the other couples on our trip to Wyoming and the hosts as well! We’re going through the retirement phase of Army life after 25 years. This trip was a great way for us to break away from the to-do lists, reconnect, and spend time in God’s creation. We needed time to decompress, and didn’t realize it until we got there!

I’m going to start off by saying Freedom Alliance has one goal and that is taking care of those who have served! I was lucky enough to be selected for the Offshore Experience and it truly was an amazing experience! It wasn’t just the trip to Costa Rica, or the fishing but the group sessions we had showed just what the company is striving for. To give back to those who volunteered and sacrifice for the Freedom that they cherish so much.
Our host for the trip was Mr. Pepper Ailor and I have to say he has to be one of the most grateful and genuine people that I have met! It was an honor to spend the amount of time I got to spend with him.

I will start by saying I don’t know how to sum everything up I want to say without boring you to death with word vomit. Freedom Alliance is an outstanding nonprofit that does a wonderful job taking care of America’s Warriors. There is an annual fishing tournament off the coast of California called War Heroes on Water where over 100 combat wounded veterans get together for a four day offshore fishing tournament. It is nothing short of AMAZING!! From the second you get there, the WHOW team goes above and beyond for the Veterans who attend this event. It is one of the best experiences I have ever had. The relationships I made at this event with the volunteers, my boat crew, and other Veterans are ones that will stand the test of time!!
Freedom Alliance has been instrumental in helping me pursue a college education, as they have supported me with a scholarship over the course of several years during my undergraduate degree which I am extremely thankful for! All of my interactions with Wanda have been super helpful, easy, and transparent, and she has been a godsend in making sure I was still able to pay my bursar bills on time despite significant roadblocks put in place by my school which made the application of my scholarship a headache. Wanda and the team have always been incredibly kind and supportive, and I could not have finished or even pursued my education without their help; the dedication and care that this organization shows towards veterans and their families is absolutely incomparable, and I could not have had a better experience as a student without their help!
The weekend at Lake Lanier in Gainesville, GA was an amazing trip for my wife and I. We met new people, experienced new things and let our inner child come out. We have been dealing with a lot of stress in our life and marriage. With this weekend retreat we were able to forget about stress and was able to enjoy each other again and just let go. I miss those times. Not only did Freedom Alliance make it possible for us to forget about things and have a great time with each other but Rita and David did as well. Their son and daughter-in-law were awesome also, making sure we had fun and got whatever we needed to make our stay absolutely amazing. Even to the point of the son pushing my wife in the lake twice, I’ve never seen her laugh so hard in a long, long time. It was great. My wife never had a pedicure in her life but Rita made that possible and David gave her the ride of her life on the tubes he pulled behind his boat. They took the guys fishing while the girls got special treatment. I enjoyed guys time, we talked about everything and anything, it made me feel like they knew what I was goin through and gave some great advice, it was from one soldier to another. And can’t forget I was the only one that caught three fish (LOL.) I will never forget how much fun we had those days. Also riding the jet ski and having my wife hold onto me made me feel her love an how much she does hold on to our marriage even when the stress becomes to much. I know that she puts up with so much and I know I don’t deserve her but with the help of Freedom Alliance and the as awesome company , she reassured me me that she is never going to give up on me and will be there no matter what. I can’t say how much I really appreciate Freedom Alliance for giving us this opportunity for us to reconnect, have fun with each other again and extremely amazing memories. We will never forget this experience nor will we ever forget the amazing, and wonderful couple Rita and David. We love them and hope to see them again in the future. I also want to say thank you to Justin and his wife Loni for being there with us and making sure we were takin care of throughout the whole time. Best coordinator ever! Everyone and everything was AWSOME!!!

I am a proud Military Dependent in which my mother served in the Army and was KIA during Operation Iraqi Freedom. She become the first Native American woman to be killed overseas with the 507th Maintenance Company. My mother's ultimate wish was that my sister and I get a college education and with the generous help from Freedom Alliance and all the great staff like Wanda, her wish was granted and I was able to graduate from Northern Arizona University with a BS in Exercise Science. I am truly thankful for all the support through the past two years of my college career as it definitely helped take a stress load off my shoulders not having to worry financially about school. I hope to return the favor one day by helping this wonderful organization.

My daughter's father was a veteran who was 100% disabled. Freedom Alliance provided financial support for my daughter as she attended college, encouraging notes and acknowledgements of her birthday. My daughter felt that although her father had passed on, through this organization, he was still helping her with college. The Freedom Alliance Foundation has been a great support for my family and I while pursuing my postsecondary education in Canada. Wanda is a wonderful person who is incredibly helpful and patient. She would check-in with me and my family every so often; and I would always receive a card on Christmas and my birthday each year. I have never felt as appreciated more in my life. Freedom alliance does so much for Combat Veterans, they give us a place to meet other Veterans in great places. We enjoy fantasic support in helping each other sharing stories and things we learned to overcome, to help each other. All expenses are paid to help Disabled and those on a fixed income to do things we could never do. I could not recommend a Charity more.

I wish I could do more than 5 stars for this scholarship. They have gone above and beyond for their students. It started my freshman year with sending out care packages for finals week, which as a freshman that really encourages you for something you've never experienced. Then my sophomore year they sent me a sweatshirt. And every birthday they always sent me a card and gift card. Wanda, the person I communicated with, always took time for me. When I was confused, she called me in her off time and helped me. She's taken time to get to know me and what is going on in my life, beyond just school. She allowed me to re apply when I decided to take a fifth year in college, with covid and everything else in life. She's been an amazing person and always cheers me on and encourages. I wish I could work for this scholarship because it seems like it is life giving and has helped me through five years of college and continued to believe in me. They allowed me to pursue education and goals that can be achieved through higher education. They are amazing. When I get a steady job, I will be giving back to this fund.
I can not thank freedom alliance and us bank enough for blessing me and my family with a new 2019 Dodge Journey. This organization is the best! The whole process was smooth from start to finish , even with working with different people it really felt good talking to everyone through the process. What an amazing organization! Freedom Alliance has build one of the best programs I have ever been apart of. Freedom Alliance has partnered with and continues to find donors who are truly invested in helping the Warrior Spirit heal. During a recent “Offshore Experience” trip to Costa Rica our group of Warriors had the pleasure to meet with several of the donors. Listening to their reasons why helped me understand that our community does care. Because I had no worries about lodging or expenses on this trip I was able to put all my energy into healing. But it was not like other trips. Pepper the experience leader has partnered with an amazing psychologist by the name of Dr. Tick. He is the author of several books such as Warriors Return. The approach Pepper used to help me process my personal struggles was unlike any other therapy or counseling I have been through. Using Dr. Tick’s theories and Pepper’s personal life experiences this program has come together in an amazing way.
So to all who have given to Freedom Alliance in the past I say thank you. Thank You for the boats provided for fishing (Fish Tank and Miss Behavin), thank you for the condos to use, the golf carts for transportation, thank you for the meals provided and the gear used.
If you are looking for a great organization to give to look no further. You can look into the financials of Freedom Alliance they are the real deal. Take it from me this is one of the best programs that really focuses on healing the warrior spirit.
First I am not at all good at writing things. so please bear with me . I cannot begin to thank Freedom Alliance and pepper enough for the amazing trip to Costa Rica . In a time of my life right now struggling with things going on . I got the email on a Thursday to fly Monday for week of deep sea fishing trip and seminars to cope with combat stress ptsd . I have never had a group session so this was a first . It help that all where in the same combat area that I was in and roughly around the same year. Even one was there as a marine and I was army at the same time I was. He was part of the QRF force for a incident involving my platoon.
The donors where extremely friendly and loved talking to them about story’s and history of Costa Rica . They made us feel extremely welcome . Again thank you so much .
I attended an all female retreat with Pepper had an amazing experience. The people were amazing and everyone treated us so well. I even met a donor that she and I had a great connection. The places we saw and attended were so beautiful that at times the serenity of the place was enough to take your breath away. I enjoyed the curriculum of the experiences and loved how Pepper brought history of warriors to the forefront of our minds that allowed me to remember that i am not alone, i am not isolated and that i am apart of a history of warriors throughout the time we have had on earth. This was a great way to help myself rethink and retrain how i perceive myself as a combat veteran.
I had the opportunity to attend Freedom Alliance's Offshore Experience in Costa Rica. It was a once in a lifetime experience sportfishing and enjoying the area. What really stood out to me was how integrated donors were in the trip. We got to really connect with the kind people who made it possible. It felt like being taken in by a whole caring community.
It is rare for me to meet fellow women who have first hand experience of war, so the chance to connect with the three other trip participants was wonderful. The program itself with its sessions and prompts for reflection and storytelling was intentional but not overbearing. We had plenty of space to enjoy Costa Rica but enough structure to ensure it was meaningful and much deeper than just a fancy vacation.
The Freedom Alliance organization provided my wife and I time to reset for a week in Costa Rica. Pepper was absolutely amazing and organized a relaxing week in the most beautiful country. We got to enjoy the sunrise every morning and be immersed into the local culture. Freedom Alliance offered us once in a lifetime experiences, exploring the rainforest and swimming in stunning waterfalls! We could not be more grateful to Pepper and Freedom Alliance for their hospitality.

I cannot begin to thank Freedom Alliance enough for the amazing trip to Idaho. It was a great way to destress, while also spending time with dedicated members and donors of the organization. The way the trip was designed and executed permitted meaningful conversation between participants and organization members, fostering a lifelong bond. I am grateful I was able to experience a Freedom Alliance trip, and I hope to be apart of this organization for years to come.
Pepper is an amazing person! This was a trip of a lifetime for sure. I can’t thank him and all of the donors enough for everything! Words truly can express how much this trip did for me mentally. I felt a stone lifted off of me from our amazing talks.
WOW! Where do I begin. So much to share. What a wonderfully empowering experience personally and I'm sure for my new group of "battle buddies". I can't remember another time in my life where the trust is created in opening up to and sharing with other veterans the very sensitive and personal stories we have mostly buried to forget, and because opportunities to relate to others who understand just doesn't present itself in life. Like others in the group, I have taken advantage of many healing opportunities over the past many decades. In none of them have I felt the close kinship of this group. It is true that warriors of all ages could come together to tell very similar stories - it's just the weapons of destruction that have changed.
From by initial contact with Pepper who coordinated the trip to his carefully filling in all the details as we came closer, to the wonderful attention to detail throughout, it just couldn't have been done better. Pepper's rapport with all involved, participants, contributors, residents of Los Suenos and all we came in contact with was impressive during the trip. I cannot say enough about his patience, listening and communication skills. Truly a leader in his own right.
The trip home - one of farewells and reflection. At home, a sense of loss. The detachment from the group both evoking happiness and sadness. The adjustment profound in some respects. Putting all the shared experiences back in the drawer for safe keeping not so easy. That I have a new group of Vets to find comfort with through the good and trying times is very reassuring. Thank you to my new battle buddies, Pepper, and Freedom Alliance. A treasure beyond comprehension.
And the program. I don't think Freedom Alliance could improve with anything. All of the activities were structured in a way which offered an opportunity to build close relationships and engender teamwork in supporting each other.
I highly recommend Freedom Alliance for any veteran still struggling to find his way "home".
Before and throughout the event, the communication was excellent. The expectations were clear and the execution was professionally orchestrated. I feel fortunate to have been selected to attend, and at a point in the genesis of the program where the workbook and the structure of the talks (sessions) we had as a group, were refined and enhanced by Pepper's experience in implementing this program several times before our group was to attend.
It was evident that a lot of research and thought went into the structuring of this program and the time we spent together down there. I'm not just speaking for myself here. Over the week I've had many conversations with the other Veterans who attended, and all echoed the same sentiments.
We all very much appreciated the format these conversations took and the safe environment that was created, perfectly designed to make us feel comfortable with sharing things that we had been holding close to the chest, many of us having done so for a very long time. A bond was formed, a camaraderie between folks who are able to acknowledge the pieces of themselves they see in others, in their stories and experiences. Amongst this small group of Veterans who served in combat, who saw action and experienced horrific things in the name of God and Country, that camaraderie is hard fought for. It is something that is rarely valued until it is lost. And all of us there this week had lost it at some point in our lives before coming here. The connection to others that could help us share the burden, the weight of our experience. We may not have realized it until we got there, but we all recognized it for what it was, and we understood how much we truly had missed having that type of deep, meaningful connection to another human being who had experienced what we had.
One of our group even expressed that the things he shared with us he had not shared with his wife of 25 years. Think about the close, personal connection that you have with your own spouse. What it must mean to hide away feelings and experiences that you didn't feel comfortable sharing with them. The weight of that burden that is carried alone.
The conversations and the sessions aside, I also wanted to take a moment to let you know how impressed I was with Pepper. To get a group of crusty vets like us to dig as deep as we did is no small feat. It is clear to me that his passion for this mission and for Freedom Alliance is something to be valued and commended, and now I have personally benefited from his compassion, empathy, and his ability to connect and build relationships with people. It seemed everywhere we went in the Los Suenos community, Pepper and the Freedom Alliance mission were well known. Pepper goes out of his way to connect with everyone he meets on a meaningful level, and I noted that he knew everyone's name. It takes a special person to endear themselves in the hearts of so many. He truly is the unofficial "Mayor of Los Suenos". Security guards, our driver to and from the airport, hosts and servers at restaurants, owners of businesses, even the chef came out from the kitchen to greet us and check in on us. The owners and crew of each of the boats in the harbor that we walked past enroute to and from the boats we were assigned, they all welcomed us graciously.
To Pepper Ailor, our host, thank you for a job well done. Please know your efforts have had quite an impact on me, the other veterans in our group, and the Los Suenos community.

I attended the War Heroes On Water (WHOW) 2021 event. It was amazing. It was well organized and communication regarding the event was superb. I was surprised at how quickly and casually of group of strangers with a unique common experience could bond so closely. It was a refreshing reminder of the strength and resiliency of the human condition.
What I learned is this: It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, allowing your perspective to become skewed and to forget what really matters; making new friendships and renewing old ones. Finding common ground across the miles with people you have never before met but who have similar experiences, triumphs and failures alike, with no fear of judgement or pity, but just compassion and understanding.
This trip is EXACTLY what my soul needed to hit that "reset" button.

I am a medically retired Army SFC who has struggled with a lot of aspects in life since losing my career. I honestly wasn’t sure how to feel about Freedom Alliance at first until a brother from the 101st recommended them. After going on the offshore experience trip to Costa Rica I’m convinced that this program has the recipe for success with combat veterans. I’ve personally done a vast amount of different therapies and treatments that all had some value but lacked in other areas. Freedom Allinace has opened my eyes to a entire new world of healing and breathed a new sense of life and hope into me. I only wish their reach was broader and more struggling veterans had this opportunity. The environment they create and the program they run has a healing value I have yet to find in any VA. I will be donating myself and ask that if it’s in your heart to help veterans this is exactly the organization to support. Freedom Alliance and the Presents 4 Patriots (P4P) contacted us just prior to Christmas and let us know we had been accepted into the program, providing a few extra gifts to our children. At first we were a little skeptical but eventually agreed…..not sure who nominated our family. We are very grateful and happy to have been part of a great organization, staff remained professional, and provided the reassurance my family was not taking away from others in greater need. This program is great and proved the right amount of support at the right time without being invasive.

Regardless of age, gender, race, and branch of service, you put bunch of veterans that have never met before in a 15 passenger van, within a few minutes, that common bond veterans all share opens up. I don't recall the last time I laughed so much and smiled so long. This trip was like hitting the reset button for me. Went to Costa Rica with Freedome Alliance on a veteran retreat with 17 other veterans was and amazing experience and was treated like family... The busy schedule they had for us like fishing and ziplining help keep our minds off of our injuries and disabilities... This trip was an amazing healing experience for me and the other veterans... Thank you Freedom Alliance for everything you do for our veterans and Active duty men and women....
This year I was invited for the first time to take part in war Heroes on Water. This also marked the first time that female combat veterans were invited to the event, and we had 2 all female boats competing.
Ever since we arrived by plane or car on the first day, we were treated like royalty, every one was supportive and everything was planned out into detail, so that nothing would go wrong. On the first night we had a great opening event at the founders house, engaging in conversation and having some drinks.
Right the next day there was a optional event to visit a car museum, which very exciting to me since I was a mechanic in the Army for 11 years. After our short trip it was time to start the ceremony and get everyone on board of the yachts.
My crew from the "El Cazador" was absolutely amazing! Friendly and very caring, over those couple of days they cooked us some of the best meals I had in a long time.
Our girls team did great with the fishing part of the trip as well, we caught a 165lbs and a 101lbs tuna, which landed me in 6th place overall and my teammate Mea in 7th place overall. And this was my very first time fishing...beginners luck I guess.
The weigh in of our fish was amazing it seemed like the whole island of Catalina was at the pier, and we were like celebrities, being interviewed and cheered on by the locals.
The last night was one great party, and everyone connected no matter where we were from or if we knew each other. That is one of the great features of being a veteran and having such a great veteran community.
I can only say Freedom Alliance and war Heroes on Water gave me an experience of a lifetime, I have never felt so appreciated before.

Freedom Alliance is an amazing institution who gets it. They are dedicated to specific missions optimizing the funds they receive. Their hard work as an organization is only surpassed by, the passion they feel for helping the Veteran community recover.
Make no mistake, recovery is an ugly business by nature. It implies damage has occurred. The programs provided by Freedom Alliance, address several key areas of need.
My last experience was War Heroes on Water-2021. I was able to meet up with a fellow squad member, who I haven't seen in 10 years. I will always be thankful to Freedom Alliance for bringing us together.
Being apart of this tournament has been a life changing experience. Meeting my fellow brothers and sisters in arms during a competition, is a feeling like no other.

Freedom Alliance is a life changing organization. The programs created by this organization are surgical in the way they approach augmenting the Veteran community.
Being part of the Offshore Experience truly changed how I approach life. This particular program by design, assists veterans in their recovery process. I will always be grateful for their dedication and service to others.
As a Purple Heart recipient and a participant in Freedom Alliance events, I can give my deepest and most heartfelt review of this amazing charity. The world can be a crazy place and when young men and women return from life changing experiences it can be a culture shock to return to “normal”. Freedom Alliance has really tried to bridge that transition.
By enabling war veterans to heal through social events that bring brothers and sisters in arms back together again it really heals the scars of war. Freedom Aliance has been a real catalyst to healing and the preservation of our nations warriors to inspire and train the next generation.
I do not have enough positive things to say about our time with the members of Freedom Alliance. I have been involved with the organization for two years, and it has always been an amazing experience. The War Heroes on the Water event has continually exceeded my expectations, and increased morale amongst Veterans. It allows us to come together and share our experiences, creating life-long friendships. I am so thankful for all of the support from the donors and partners of the organization. Veterans have made significant sacrifices, so events like War Heroes on the Water builds resilience in the community. Thank you again!
I was amazed by the Freedom Alliance staff and how caring they were towards the vets and volunteers for the event we just had War Heroes On Water (WHOW). They put in tremendous amount of time and effort to ensure this event was successful. The vets, generous yacht owners, volunteers, and the everyone who came out to support the event had a lifetime experience from making connections with one another. First time on this trip. It is a great experience to associate with other veterans. It helps with camaraderie. It is an experience that I will not forget as transitioning out became difficult, but to talk with other veterans eased some personal issues that I had at the time. I had an amazing time on War Heroes on Water, Thank you so much Freedom Alliance. With out organizations like this one many veterans start to feel lost, and too many turn to suicide. I am thankful for Freedom Alliance for allowing me to be a part of WHOW.
War Heroes On Water was nothing short of amazing. Freedom Alliance, the yacht owners and crews, and all of the sponsors and contributors really put together an experience like no other. When I arrived at the hotel I was greeted by a very friendly and welcoming staff, checked into my room, and then met up with some old friends and began to make some new ones. The treatment we were given was almost overwhelming. Most of us are not used to people showing so much appreciation for us, but as much as we like to stay out of the spotlight, it really does feel good to know there are people out there that feel that way. During the tournament, the crews worked tirelessly to put us on the fish and help us land some sea monsters. There was an instant connection between all of us on board, even though none of us had ever met each other. The crew wasn't just out there doing their job, they really wanted to give us the best fishing trip of our lives and they seemed to enjoy every minute of it. The yacht owner and his family were some of the nicest people I've ever met and I'm still in awe of their generosity. I met two other veterans that I fished with on this trip and got a chance to share some of our past experiences. When we weren't talking about that, we were talking about how fortunate we were to be on that trip. Once all of the fishing was done, all of the yachts met at Catalina Island for the weigh in. A great time was had by all on the pier as each boat craned off some of their biggest catches and we all were able to get back together and swap sea stories over a few beers. At the end of the night we all went back to our assigned yachts in the harbor. The following day, we made our way back to the hotel and got cleaned up for the awards ceremony that evening. More beer, wine, and sea stories followed. Individual and team awards were given out for multiple categories. The awardees all had a chance to speak to the crowd and share a little about themselves and what this event meant to them. The consensus among the vets was War Heroes On Water was one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences of our lives!
I was invited by Freedom Alliance to attend the 2021 War Heroes on Water fishing tournament this year. The whole experience was life changing. Being around other vets and supporters having a great time helped me more than I can ever express. The best part was being out at sea with no cell phone service while being with other veterans talking about our experience while on active duty. It gave me a chance to connect with people who had been through similar experiences.
I can't say thank you enough to Freedom Alliance for inviting me on this trip. I will never forget it.
Freedom Alliance has been my escape for the past 2 years. From facilitating video chats to wrap up our weeks to excursions all over the country; they have allowed me to connect and reconnect with brothers I didn't know I needed in my life and brothers I needed back in my life. Some of which i haven't seen in about 10 years. The trips they have sent me on provided me a place to be my self with no judgement and escape the realities that allow me to become grounded and refreshed. I have experienced many of my firsts, including participating in a deep sea fishing tournament, and seeing the beauty of a west coast sunset (which is probably one of the most calming things you can experience). I look forward to applying to do more with Freedom Alliance, and I honestly cant wait!

I really can’t put it into words it was the First one I was able to attend and the support for the veteran community and humbleness and kindness shown through out this whole tournament was amazing a big shout out to all the freedom alliance staff and Anthony from loan depot and his graciously allowing us come into his home and willingness to do all he does was overwhelming and I’ll be back to this top flight tournament experience was life altering to say the least but again thanks for all you all do you go above and beyond.

Amazing nonprofit that was able to bless my kids during Christmas when my husband and I were experiencing hardships.
I was recently blessed with the opportunity to attend the Offshore Experience (Costa Rica) by Freedom Alliance. I was unsure what to expect upon arrival but must say, this is a top tier organization! Pepper has the Offshore Experience finely tuned and his passion for Veterans and the success of the program is very evident throughout every aspect of the program. The experience was not only filled with amazing adventures such as catching my first Sailfish and an ATV tour through the jungle, but also some of the deepest and most personal "working sessions" that have greatly enhanced my healing process and outlook on my warrior journey. I came home from Costa Rica armed with new relationships and different perspectives to help me fight my "battles". I have, and will continue to highly recommend this amazing organization to fellow Veterans!

They helped me graduate with my bachelors degree, by providing the funding I needed to finish my education. I am forever thankful. They were very personal, and I could tell they care. They sent cards during holidays and birthdays, which they personally signed, and helped me find other resources I needed after graduating.
Freedom Alliance has been there for our family since my kids were in high school. Wanda and her team helped us realize that my kids' dream colleges could be a possibility. We have faced so much uncertainty since my husband's death, and it was such a relief to know that Freedom Alliance was there to help support us. They are passionate, fun, understanding, and have become an extension of our family.
As a dad and and veteran of 31years in the Army I can honestly say the helpfulness and response times of the scholarship crew has been nothing short of outstanding! The Offshore Experience is a once in a lifetime experience. Pepper’s attention to detail is second to none and is visible in every aspect of this trip. The people we met, the experience we had, the food we ate we’re all amazing.
The experience is more than just fishing. We work through a workbook that provide us warriors with tools to help us make sense of the warrior experience we go through. Tools that Will be in my tool bag forever and I will always reach for these tools when I need them.
I was able to catch a Marlin, sailfish, tuna, and dorado during this trip. The memories, people, tools I came across will forever be with me. Freedom Alliance is putting warriors first and us warriors are grateful for the work they are doing.

"It's a privilege to serve," I tell people when they thank me for service. It's a dual meaning since not everyone can serve, and I am privileged to have served others. Thank you, Freedom Alliance, for your service. They are the good guys amongst non-profits that extend genuine selfless service to America's veterans and their loved ones. Their programs help veterans reconnect to a better version of themselves. They demystify the perception of how communities perceive us. And, they support those incredible family members who deserve as much appreciation as we do.

Amazing. Life-changing. Phenomenal program. —Best short description I can muster. I thank my Savior Jesus Christ for this awesome experience (which there’s another story in itself of how this program came about for me). I believe undoubtedly His hand brought me to Los Suenos thru this program and the incredibly kind-hearted donors.
I’m forever grateful for Freedom Alliance, Peppor Ailor, and for each and every person that made this happen—including the great and caring folks we met. This ‘vacation’ allowed us to open up w/each other as combat veterans in an unconventional, yet very comfortable way. The environment significantly engendered a safe, relaxing place to unwind and release things we tend to compartmentalize. We shared experiences, how we learned to cope, and were introduced a unique and Biblical way to address our problems—something I never realized before, but was there all along, as well as other historic tribal methods of healing their warriors.
‘Life-long warrior’ mentality will remain a core principle of who I am, and this trip unveiled the importance of that concept to me and to ‘carry it forward’ as a mentor for others. Pura Vida!
After questioning myself for so many years and my purpose in life post military career I truly had a breakthrough and an amazing experience. I met amazing people and excellent information was put out, information that I am trying to put into action everyday. I got to share with other veterans and see myself in some of them, I was motivated by them something I have not felt in years. I am doing much better because of what I got to experience there and the people I got to know. Freedom Alliance is a great organization that truly cares about veterans. One of the main purposes of the Freedom Alliance organization is to honor and support America’s military and meet the rehabilitation needs of wounded Service Members, combat veterans, and military families. Well, I’ll be the first to tell everyone that reads this short article that this wonderful non-profit organization is definitely living up its mission!
This unforgettable Freedom Alliance fishing event that I participated in proved to be very beneficial as it enabled each Warrior the opportunity to get to know each other better, talk about our past military experiences, and tell funny stories about our lives as well as our families. It also enabled us to learn much-valued fishing tips from one of the many volunteers (yes, they actually volunteer) fishing captains that provided their own time, crew, boats, fuel, and energy taking us to beautiful fishing locations in and around Sitka, Alaska. Although the seas were rough at times, they still showed us a fabulous time and each Veteran departed Alaska with at least 50 pounds of Halibut, Lingcod, Sea Bass, Black Rockfish, and King Salmon.
For me, I was fortunate enough to catch a lot of fish – but this trip wasn’t about fishing at all. The trip for me was really about all of us safely getting together during a very rough past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, being able to enjoy the serenity and beauty of Alaska, and to heal, both mentally and physically. It also provided me an opportunity to learn some deep-sea fishing skills that were never taught to me while growing up in the land-locked state of Utah.
Freedom Alliance Patriot, Mike Nares, planned, organized, coordinated, de-conflicted, and executed a flawless fishing operation for Veterans and I’m positive he had to overcome numerous obstacles prior to everyone showing up to Sitka. The obstacles for the Veteran’s consisted of fulfilling Alaska’s rigorous COVID testing policies and following Mike’s stringent packing list (thanks for the advice of bringing Dramamine!). Both “obstacles” ensured that the Veterans and hosts were in a safe and secure environment.
Without non-profit organizations like Freedom Alliance, many Veterans would never have the opportunity to meet great American Patriots that support the Military and provide trips like the one we had in Sitka, Alaska. Again, the Warriors that participated in this event would especially like to thank Freedom Alliance for an amazing opportunity and Vonnie and Dave (owners of Vonnie’s Charters) for their hospitality and for logistically supporting all of us and treating us just like their family. We are ever so grateful to everyone that supported this operation and we all cherish the moments we were all afforded to hang out together. I know that we met friends for life on this trip and I personally look forward to future fishing endeavors with them. Fair winds and following seas.

Freedom Alliance is amazing! After being injured in Iraq I was not able to fish or hunt with my family. Freedom Alliance gave me that Freedom back by giving me a trek chair. They make you know you are not just a name but a part of the family. During covid I wasn't able to get the access I needed for mental health and Freedom Alliance was able to find me a laptop to use to facetime with my counselor. I can't say how grateful I am for everything they have done!!!
We heard of Freedom Alliance in October by one of our Semper Fi Fund caseworkers. My husband is a wounded warrior Marine. We lost our eldest daughter, Alexis, to Lafora Disease in 2015, then my husband retired and then we brought our 2 young nephews and almost teen niece to live with us, early this year I was diagnosed with cancer and Covid came... These last few years have been dark and draining. When we contacted this organization in reference to “presents for patriots” we had no expectations. Within days we were contacted and shortly there after gifts for the children arrived. We really can not express our gratitude enough of the support received through people willing to support this organization. This group truly seems dedicated to assisting our Veterans in ways that most do not.

This organization provided our family with so much JOY this Christmas. This absolutely helped us to focus on Nathan's (active duty Marine fighting stage 4 cancer) medical care and our daughter is enjoying everything she has received. I tear up every time I tell someone about this opportunity because our daughter was showered with love, support, and presents, and she is loving every bit of it. This year has been extremely difficult for us with nonstop cancer treatment the joy that these gifts brought and being able to play with everything with our daughter will forever hold a special place in our hearts. I am just honestly so grateful for this organization!!!
They are wonderful. My daughter received all her gifts before Thanksgiving! The process for qualifying is very simple and I appreciate this organization for providing my daughter a Christmas when we needed them the most. We are so grateful for this organization because without them my daughter would of had nothing for Christmas at all this year. Me and my husband are both veterans and our local charities made the cut off for children 10 My daughter is 11 this year. They truly made one child so happy! I enclosed a picture of a present she was allowed to open one early when her elf came! Of course our elf received help from freedom alliance! We are forever thankful for organizations like this who help veterans in this difficult times.
I missed the deadline to apply by nearly a month, but hurting so bad I figured I'd try anyways. While they couldn't accept me because they were full, they still sent me an Amazon giftcard with more than enough to make my Christmas special. This is one group who honors us Veterans the best way they can, by truly helping us and our families when we need them most. So much more than a thank you, this was a life changing experience that me and my children will never forget. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Freedom Alliance is really doing well with communication with the clients, they provide opportunities and information that the clients can use and help them with there future.
So, as everyone knows, I hold @freedom.alliance near and dear to my heart. Their selflessness to our nations wounded combat veterans is astonishing. Recently, I had the honor of helping honor the life of an EOD veterans daughter. I never thought in a million years that helping with something (in my mind to be something of a very small gesture) would have torn so hard at my heart strings. I LOVED having the opportunity to facilitate this gift to Robert and his better half. We were able to gift him a Traeger PTG Suitcase pellet grill with a custom memorial plate adhered to the front in memory of their late daughter. None of this would have been possible without the help of @graeger_grills at the Ruggieros ACE Hardware in Chandler, AZ, @sdhq in Gilbert, AZ @mikenares @jdmiles7 @pepper.ailor and of course, the entire family @freedom.alliance

Freedom Alliance is an organization that is honest, full of love, and genuinely committed to their cause.
They ultimately change the dark path that so many of our veterans fall course to after they leave the service. A path that in too many cases overcomes them and ends too soon. It destroys whole families and ruins the futures of too many children.
The more donations they receive from great people like yourself, the more veterans they may reach in the ultimate time of need. Please help them to do more.
I speak as a veteran who was blessed by this organization.
I witnessed so many volunteers work tirelessly to achieve the goals of this organization for me and my family. People don’t work that hard if they don’t believe in who they are working with.
When I met Freedom Alliance, they welcomed me as if I was one of their closest family members. I can not express enough how genuine everyone here is; they are truly good people.
Everyone I have met from this small organization has had incredible passion for what they are doing and the reasons why they are doing it.
I am just one of many disabled, dysfunctional, lost vets out there. I never wanted help. I served 22 of the best years of my life with some of the best this nation ever produced. I was ten foot tall and bullet proof, and proud as can be. I loved my job more than anything in this world, and, broken as I am now, I’d do it all over again without hesitation.
After I got out of the service, I became very lost. I fell into a darkness that I struggled endlessly to fix on my own. The VA, psychologists, and prescriptions didn’t help me, and I was too proud to ask for help outside of what the VA gave me. I went down this destructive path for several years until I was able to open my eyes and finally see how bad my family was suffering. It took seeing their distress for me to swallow my pride and ask for help.
Freedom Alliance helped me in many ways:
First, when I was in my darkest place. I went on some fishing trips with a few of my brothers who were also struggling, and that is by far some of the best medicine I could have received. The first time I went, I realized I wasn’t alone in my struggles. I discovered I didn’t have to stay off the grid and hide from everyone. I now had some close people I trusted, without judgement, I could reach out to and not feel so vulnerable with from exposing my weakness. A very few, select brothers I could finally relate to, and we could now “compare notes” together, and in turn, help each other through the rough times and make some sense of it all. Anyone who has had to struggle with something significant can understand the difference it makes if you’re not alone.
There are many organizations out there now that are helping veterans and have been a blessing. I’m vouching for this one, as first-hand knowledge, that they represent everything I would expect in a charity organization. They set the bar as an example for others to follow.
Second...
Freedom Alliance, partnered with US Bank, gave me a house to restart my family’s life. It’s the greatest and also the very hardest thing I’ve ever accepted from anyone. It was hard to accept because I’ve worked hard for everything I’ve ever gotten. I don’t, to this day, feel like anyone owes me a thing.
But after I got out of the service, I was no longer able to provide for my family like I had. I was failing at everything, no matter how hard I tried. This was an incredible gift that has given my family a place to call home again and restart everything in our life together. I didn’t know how much our lives revolve around a home until we lived without one for so many years. I was trying to run from my problems instead of facing them, so we lived in a van for 18 months. Because I ran, I dragged my family along with me, and we’ve been living in a travel trailer now for about four years. This dark journey killed us financially, spiritually, mentally, and the road we took just broke us.
I have been humbled by this journey. I have my struggles...but we all do, don’t we? Now that we have been blessed by Freedom Alliance and US Bank, I can focus on fixing my problems a lot easier now, and my family can relax and enjoy life much better now.

I can’t even express the amount of gratitude, happiness, Hope, Love, and Joy. In my heart at the moment. I would like to thank God, first and foremost then Diane Davie for reaching out informing me about this beautiful program because I had no idea to even know where I was going to start. I also would like to thank Travis Ratliff and his church for adopting me and my family and reaching out to me and taking the time to formerly getting to know me with welcoming ears. He and I happen to share our favorite scripture(s) and connect through the spirit of God on how good God has been to the both of us. We ended our call laughing our heads off which made me feel really great compared to the feeling I was having before calling him back. I would like to God is good and merciful and I’m very thankful and blessed to know that there are good and selfless people out there who cares about others. I've never had an experience like this. I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to give the kids the Christmas that they deserve; now we are, thank you!
My husband who is active duty military was injured in a motorcycle accident while heading home from a toys for tots ride. Nothing is more scary then locating your husbands phone at the ER. He was in ICU for a few days before going to a rehabilitation center for over a week. Damage to his arms are very bad and will need a couple more surgeries in the near future. It’s going to be a long and hard recovery. We are very lucky he is alive! With these injuries I’m am his caregiver and not able to work during his recovery. Once I heard I was not going to have a paycheck I thought about our 3 kids and the holidays coming up. As a parent I wanted my kids to have a good Christmas especially since now our lives have changed so much in the last couple of weeks. Thanks to Freedom Alliance for getting our kids gifts to open on Christmas morning. If you guys didn’t come to the rescue our kiddos wouldn’t have anything for Christmas. This has been such a blessing and we are so grateful for everything!

The help received from the staff was caring, professional, and confidential to me and my family as well as the supporters. The supporters seem to be so generous and selfless. My husband is a disabled veteran, and I am a nurse. I was on a travel contract, bored at night, looking at organizations that help veterans. Anything to help him find his purpose, I was always looking for that. I stumbled across Freedom Alliance and we weren't eligible for a lot of the programs, because he was discharged in 2010. I pulled up the Heroes to Homeowners program and saved it to print the next day at work, thinking this will just be another thing we apply for and never hear back from. I submitted the application and within a few days we heard back that we were being considered if we were open to moving. The Heroes to Homeowners program offers a mortgage free home to a veteran. Within a couple of weeks we were told we had been selected and they were bringing us to Missouri to see the house. Freedom Alliance in alliance with US Bank were giving away 4 separate homes on Veterans Day. We found out that we were in fact selected for the home, and that if we wanted it, it was ours. The ceremony that they did, and all that they have done for our family far exceeds any expectations that I ever could have dreamed of. We are beyond excited to start our new journey in our new home, and become ambassadors for other Veterans, and help in any way we can. This experience has been so humbling, and has allowed my husband to have dreams, and feel things he hasn't felt before. I thank Dee, Tom, Calvin and all of the other people at Freedom Alliance who made this dream a reality for us. The thought that was put into all of this from the hotel room, to the card before we left, to the house was extravagant. We will forever be grateful. On November 11, 2019, my family and I received a mortgage free home from Freedom Alliance and US bank. We do not have words that reflect our abounding gratitude. Freedom Alliance is filled with wonderful people whom are helping Veterans and active duty Soldiers in many many ways. The organization supports Soldiers and veterans in their healing process through supportive medical equipment to retreats to mortgage free homes. They make a lifetime commitment to their families. They support the Soldiers/veterans through the years. We are honored but more so they honored our service to our Nation. They gave of their time, worked on our home and then to our family by treating us to a weekend leading up to the home dedication. Your support to Freedom Alliance gives them the ability to continue to support our Soldiers and veterans that are still at war; abroad and home with their injuries they have incurred.
Untill that weekend I have never been around so many other wounded veterans. I was nervous at first as what to expect. Not for the whole thank me for my service and let you do everything for me routine. But that was not at all want happened. From the reception to the closing dinner you could tell that everyone there was genuinely committed to showing their appreciation and respect by just letting us relax and have a great stress free weekend. This was my first time deep sea fishing and the crew of the Incognito was awesome. No hand holding or coddling. They showed us how it is done and challenged us to do better. Which to me is what is missing after combat. The trill and pride of completing a challenge put in front of you.
This was one of the best experiences that I have ever had and would recommend it to fellow combat wounded veterans. Hope to return for the 2020 run.

I heard about this organization from a fellow veteran. i attended the war heroes on water tournament, I was treated like family and was able to meet fellow brothers. I felt very comfortable the entire time. iI had the best time of my life and I'm not exaggerating. Thank you to everyone that made it possible for me to enjoy such a great event.
I recently returned from a trip to Wyoming with Freedom Alliance. This was my second trip with this organization and it keeps getting better. I spent 5 days with other wounded combat veterans and couldn't have had a better time. Everyone I met was incredible from the people supporting the event to the Freedom Alliance coordinators and to the other veterans. Spending time with like-minded people is probably the best therapy you can get. Freedom Alliance planned everything and ensured that everyone had options that would make the trip comfortable no matter what. The best thing about Freedom Alliance and the people that support it is their attitude. True Patriots who can't do enough to help the veterans. It was obvious that all involved didn't consider it a job but more like an honor to give something back to those who served. It couldn't have been any better.

I recently attended a trip with Freedom Alliance for disabled veterans. I'm honestly still processing all the ways in which I benefited. I know from personal experience that a lot of disabled veterans just want to survive day to day without too many challenges. Freedom Alliance showed me that there's still a lot of ways to enjoy life other than getting by. They selected a specific group of veterans that they thought would get along and they were right. We had a great time and are already keeping in contact and planning on getting together on our own. The trip was perfectly coordinated and the support from Freedom Alliance and the true patriots that sponsored the trip was amazing. I've dealt with a lot of different organizations over the years but none have come close to making real help so painless and successful. This was my first event with Freedom Alliance and I am VERY impressed! I was amazed by the level of support that small town showed. I was fortunate enough to attend the 2019 War Heroes on Water event. This fishing trip was by far the most exciting and enjoyable experience I have had.
The staff at Freedom Alliance was a pleasure to work with and ensured I had everything I needed to attend this event. They were also very accommodating and made special arrangements as I had to fly in out of state.
I am originally from southern California which is where my family still resides. I hadn't been able to visit my family in years. I wanted to fly in a week prior to the event beginning so I could spend time with my family. I wasn't able to book a flight through their website for the dates I wanted. I contacted them asking if that could be arranged, although I was more than happy to pay for it myself. Freedom Alliance was gracious enough to make sure I had a flight booked for the dates I requested.
The crew of the yacht I was assigned to was outstanding and I don't think I've seen anyone work as hard as they did to make sure I felt comfortable and had a good time.
I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and having a stress free trip like this with other veterans gave me a better outlook on life.
I can only hope more veterans will be able to attend events like this through Freedom Alliance in the future. It is my firm belief that Freedom Alliance helps disabled veterans by showing us we aren't alone and people care.

This was an incredible experience to say the least. The bonding I felt with others and being able just to relax out there and talk about everything and everything was unreal. That was such a wonderful, successful retreat, thank you for including me. I wanted to thank all of the people(especially you)who were involved in putting together the retreat. I know what a huge effort it took to make this first Dr. Tick Warrior retreat so great. I had so much fun from the beginning till the end. It was quite apparent we all had a great time. I have never been in the company of so many people that were so welcoming and anxious to nurture new friendships. That is indeed what happened; we made many new friends. It was like being with old friends, even though we had all just met. I can't say enough about the location, the atmosphere, the people involved, the daytime adventures and of course the food. What a wonderful experience!
The Freedom Alliance offshore fishing experience has opened my mind and heart for the future for myself and all our brothers (and sisters). Like ripples in water or the butterfly effect very simple acts have an immense impact and influence. Living with the lasting hardships of war the day to day struggle can be consuming and anti productive. Getting to a fresh, beautiful and exotic environment opens the self to receive growth and knowledge. starting down a new path of restoration and healing by getting guidance from one another has been the most beneficial part of my journey and transition back from the front of the battlefield physically, mentally, spiritually, as well as emotionally. The relationships formed are the concrete for the foundation in maintaining a life balance that have benefits beyond words i cannot convey, but only try to help others understand how much it has helped me personally. We must also keep the spear sharp for the future war fighter and this keeps readiness and the standard very high. Its an honor to represent such a caring, generous, and loving community. We are one and i extend my personal thanks to each and every contributor to Freedom Alliance.
As a combat veteran, I had the pleasure of being honored by Freedom alliance, led by Pepper Ailor. Never in my life since the military, have I felt this type of comfort by an organization. They, as well as contributors put together a trip to Costa Rica, where we shared stories, remembering the good times, as well as the toughest of our lives. During our trip, we held seminars, fished, relaxed, and looked upon amazing scenery.. With all these amazing events, the most important thing- was being together with those comrades, that knew and lived the same story.. It was weeks ago, and as I sit at work today, I still feel my heart there, and at peace.. If you can, please donate or contribute to Freedom Alliance, because it saved my soul.

Our family were very happy with this Blessed vacation After my husband been fighting almost 3 years on cancer we found out on couple months that he is free and Freedom Alliance helps us to celebrate my husband birthday \uD83C\uDF82 and enjoyed every moment with my husband and have a chance to keep our family together. They listened our needs for our family and matches with beautiful destination that Tina Wholen helps to become a reality our family will be always grateful.

When you think of a nonprofit organization; the first thing that comes to mind is kindness!! Thats how I can describe Freedome Alliance.. So, I would like to share a snippet of the life our family lives currently. My husband lives with chronic nerve damage, combat ptsd, and debilitating pain.. We were given an application to Freedom Alliance with no preconceived ideas of what this amazing nonprofit organization did. So we filled it out and later found out that we were accepted in the program where donors provide families a christmas to take the financial burden and pressure off of the parents to give our children some joy, when with all due respect feel the same pain as both my husband and I feel each day. This organization has been nothing but laughing, kindness, joy, fun, new relationships, and just pure happiness knowing that we are now apart of a community of families and DONORS that just want to give pure joy to one another!! I can not even explain what it has been like during this short time to get to know the admins and families and to feel like we have know each other for so long,,, but when dealing with so much pain and hurt you realize that knowing that others know what you are going through just helps make transitioning from military life to civilian life a littler easier, and knowing there is support is so amazing.. Freedom Alliance has been incredible.. Kindness is the word i use when i describe the feeling associated with this nonprofit organization!! I can not thank all those behind the scenes that do this in silence to know how incredible you individuals are and the heart you have to help all of us.. it never goes unnoticed and the amount of gratitude i have is beyond words.. This year we thought we had this all under control and as usual life takes its own course - between medical bills and illness scares we went through alot this year. Freedom Alliance was the most professional, memorable, and downright outstanding organization I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. From the communication and coordination, to their genuine kindness and positivity, this Non-Profit far exceeded my expectations regarding a Veteran Retreat. I was chosen to attend the Freedom Alliance "Offshore Experience" fishing retreat in Los Suenos, Costa Rica in December of 2018, and from start to finish, was completely blown away. The outstanding coordinators, such as Pepper Ailor, all the donors, and everyone associated with Freedom Alliance were very involved with ensuring every detail of the trip was taken care of. Getting to meet the donors and contributors on this trip was extremely valuable. For a Veteran like me, who finds himself in a dark place on most days, this trip allowed me to leave all the stress of work and home life behind for a few days, and just focus on enjoying myself, meeting some new friends, and sharing one really amazing experience with some fellow Vets, and several very generous, patriotic Americans. On day one, we were greeted by a wonderful, incredibly generous, and kind donor named Virginia Lindholm. Virginia and her husband Gerald donated the use of their condominium at Los Suenos Resort for the entirety of our stay. We immediately felt welcome and relaxed as she literally lended us her home for the week. Throughout the trip, she was there to ensure that our stay was comfortable and make certain that we were cared for. Other donors we met, such as Bob Schwegler, Captain Dave Harris, Captain John LaGrone, and Carol and Jay Angus were so giving with their time, homes, meals, fishing expertise, and other tremendous efforts to make this trip as memorable as it was. We fished on a beautiful trophy fishing yacht donated by Mr. Jim Smith, and because of his vessel, and the professionalism and skill of the Captains, crew and staff, we had a perfect, incredibly successful couple of fishing days. I felt as though our visit really meant something to them, and I can see why a potential donor would want to be involved with this organization. Freedom Alliance offers donors the chance to meet with, and be physically present for the Veterans that they are helping out. I cannot recommend this charity enough, and very much look forward to being a part of anything and everything Freedom Alliance has to offer in the future.
Freedom Alliance turned our family’s Christmas into something we were stressed and worried about to a beautiful, happy event! Our family has had a rough time lately, but they made our Christmas one less thing on our plate so we could focus on taking care of our situation. I can’t stress enough how thankful we are for what they did for us!
I retired from the Marines in Aug 2017 and I have had a hard time with the transition. 2018 was Avery hard year as I lost two jobs and was challenged by my PTSD and other issues. I was worried how I was going to provide a Christmas for my 4 children. Freedom Alliance helped me in so many ways. They made it so my kids had a Christmas and it took away the anxiety I had been having leading up to the holidays. I can’t say enough about how great Freedom Alliance is. I’m truly grateful for this great organization!

We are always on the fence about asking for help. We know there are people out there who will always need it more. This year we needed help. A good friend put me in touch with the amazing people at Freedom Alliance and a giant sigh of relief when finding out we were accepted into their program. Now knowing how you are going to get through the holidays without tears from your children is a burden nobody should face. People always says good things come to the people when they wait. When my family struggles daily with one income at the time and couldn't afford the holidays for my family it broke my heart. I was invited to go hunting on the Campbell Ranch with Freedom Alliance. When I first heard it was a Veteran appreciation hunt, I immediately thought "Not another psychiatrist retreat". This trip was about challenging yourself. I was surrounded by strangers and war has made me a loaner. Sometimes I feel like I dont fit in. Freedom Alliance sent the nicest people to welcome me. Gerald, Virginia and Pepper from Freedom Alliance are genuinely just good people. And I enjoyed every minute of this trip.
What an outstanding organization. I am being medically retired from the military after 20 years of service. The unknown has been a bit unsettling. Thankfully Freedom Alliance with the help of their outstanding supporters stepped forward to assist my wife and I with our transition. Never bow fished and all the people involved made the trip and learning fun. Everyone involved made the experience one to remember,i do not go on many trips but this is definetely one i would try again. Thank you again to freedom alliance for the great experience.
I have done 2 or 3 events now with Freedom Alliance and with Pepper. Everyone I have met and hung out with have been some of the nicest and amazing most sincerely selfless people there are. They give of their time and resources to help me and my brothers have a brief moment away from our lives. They ask nothing in return there then we come enjoy some time away and have a few laughs and a few smiles as we enjoy the events. I can personally tell you Ive watched my best friend be MISERABLE for weeks, and after this last trip and being down on the water for an hour I saw him smile and relax and enjoy a few of life moments again. There is no substitute from making a person remember why we keep fighting and moving forward with life. Thats what Freedom Alliance does and there is no way to say thank you enough.
Freedom Alliance has a heart of gold for veterans! I was invited to Los Suenos Costa Rica and it was a trip of a lifetime filled with new experiences with fellow service members and overly appreciative civilian supporters. The staff of Freedom Alliance goes overboard to communicate, coordinate, and and execute a first class event. As a combat wounded vet, I was made to feel 'safe' and relaxed for a short period of time which helps my healing and extends to my family. They get a more peaceful dad and husband back in the house. I just completed an amazing experience hunting in South Carolina with 7 other vets. Pepper's communication and helpfulness made the difference. Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge were our hosts and treated us all like family.

Our first real interaction with Freedom Alliance was a phone call from a lovely woman congratulating us for being chosen for the Presents for Patriots program. She told me how cute our children were and we chatted for a bit--I was connecting with a real human who had an interest in our lives and needs! Then we were able to choose specific Christmas gifts for our kids (even more than we ever expected!). We were also added to a Facebook group where we were able to connect with other wounded veteran families (which is SO important and beneficial), played fun games leading up to Christmas, and had the opportunity to win prizes. Freedom Alliance sent us a Christmas ornament and handwritten cards from grateful citizens all across our nation. The notes is the cards were absolutely touching. After Christmas, we submitted photos for a contest with AMAZING prizes. Providing gifts for families in need at Christmastime is enough of a gift...but to continue to give tangible gifts leading up to and after Christmas was even more exciting...and just as precious is the gift of recognition and appreciation. Plus, we are now connected with a whole group of people who know exactly where we've been and what we deal with and that will truly be the gift that keeps on giving. I've never heard of Freedom Alliance before, but I will be sure to share about them with others now!

After being medically retired from the Marine Corps we have struggled to make ends meet during the holidays and adding that on top of an already rough time of year due to PTS, depression and unwanted memories, we have always had a terrible time. Presents for Patriots helped to take our focus off of the negative aspects and helped us loom at the good and positive ones. Our sponsors made it so we did not have to worry about gifts for my children and showed them that there are people out there that care and are willing to be selfless so that others may benefit.

This was our first Christmas after he was medically retired. Money has been tight as we are readjusting to our new lives. The struggles that my husband has gone through both mentally and physically has been challenging to say the least. With the whirlwind of changes my husband and I did not think we would have much under the tree this year. It broke my heart to think that my six year old daughter would wake up Christmas morning and the one thing she asked Santa for would not be there. What can I say besides AMAZING!!!! This is an organization who goes above and beyond for military families. I was not in a position to truly “participate” in Christmas. Freedom Alliance is amazing. They and the donors made our Christmas amazing. Our children had to have some scary surgeries this year and we were dreading what to do for Christmas. I am 100% service connected through the VA and Military, I am an OEF and OIF veteran. I am a single mother of 2 and recently unexpectedly had to gain custody of my sisters children, now i have a total of 7 children . Every day is a struggle mentally, physically just in general. This holiday season was going to be horrible, absolutely nothing to look fwd too at all. I had no clue what to do, not even being able to afford extras like a tree, lights, decorations certainly not presents. This program has taken 300 pounds of weight off my back. The lady Jenna that has contacted me and worked with me through this has been so kind. I am usually a closed in person, but she has made it easy to talk. I was extremely embarrassed too have to reach out for help but with her personality and the way she communicated with me ,I never felt judged or less of a person. I can not thank her, the program or any of the ladies working together too make this possible for families enough. I can't wait to see the kids faces on Christmas morning. This is the first time I haven't felt alone in a very long time. Thank you !!
After a year of despair the holiday season was looming. My disabled veteran was inpatient at a facility 2.5 hours away fighting the ptsd that almost ended his life. My three very young children looked at the prospect of a holiday together and gifts under the tree. The reality was that hurricane Irma had depleted our savings and the commuting to see Daddy took what else we had. I applied for holiday support through late night tears praying for a call back. Every person I have been in contact with has been incredible. They’re kind and compassionate. Heaven isn’t the only place with Angels. Christmas morning, my girls will wake up to beautifully wrapped packages just for them. The magic remains as each gift is signed from “A Christmas Angel” I can not thank the generous donors for my children’s complete joy. The biggest gift I have is knowing that there’s an amazing organization that supports and helps those who truly need it. Thank you for this incredible gift.
I would just like to share how thankful my family and I are to participate in such a wonderful program. With all the craziness in the world right now, it is nice to take the time to remember there still are caring people out there. this outdoor adventure was the most spectacular and therapeutic i have ever experienced. being in the wilderness with great people, beautiful wild life, and being able to experience all this with my best friend and brother has made it all the better. thank you for this opportunity to experience a adventure of a lifetime and meet more life long friends .

Not sure where to really begin about the service provided by Freedom Alliance. My wife and I spent a weekend alongside several other military couples and cannot be more grateful. We made new friends and discovered the beauty of Lake life. The weekend was a much needed break from our normal busy life and provided the environment for us to reconnect and just relax. I had the pleasure to be included on a trip hosted by Freedom Alliance. This was a trip of a lifetime. From beginning to end the entire experience was world class. The Freedom Alliance staff was exceptionally well organized and left no detail unpolished.
The adventure itself was a reunion of sorts. I was severely wounded in Iraq and was reunited with my platoon mates. The time spent with these American Heroes was priceless. These warriors were flown in from all over the U.S. and given the royal treatment. We spent 4 days in the Colorado Rockies fishing and catching up on a decade of lost time.
Freedom Alliance gave me and my comrades the type of therapy that you cannot get from a doctor. I am forever in your debt.
Thanks for everything that you have done and continue to do. America needs more organizations like yours.
As a 22+ year active duty Marine that has two Purple Hearts (meaning I deployed often and have had some tough times), I really appreciate Freedom Alliance and their dedicated efforts to the healing of warriors. Their staff goes to great depths to ensure trips are planned; but even more importantly, all of the "little" items to some are handled. Those little teams mean so much to some of us- seat preference on the plane (I'm an aisle guy due to leg injuries), to roommates and the personalities that would mesh, to making sure the Veterans truly don't have to worry about anything while at a venue.

I had the amazing fortune to be included in a Freedom Alliance event that brought together veterans for a deep sea fishing trip as part of the 2017 Grouper Grapple in Florida. I can't even begin to thank the Freedom Alliance, it's amazing donors and those who planned and executed this event. It was an absolutely amazing experience and one I'll never forget. On the outside, this trip was a fishing excursion where combat veterans could actually get together, enjoy each other's company and meet new people while doing something very fun. To me, however, it was much more than that. It was a chance for me, and others, to finally let our "guard" down, to truly relax without worrying about anything for once and truly have fun. Being in the great outdoors is amazing and this was a testament to how something like this has longstanding affects on our combat veterans. I'm not a doctor but I can say that the Freedom Alliance and these types of events have done more for me than years of medicine and doctors appointments ever did. Thank you to the Freedom Alliance, their supporters and everyone involved with this organization. You're doing more for veterans than you'll ever realize and we're all eternally grateful. What a wonderful and giving non-profit! From the top down, this organization does its job of taking care of veterans and their families. We were fortunate enough to receive a mortgage-free home from Freedom Alliance and US Bank. Never did we think we'd be involved in such a life changing event. My significant other is a combat wounded veteran who has sacrificed so much for his country. His service was recognized by Freedom Alliance and we now feel we have an extended family courtesy of Freedom Alliance. Thank you for giving back to us veterans!

The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund provided a wonderful weekend to myself and other students who lost a parent in combat. I would just like to thank them for everything that they do and for giving myself the opportunity to me others who were touched by the same loss I was touched with years ago. Every single one of the students, donors, and employees I met that weekend brightened up my life and left a mark that I will cherish forever. I think what they have done for all of us students is amazing and I am eternally grateful!
Meeting new friends and families that are at different stages of their recovery process during a vacation at Drowsy Water Ranch in Colorado, gave us a sense of belonging again. At a time when loneliness is part of our daily life, it is great to share laughter and experiences while being surrounded by new friends who have had similar experiences. I have had the pleasure to attend two trips with Freedom Alliance and these guys are amazing! I have been in the military for 17 years and let me tell you that they are by far the best nonprofit organization out there. I have had a couple issues over the years and these guys have showed that we aren't forgotten. I hope that Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, and Coast Guards man have a chance to have a positive experience like I did.
Freedom Alliance provided me and several other service members the opportunity to go deep sea fishing in the Outer Banks and I cannot express how great of an experience it was. Being able to cut loose and enjoy camaraderie with other vets while fishing on some amazing boats with great people will easily be a highlight of my year.

This organization cares very deeply for the vets and their families as well. Whether it is spending time talking, getting coffee, being a an event together as heroes, getting medical equipment that a hero needs or helping one of the children get college funding, Freedom Alliance is there to help. They match caring individuals with heroes and their families to partner together to make Christmas a true celebration for the family, as well give an ear to listen to the fears of a vet. They do whatever is needed to meet the hero's needs. I have been helping their mission for almost 9 yrs now and feel very happy with what I see and hear about what they are doing. I always do my Due Diligence with any organization I donate to and I have not been dissatisfied when I look into where all the funds go. Our family of nine hit some extra hard times this year. With thousands of dollars going in to both of our povs, our a/c went out (we fixed), our heater went out which we are still waiting on a part, and the list still go's on. But we made it to the end of the year. Still smiling and trying. I tried to save money for the gifts but something always broke and we needed the money. I was told about this group. I really didn't want to fill out the things. I didn't want to need help for our family. But I could no longer find a way on my own. We don't have family or friends so it fully is on us. Which is ok. But anyways I filled it out. I got a call explaining the rules and reasons. Still holding my breath.
The staff was so polite every phone call every email. They gave me hope when I felt lost. The day before Christmas Eve four boxes showed up. I was still in disbelief that someone was actually helping us. Christmas Day was so different for the first time in my adult life. The kids had gifts someone other then my husband and I. We had no clue what they received. We watched them open with tears of joy and surprise. I can't thank all of you and the sponsor families. Without our help we would have had nothing under the tree. But you gave even me a new experience too. I am so greatful to all of them for what they did!
We give to our stuff and clothes to a local veterans group.
We Breed pure breed German Shepards puppies and donate them to veterans and police officers. Many of our dogs are service dogs.
But we have never asked for help till now. And I am so very glad we have. We have never struggled so hard and not made it on our own till this year. I can't say thank you to them all enough.
Truly thankful for this wonderful organization that helped my family have a super wonderful Christmas with their Presents for Patriots program. There aren't enough words to write that capture the joy, the excitement, and the tears. We are grateful for this non-profit that makes a difference in the lives of the people it serves. As a 16 year combat veteran, recently medically retired for combat related medical problems, I have given so much. I see the world differently than I did before the military. I struggle from time to time as a single mom of 2 young men. I have sacrificed many holidays without my family. My family has sacrificed holidays without me. This non profit orginanization is giving my children and myself something back during this holiday.

A review from my husband who attended the Rogue River fishing trip this year-
I have never been on any fishing or hunting trips. This trip that you gentlemen set up was perfect. After being told by my doctor I couldn't work for at least until January because of the stress, depression, anxiety and hyper vigilance, I fell into a dark place. A place I have been many many times before. And spent a very long time crawling out of. Thanks to you gentleman this pulled me out quick fast and in a hurry. It is hard to find other warriors that you can get together and really connect with. This was a perfect moment in time for such a thing. I was able to open up and talk freely about things that others just don't understand. It was great to feel the freedom of no worries. I felt like my old self again. The fishing was outrageous. The guides were excellent men. And each place we stayed at along the way was better than the last. Although I will say they were all great places with great hosts. I have never caught so many fish before in my life. Even if they were squaw fish. I told Pepper that when you go on any kind of trip, towards the end you start to want to get back to your bed and your couch and the comforts of your home. But this was not one of those trips. I wanted to continue down the river. No matter where it led.
I can not thank you enough for such a great opportunity. I also can not thank you enough for your great hospitality. I hope we are able to meet again in the future.

My husband, Retired SSG Dennis Cline, is a combat wounded amputee, he was injured 10 years ago on September 11, 2006 in Afghanistan where he lost his left hand and forearm among other injuries relating to an RPG blast. We spent a full year at Walter Reed Army Medical Center working on his recovery before he transferred to Fort Carson to regain his active duty status and continued to serve for another 9 years post injury. During his time at Walter Reed we endured many hardships besides those related to his recovery; two of our three children required serious medical intervention. Our youngest was born with a cleft palate and developmental delays relating to Autism so we faced reconstructive surgeries, speech and occupational therapy, and hospitalizations due to other birth defects. Our middle child, was born with a heart defect which also required surgery soon after we arrived at Walter Reed. To say the least, we had our hands full with his treatment and our children’s medical issues during that time. That year at Walter Reed was kind of a blur but you can imagine a broken man whose face was burned, shrapnel damage all over his body, and a missing left hand being wheeled down to the pediatric unit to sit by the bedside of his children as they came out of surgery. But he was determined to regain his strength learn to cope with his new life and limitations. We started hearing about outdoor programs for wounded vets which would give him an opportunity to get outside again, enjoy nature, and briefly forget about the struggles he faced, it was a great motivator!
Before long, we met someone from Freedom Alliance and we immediately we felt like they cared about us, everyone was very understanding and thoughtful making sure our entire family had their needs met during our time with them. The process of recovering from a traumatic war injury is not a straight path; it is a winding and often dark and frustrating route with many setbacks but also many victories. Having the opportunity to leave our problems behind, if only for a weekend is such a psychological boost that it is hard to explain. Knowing that people out there care about his sacrifice and want to do something nice for him is such a humbling experience and we are so grateful for not only the organization but also the people who donate their time and money year after year to help all the men and women who have given so much of themselves to this country. All we can say is thank you, thank you for not forgetting those who came home broken, thank you for honoring those who serve, and thank you for creating an organization to showcase the kindness and generosity of this great country.
These folks really took the time to make sure I had a great experience. With all the issues surrounding my recent medical retirement I don't get out much. Not to mention the complications of medical concerns, finances, and numerous other variables. And Freedom Alliance really made sure that I was covered and my wife was comfortable and confident about my care while on the trip.
Since I've been back from combat I've been running a thousand miles an hour trying to find rest, to get my mind to stop spinning and find something to make me feel again. It seems contradictory, but those of you who have seen combat understand what I mean.
I've been in counseling for years, attended programs to help veterans adjust to civilian life and living outside a combat zone, but nothing compared to last weekend!
Having never hunted before and once again seeking something that I heard would give me an adrenaline rush like none other I jumped at the opportunity to attend this event.
I say all of that to say this..."I had the best Veterans Day/Marine Corps Birthday ever! Not only was I able to spend time with my brothers in arms, but I was treated like a king! The food, the accommodations, the gear they hooked me up with for the hunt, and the truly appreciative people who acted on their gratitude for my service was just the beginning! I was treated for the first time since my injuries like I wasn't broken! I felt normal, I felt a part of something, I felt proud, I felt truly appreciated, and I felt honored by everything they did for me! The key word being that i FELT again! I cannot express enough MY thanks for everything they did for me and how much this last weekend finally allowed me to find rest!
One last thing, if anyone is reading this and can relate to anything I've shared, give freedom alliance a shot, and hunting too, because what and who they introduced me to this weekend has given me an outlet finally to cope with life as a combat vet!
I'd like to thank Freedom Alliance, and specifically Ryan Behm, for a great rafting trip on the Rogue River. Though weather was a factor, Ryan was able to adapt our plans to the shifting circumstances, ensuring the trip exceeded all expectations. I can think of no better way to spend a few days than in the wilderness with the crew of veterans that were on this trip.
I would like to thank Freedom Alliance for the great opportunity to participate in the pheasant hunting trip which took place from 4-6 Nov 2016 in Idaho. This was one the most memorable events I've experienced during my military career of over 28 years. The people were extremely knowledgeable and very professional during the entire trip. I've always been a proud service member; however, I'm also very pleased to say that Freedom Alliance is an organization that serves the armed forces with honor making the sacrifices we make each day well worth it!

Freedom Alliance made a great hunting trip for me and the rest of the veterans that partook in the event. I have experience with other nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to helping veterans heal from injuries and wounds sustained during, or in support of, combat operations. With that said, I can wholeheartedly say that Freedom Alliance puts a tremendous amount of time and effort into helping disabled and battle worn veterans.
Personally, I can say my experience at the Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge weekend helped me more than anyone probably could tell. I don't really speak to, get along with, or like many people. But that weekend was different, I felt at home with Pepper Ailor and the rest at the lodge. I felt more like myself than I had in a very long time. I was able to get outdoors and be one with nature. I felt alive again.
I truly hope others, like myself and the other guys there, are able to feel the joy that I did because of the efforts and dedication that Freedom Alliance has to serve those who have served.
Freedom Alliance is the best organization out there. They have made me and my family feel like there family from day one. My only regret about them is I'm not able to return the help they have given me. I am hoping that one day I will be in a place to do so until then words can't express enough thanks.

Thanks to this amazing organization my family and I were able to celebrate my husband's retirement on a 7-day cruise. My husband was injured in Afghanistan in 2011. After 5 long years of rehab, my husband said fair winds and following seas to the US Navy. Pepper, with Freedom Alliance, knew my husband would not have a party and would quietly move to the next chapter and afforded us the opportunity to go on the amazing cruise. We are ever so grateful and have made lifelong friends who know what our everyday struggles are like. Pepper, Ryan and Alicia are more than just friends they are our extended family! We were lucky enough to be able to attend a week long vacation in Beulah Colorado. The events lined up for the families that were in attendence were absolutely amazing. It was definitely an experience to remember. We got to do so many things and what we enjoyed the most was that all of the activities were family friendly. The Royal Gorge was breathtaking and the Train ride was a hige hit for my 7 year old son. My 3 year old daughter who is also a mini train enthisiast was equally impressed. The horseback riding and ATVing was something we dont normally get to do so we enjoyed the experience. Overall it was an amazing opportunity to be able to see the beauty that Colorado has to offer. We are so lucky to have been a part of this experience and we have Freedom Alliance and its donors to thank for that. Freedom Alliance is an organization that truly cares about the families that they assist. Every employee is extremely personable and has a heart of gold. Mission based trips like this, based upon serving God with the camaraderie of fellow Marines feeds the heart, soul, and mind!
I had not heard of Freedom Alliance before the Trip to Githioro, Kenya, but now it is top on the list! I served 8 year the Marines as a combat engineer, with two tours to Iraq. It had been 10 years since I had contacted my former squad leader from my first deployment, but when he has made a post about a Veterans/christian Missions trip to Kenya, I felt as though I fit the bill so I jumped at the opportunity. When God answers a prayer, He does so in a Big way. In mine I asked Him to open up doors of opportunity to witness and serve others. and wanted most of all the opportunity help missionaries doing God's work. So, this trip got thrown in my lap just three short weeks prior to departure, fully paid for.....I'd say it was answered!
The trip was extraordinary! Being able to take a step back into a third world nation, and doing so with fellow Marines brought with it the memories of our deployments, a chance to reminisce over all the hard times and laugh about all the great times. Even though I had some hard moments in combat and brief bouts of post deployment jitters, i never had to deal with severe PTSD, injuries, or mental burden when I return...many other did.
This type of trip though was a first of it's kind, because it's main focus was serving others (the missionaries) and above all serving God by sharing our faith and devotion to Jesus Christ in our christian walk. This trip was perfect in that it combined veterans with varying levels of experience in their christian faith and military background. This benefits everyone, especially those veterans less versed in this area, and gave opportunities to witness to those members, and both people benefit. I firmly believe that due to so many physical and mental hardships resulting from combat following war, there is only one treatment and that is a relationship built upon Christ Jesus. It is He and that faith and community of friends that you build through mission work and a local church that will without a doubt mend all the frustrations and hurt, it works time and again. Alcohol, cigarettes, pain meds, depression meds, and the like only cover up the issues doing nothing help.
Freedom Alliance though has a long history in organizing trips to help veterans work through their issues through hunting, fishing, excursions, and now missions trips. The most beneficial trips are those made up of smaller groups, 3 - 8 people, because it allows more one on one sharing and stronger relationships, and Freedom Alliance facilitates these types of groups.
From the bottom of my heart I thank this organization and what they do! This experience will never be forgotten for the rest of my life, and forged several brand new friendships, and there's not better feeling.

Hi, my name is Aaron Kim, I was invited to go to Sitka, Alaska last week may 13-17th with freedom alliance. It was a blast and very memorable. Had four great friends inour group,three from my old company, and one made durning the trip Ben Westra. There were more veterans on the trip but were in different groups but we were all able to get together at the Elk Longe for dinner and also got together with Vonnie and had a great dinner as well. Thank you Island view for the hospitality and taking care of us on our stay there, the lodge was awesome and the view was beautiful all around. The staff,captain, deck hands were amazing and took great care of all of us. Guch, Todd and Reid,Antonio were Awesome helping us all reeling in and teaching us the ropes on fishing. Thank you guys so much for the great experience!

I truly had no idea about this awesome charity. Freedom Alliance was able to treat myself and a few others to an amazing fishing trip. First time ever being on a yacht and deep sea fishing. The fishing was cut a little short due to weather but I will remember this trip forever. I want to thank Pepper for the awesome pictures, Tunaskin for the free gear, Bill from Squidnation, and also Chris and Jesse for taking us out on BI-OP-SEA. Thank you Freedom Alliance for everything.

After serving in the Marine Corps for 17 years, multiple deployments and being wounded in Afgaistan, I'm retiring this month. I got hooked up with Freedom Alliance and they wanted to show their support to a few service members. I was able to go out sport fishing in the Outer Banks NC for some Mahi Mahi. This trip was a dream come true. Myself and the few other Marines were lucky enough to have the time of our lives. it's was great to be out with such amazing people that truly care. It was a very well needed break from my fight with PTSD, stress, anxiety, and other symptoms I suffer from daily. During this trip with these guys the only problem I had was my face hurting from smiling too much. Thank you again for all your support! FISH ON!
Freedom Alliance and the Cyprus Creek hunting lodge went above and beyond what I expected from this trip. It was a relief to be around other veterans and active duty wounded warriors in a fun and competitive environment. Even if I didn't shoot a pig, win a shooting match or catch a fish, I still had fun and was grateful for the time I spent in the woods relaxing. The staff of lodge and as well as the volunteers that aided the lodge and the group were outstanding. The rifle range and high class marksman that helped us zero our weapons were impressive. The rooms and accommodations were amazing. Danny, the lodge owner, personally took us out on our last hunt. Last but not least, Londa will be a legendary name for all that attended and anyone who ever has the pleasure of enjoying one of her meals that she prepares. I'm dying for some of her desert right now. I would recommend this to other vets I run in to at the VA or around the community.
Freedom alliance was beyond amazing. Our experience with them was not only easy but they became like family. Our children received christmas, that otherwise wouldn't have happened, through amazing donors affiliated with freedom alliance. Through their generosity and the freedom alliances team we met and will remain forever grateful to some amazingly wonderful people. They are just completely caring and wonderful. Freedom Alliance is a true lifesaver. Not only did they treat us with the utmost respect and kindness they made our Christmas possible. As my husband is a Veteran and has some medical issues that effect him on a daily basis our lives have changed. This year has been even harder with him losing his job and having surgery. Christmas wasn't even going to happen but because of all the help from Freedom Alliance and our Amazing sponsor we had the best Christmas in five years. It wasn't only the gifts it was the hope and love that it brought our family, the balance and peace and knowing we aren't alone. I can not express our thanks to everyone who was apart of it.

I am a Soldier that has been going through a rough time in my life dealing with my PTSD and other deployment related issues. I am a single father now of three kids and before Freedom Alliance I didn't know how I would make my kids Christmas different than how it was last year. My kids only received 1 gift a piece last year due to my lack of funds with me recently becoming a single father. I was contacted by several of the employees during Christmas about time about receiving the help this year. I never once imagined the care that people out in the world really cared about Soldiers until now. It has truly been a blessing that Freedom Alliance and the supporter of them are able to help Soldiers like me in need. After 3 deployments of heavy combat I normally have everything under control but now the deployment have taken a major toll on my life. This Christmas was one of the greatest things that has happened to me in my life. It takes a lot for me to shed a tear but this year seeing all the toys and the happiness on my kids face brought me to tears. For the first time I shed tears from joy instead on pain. I want to thank everyone that has helped every Soldier through the program and this is something that I will never forget. God Bless you all

I am the father of two children, an 8yo Daughter and 3yo Son. This year is a hard one for us financially due to my wife's schooling. My wife is currently attending PLU for nursing and the tuition is enormous even with financial aid.
A few months ago I received an email from my Wounded Warriors Advocate about Freedom Alliance and their Presents For Patriots Program. That Email was a saving grace. We applied and were accepted by a sponsor. This means a great deal to me and my wife. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday cause it reminds me of my grandparents and how they always went above and beyond to make a great Christmas, and with the help Freedom Alliance I too can give my kids great memories of the holidays.
On a personal note, As a Veteran I am so glad to see that there are people still out there helping our Soldiers (past and present). With all the negative things happening in and out of our country it is nice to know there are still Good-Doers out there.

While I was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in the Warrior Transition Unit I was put in to go on a trip with Freedom Alliance by my case manager. Freedom Alliance took my wife, 6 months old daughter and myself to Panama City Beach, Florida for what I would consider the best activity I have done with any non profit that helps wounded veterans. On this trip they gave a $1000 to do activities, which is significant because we didn't have a lot to spend on the trip, and then they hired a nanny for one day so me and my wife could go do something by ourselves. They also rented each family that was there a rental car so we had a car to get around in. This organization is such a great organization they go above beyond to help out our service men an women.
Freedom Alliance has helped me amd my family during a time of need. I am pending a medical discharge due to things that happened overseas. The money was tight to say the least and my family had to save to deal with our transition out of the military; as well as pay of debt. Freedom Alliance insured that my kids would not notice the struggle that my family is going through with the presents they are donating for this years Christmas. As a veteran I am so use to helping people and it's hard to ask for help. They insured me not to be ashamed of asking for help and treated me with the utmost respect. I am truly thankful for what they have done for me and would write a thousand more reviews if I could. It's hard for service members to ask for help because we are the ones who do the helping. To be honest it feels awkward for me to ask but they made it easy.
I can't say enough about Freedom Alliance and what it's doing for our veterans returning from war. I recently was given the opportunity to fish the Rouge river in Oregon with a group of vets for a few days. It was an experience I won't soon forget.
The fishing and beautiful scenery aside, being able to get away with like minded men with similar backgrounds and experiences, not having to deal with the "worries of life", and build new friendships that will last a lifetime... I can't put a price tag on that.
So to Freedom Alliance, Col. North, Pepper and everyone who donates their time, resources, land, finances and hearts. Thank you.
I was fortunate enough to attend a pheasant hunt with Freedom Alliance this last weekend. There were 4 veterans of the Iraq/Afghanistan wars invited to come. We all hit it off great from the time we met in the airport. It was like reconnecting with old friends. The trip was amazing and helped heal a lot of wounds. There was a Vietnam veteran there at the ranch named Richard and it was very cool to bond with him. Jim Stewart, Carl, Keith, and Adam made the trip a memorable one and we all got along like family. If I could ever have dreamed up a hunting trip to go on, it would have been exactly like this one. Thanks to Pepper at Freedom Alliance for organizing the trip. To be with my fellow war-fighters during this trip filled a gap I had in my life and I am sure we will continue to be in touch with each other in the future. I came home feeling whole, which is something I haven't felt in a long time. Thanks to all those who made it possible.
I had one of the best times of my life on the fishing trip provided by Freedom Alliance. I am a Viet Nam veteran and until this point no one has shown me the kindness and gratitude for my service. The trip down the Rogue River wonderful, scenery was great and the representative for Freedom Alliance was attentive to our individual needs. Although I am not experienced in fishing the boat captains provided us with excellent instruction on how to fish the river. The mixture of white water made it very exciting and the fishing was great ( I caught 19 fish). The various loges we stayed at were excellent and the food great. Also mixing with the veterans from my era and those from recent wars was a great experience. I enjoyed their comradely and friendships developed during the trip and am keeping in touch with many of them, I will cherish the time spent with them.

Imagine A beautiful white sand beach as a back drop for a vibrant man made forest with bridges leading from the vacation condominiums to the coasts of Pompano Beach, Fl. That is only about 5 minutes from Ft Lauderdale and about 25 from Miami. Our 7 days of relaxation began on July 11 2015 and ended On Saturday July 18 2015. The amenities included a Jacuzzi, swimming pool, full kitchen, dining area, 2 beds with all the luxuries of home. This wonderful vacation was donated to us by one of the wonderful contributors at Freedom Alliance. I am a medically retired Marine. I was on hemodialysis for 3.5 years. recently received a kidney transplant March 12, 2015. The struggles and pain my family went through was unimaginable, but Freedom Alliance kept us anchored. They helped, and guided us every step of the way. They took away a lot of the stress off my wife (who was born and raised in Japan, and now dealing with a sick husband in a new country), as well as my two toddler boys that were only beginning to understand the world around them. This was a much needed vacation from life itself. It reset a lot of tension in our family and showed us what it was like to live again. I was transplanted in March, but in July I learned to enjoy the small things once more. This was an opportunity that we would not have gotten had we have not of known of Freedom Alliance and the wonderful donor who helped bring our family back together through love, experience, and joy. Although it seems like the world and civilizations around us are becoming darker, there are still people with hearts of gold. They are changing lives everyday. Not for recognition, but to just lighten the load of others. I'm sure hen I have the chance I will do the same

As a FA scholarship recipient, Freedom Alliance has been more than just a check in the mail. They have supported me throughout the last four years of college and have provided me with another family. I love this organization and am so thankful for their support.
Words are not enough to express how thankful I am for Freedom Alliance. I am a recipient of the Scholarship Fund and I can tell you that Freedom Alliance goes above and beyond their purpose. They are more than just a check in the mail, they are family. They send care packages and birthday cards that remind us that we're remembered. They put on a retreat weekend which allows me and other recipients to bond over the loss of our fathers and create friendships that last a lifetime. They are one of the greatest nonprofits out there and I hope their name and purpose is made known to others all over the nation.
What else can I say about Freedom Alliance besides Astonishing. They will never let you down when it comes to having a good time :) I partook in a trip to DC with Students like myself and met a family of friendly faces and had unforgettable moments. It's something you'd never want to miss.
My son, who is now a medically retired Marine, was severely injured in Afghanistan, in 2012, when he stepped on an IED. He lost both of his legs and was at Walter Reed Hospital for a year. While we were there, the representative from Freedom Alliance was one of the friendliest faces and was always asking how we were and did we have any needs. Freedom Alliance helped us financially when we needed to make some modifications to our bathroom before our son came home, and they blessed our family tremendously with lovely, thoughtful gifts for 2 Christmases! They continue to keep tabs on my son to make sure all is well, and took him on a hunting trip this spring. This is a wonderful, generous, caring charity that takes the time and makes an effort to find out what wounded warriors and their families REALLY need.
Freedom Alliance recently selected me to participate in a four day fishing excursion in Sitka, Alaska. Due to my diagnose of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), I was skeptical about leaving the security of my home and traveling to an unknown place with unknown individuals. My wife, my caretaker, was mutually nervous about the trip. She was in constant contact with Tina Wholean, whom assured her that all will be okay. The entire trip was beyond my expectations. Upon arrival to the Sitka airport, the local Coast Guard and Sitka's Emergency Services (approximately 100 people) met us inside. They cheered, presented tokens & made us feel very welcomed and honored. I happened to stay & fish at Vonnie's Bed & Breakfast. The accommodations were amazing. The place overlooked the ocean and allowed for you to take in the beauty that God created. The meals were superb & made fresh daily. The boat crews were phenomenal and accommodated to all the warrior's needs. I feel very honored and blessed to have been chosen for this once in a lifetime opportunity. This opportunity greatly helped me talk about my daily struggles with other wounded warriors suffering with similar symptoms. This experience was beyond reproach & the memories gained will always be cherished. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I recently got to enjoy a fishing trip to Alaska with a group of wounded vets thanks to Freedom Alliance, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I am a retired Marine wounded in Afghanistan in 2011 and since that time adjusting to life at home has been a battle in itself. I am more than grateful to Freedom Alliance for bringing a group of vets together to share that comradery that we all miss so much and enjoy a week of fishing in a beautiful part of the country. Freedom Alliance will also be helping me to get a track chair this summer to help me get around my property, which is limited dude to my injuries. This is a wonderful organization that's committed to do whatever they can to help Veterans and they have been a blessing for this vet and his family!

Freedom Alliance is an amazing nonprofit organization that has made a huge impression on my family. They really make you feel that you are a part of a close knit family--because you are!! Pepper and Alicia are wonderful people and so very kind. Every event we have attended has been simply spectacular and we plan to continue attending. Thanks to Freedom Alliance my husband can now hunt in the woods again with his amazing Track chair and that helps him to feel as if nothing is different than before his accident. I had the chance to be invited to the grouper grapple down in Fort Myers Fl this past weekend. It was an amazing time and cannot say thank you enough for the opportunity to join so a fine event full of patriotic people. The way we we're treated was amazing to say the least. The people and hospitality was every where and was offered by everyone especially my good friend Pepper Ailor and Brian Peachey. With those two men logistically putting together the best weekend I have had in a long time. It really lifted my spirits and brought all of us wounded warriors close together. Freedom Alliance is awesome!!! I just got back from a 3 day fishing trip up to Smith Mtn lake, VA. I really needed it and it helped me greatly. I am a 20 year Marine almost ready to retire from WWBn East. Looking forward to doing more events with them and get out of my house. Just completed my 2nd trip with Freedom Alliance and I've got nothing but smiles on my face. This trip is like hitting a reset button on my life, allows me to clear out the past and have a fresh start at a new day. At the begening of the trip, you don't know anyone, but minutes into it you meet everyone and by the end of the trip you are hugging each other like you've known them your entire life. Freedom alliance has helped my husband open up about so many things he had just shut down about. They recently invited him on an awesome hunting trip at Cypress Creek Lodge in SC. (This was his first ever hunting trip) He came home in such a good mood, was so incredibly happy and kept talking about how much fun he had! (Got his first deer!) Think he found a new hobby that makes him happy other than just fishing! We are so thankful not only for this but for everything freedom alliance, and everyone involved, does for the veterans. Hey everyone. I just wanted to take a minute and share my personal experience with Freedom Alliance last month, April 2015.
I was a "short-notice" add on to the trip to Costa Rica. And by short notice...I had about a 1 week notice. Not a big deal. Pepper was so...on the ball with everything, that all I saw were smoothe waters. If he jumped through hoops, and I know he did, I had no clue. He was amazing.
Then we all get to Costa Rica and I'm just mind blown. The resort, Los Sueños, was gorgeous. Our rooms were amazing!! The food...5 stars! Every commodity was top notch.
Now came the people behind the scenes, whether it was the donors, coordinators, boat Captains and crews...or the people that kept Los Sueños beautiful...everyone was kind. It was as if we'd known each other and been friends for years.
We were taken on crocodile and canopy tours. Were thrown pool parties. There were golf clinics put on, just for us, by a golf pro. And then there was the fishing. AWESOME!! The boats, the captains, the crews, and the fishing itself...just priceless. I was fortunate to be on the Rebel!! Big shout out to them and their crew!!

I have been fortunate enough to know the Freedom Alliance team for several years since first being injured in Afghanistan and being treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. They have been the most involved veterans group I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They have taken me places I never thought I would go, introduced me to people I never thought I would meet, and helped me experience things I would of never done on my own. And they not only care about wounded warriors, but also the children of service men and women that never came home. They team up with other smaller nonprofits to help causes they support. They are the gold standard that all nonprofits should hope to attain. The FA team is great and know each of their recipients by name and know each of them personally, what they struggle with, what their injuries are, and how they are coping. They also provide the opportunity to meet some of the awesome donors that support their cause. I have yet to be at a FA event that every single person did not enjoy, where everyone involved did not feel like they were a part of something great. In my opinion, five stars is not a nearly high enough rating, but it’s the highest I can put, and words cannot express just how great the Freedom Alliance team has been to me and my family. If you are looking for an amazing way to support this cause, there simply isn’t a better option than Freedom Alliance.

I am a 100% combat disabled US Marine Corps veteran. A number of years ago, when my daughter was preparing for college, she happened upon Freedom Alliance. At the time I knew nothing about this organization. She informed me that Freedom Alliance was a nonprofit organization that awards scholarships to children of both deceased and permanently disabled vets. She wrote a brief essay telling about herself, my military background and the challenges we both faced as a result. A few days later she received a phone call informing her that she got the scholarship! We were blown away...
The story doesn't end here, it's actually just the preface. Freedom Alliance welcomed my entire family into their fold. We have been invited to outings and family vacations. It has been wonderful for all of us, but for me it has been a life changer! I was in a very bad place when Freedom Alliance took us in. I was suffering from severe PTSD- I was depressed and isolated from my friends and family. I was hell bent on a path of self destruction. Freedom Alliance not only took me in, they treated me with dignity and respect. I was invited to attend several outings with veterans who were in the same boat that I was in. During these outings we had a very rare chance to bond and discuss our common experiences. For many of us it was the first time we spoke about it since we left the combat zone. At the end the outing, we all took with us new friendships and the knowledge that we are not alone.
Fast forward a couple chapters.... today I have two daughters that are Doctors and a son who is still in school working on his degree. I have turned my life around and have become what I hope is now an asset to my community. My role with Freedom Alliance has evolved to the point where I can now help mentor younger veterans. I am currently trying to "pay forward" some of the generosity that was extended to me in my time of need. Dramatic as it sounds, this organization saved my life.
Aside from being VERY good at what they do, the entire staff of Freedom Alliance truly cares deeply for the veterans they serve.

I am a 100% disabled US Marine. Not a title that I'm proud of- it's something no one ever aspires to be. As a result of my service, I've had many physical and emotional road blocks. Freedom Alliance has helped my family and I work through these issues. The financial assistance was wonderful, but what really stood out was the emotional warmth, caring, and support they have given us. I can't say enough about the staff of Freedom Alliance- Ive never met a group of more genuine individuals. I've laughed and cried with this group who I now think of as family. Freedom Alliance recently took 15+ Veterans on an all paid trip to Costa Rica. We stayed in incredible Condos, were waited on hand and foot and were overwhelmed (In a good way) by the outpouring of support from the Local residents. Went Sailfishing, Ziplining through the jungle and enough food to make you gain 10 pounds. We were taken care of from before we left for the trip until after. I cannot say enough great things about Freedom Alliance. They are the real deal my friends!
The trip to Costa Rica was a once in a life time experience. I've never felt more welcome and comfortable Freedom Alliance made this happen for me and truly are some of my best friends. Thank You from the bottom of my heart for showing such support to all of us as combat vets.
Freedom Alliance isn't just a great organization, but a family. I began receiving a scholarship to help pay for college from the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund in the Fall of 2008, and not only did their assistance allow me to graduate debt free but their love and compassion for the scholarship students has no bounds. Their generosity with birthday cards, the scholarship retreat, and countless other opportunities to meet and connect with other scholarship students and FA staff foster a community like nothing I've ever experienced. Freedom Alliance knows how to serve those who have served and their families. Without their support I'm not sure where I'd be in my grief process. Words truly can not express how thankful I am for their friendship.

I'm a soldier in a Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Carson, CO. Back at the end of summer, I filled out a sheet asking for info about myself and kids. Honestly, I was in a bad place during that time (divorce, two surgeries, etc). Well, fast forward to December. I was darn near penniless from my divorce. I had to sell a treadmill to get money for presents for my three children. Then, for nearly a week, packages began to arrive. Upon seeing what was inside, I thought back to the sheet of paper I filled out, listing what toys my children liked. Needless to say, I was brought to tears by the overwhelming thoughtfulness and spirit of giving of the Freedom Alliance organization on more than one occasion. I cling to faith in humanity and the power of good. Freedom Alliance helped serve as a reminder of my belief. This past holiday season marked the turning point of the worst two years in my life. Freedom Alliance absolutely had a strong impact on that turning point, as I was able to give my children a wonderful Christmas. Thank you so much, and I know you'll continue to touch the hearts of many people.

Freedom alliance is an organization that I have done several events with now and every time I am so impressed with the amenities of the trips and overall direction and service. Everyone you meet is courteous and friendly and with you the entire trip.
Most think of a fishing trip and think "oh it's just fishing." For me, it is therapy for my soul. What the army spends trying to address and understand PTSD is wasted on me. A single day out in Mother Nature can reset you back into an amazing place in life. I encourage all of my veteran brothers and sisters to go on these trips because of how helpful they are.

Freedom Alliance definately helped me out with my combat stress. I was able to relax and hang out with fellow brothers of mine who were able to share similar storries with me and not have to worry about a single thing while on a fishing trip down in Fort Meyers Beach, FL. The people who run Freedom Alliance, and set everything up, and do all the behind the scenes work, make sure everything is taken care of for us combat wounded veterans and active duty military. I had such a great time. It felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. No stress at all. Everyone was very helpfull, and kind, and polite. I would definatley recommend Freedom Alliance as one of the best if not the best organizations for combat wounded vets just because they tend to deal with you on more personal level and they are more proactive with the military. Thank you Freedom Alliance for allowing me to enjoy myself and have a good time and have fun with my brothers.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to take part in a couple of hunting and fishing events put on by Freedom Alliance. I say blessed because both of these activities have been a big part of my renewal as a person after leaving active duty service. FA has given me the opportunity to heal and to grow as a person in another way- through community with other veterans who have had experiences similar to mine. Because of FA's tireless efforts (Pepper) I have found some peace and an renewed sense of faith in the American populace by meeting the true patriots and loving folks who host these events. I am so proud to be a part of this organization and look forward to every opportunity they present.

Just when things appeared to be so dark in my life, PTSD issues had caused me to lose my career and my life savings, Freedom Alliance came into my life to fulfill a childhood dream. My dream had always been to horseback ride deep into the Rockies, catching trophy trout and fully experiencing God's beautiful creation.
All of these things occurred. What I didn't plan on was the wonderful companionship from my fellow servicemembers. This was something that I desperately needed. There are things that occur while serving that civilians just don't understand.
Shawn Farnsworth was an outstanding guide and my new friend, helping me to catch a 12", 14", 16", and 18" Brook trout. Those are monster fish. I have never even seen or heard of 16" and 18" Brook trout before. God had richly blessed us.
Pepper Ailor did an absolutely fantastic job bringing this all together, being a true friend, and taking stunning photographs to remind us of this trip for the rest of our lives. He is such a good man who cares for this nation and our veterans. I really enjoyed his presence around the campfire. He also cleans a mean dish. LOL.
Bruce of Adams Lodge Outfitters and his guides were amazing, down to earth people. They showed us kindness at every turn, most especially by donating this trip for us. Their helpfulness and happiness confirmed in my heart that I should fulfill my childhood dream and become a guide myself. I will be attending a guide school in Maine in the Spring. Life is good, and the kind people at Freedom Alliance has given me hope and a new dream for the future.

We had the pleasure of coming in contact with Freedom Alliance in December of 2012 when they contacted WWBN-E to help some families with Christmas, Pepper and his wife came to our home and totally went over the top. Our daughter still remembers Pepper and his wife; till this day she will grab her favorite blanket and remind us "Pepper gave me this blanket!"
My husband has had a couple trips with Freedom Alliance and every time he's came home all he could talk about is what great people he was with and what a great time he had. This past weekend we had the pleasure of attending the couples retreat at David and Rita Scott's place. I have never walked into anyone's home and felt right at home the way they made us feel! We had a blast and was able to get to know other couples that are/have been in the same situations we have faced. We can not express our gratitude enough to these amazing people, who we know feel are like family. To Freedom Alliance, David and Rita, Pepper, and everyone else involved we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the most wonderful, relaxing, stress-free weekend we've ever had.
My name is Dan Burgess and I was invited to be part of the 2nd Grouper Grapple this passed weekend in Fort Myers, FL. I was with seven other warriors and had one of the most life changing events in a long time. Freedom Alliance places wounded warriors together and friendships are made almost instantly and ones that will last a life time. They also take the pressure off of you for a couple of days and puts you in a peace of mind as you talk with your other brothers and learn from each other. Freedom Alliance has been the best piece of my life along with my family to help me recover from army injuries both physically and mentally. my name is John Bentley I'm a 25 Year old USMC Ret. wounded Warrior and I just went to the 2nd annual Grouper Grapple with Freedom Alliance, it was a life changing event, usually after my accident in Afghanistan i would keep to my self and stay at home most of the time but this organization got me back with my brothers for a real life event that was awesome. All we did was talk to each other and fish all day and meet some of the best people around that all they want to do is help out wounded veterans. Freedom Alliance is by far one of the best organizations i have dealt with. and they let me know about other events coming up that i would have never known about before. thank you Pepper for a amazing trip.
I had the most wonderful time on the trip. Appsolutly no pressure for me and just a time for me to sit back and relax. Pepper was great at contacting me and keeping me informed on what was going on. I hope I'm able to go on another wonderful trip again with them. Thank you for the awesome time I had.
People often ask me to explain the purpose of Freedom Alliance. And my reply is that they help the veterans and servicemembers recover spiritually and mentally from the injury. Our family has been helped by this organization since 2010 when my husband was medevac from Iraq and then moved to Walter Reed after collapsing from injuries received in theater. He was crushed when a building collapsed on him and three other servicemen. There are resources that help deal with the day to day survival of life after injury. I.E. paying the bills, making sure the family has a working vehicle…which I call the critical basic necessities. But then what happens to the veteran and their family? They survive and their whole world is turned upside down. They (and I do mean they the servicemember and their spouse/older kids) become depressed, feel isolated and the lifelong coping begins. Friends and family that used to be able to understand deployment issues or military life , can’t begin to understand where they are coming from life after injury (though if we are lucky there are a few that try really hard to understand and listen and stick around). Freedom Alliance steps in and tries to give back some of the life they lost when they were injured. Having a smiling face visiting you at Walter Reed, going fishing, hunting, on a vacation, out to dinner…all sound insignificant until you realize that these small moments are the only time these veterans and their families get a sense of being human or a sense of belonging and the internal healing can begin. Along with the support of our community, family and friends we have started healing. But that kick start to create new happy memories was given to us by Freedom Alliance with a fishing trip down the Rogue river for my husband a few years back. Fast forward a year or two and we have a 1 ½ year old little girl, my husband has finally been medically retired from the military, we are driving 60-75 minutes one way 3-4 times a week for VA appointments, my mother passes away after a long struggle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and we need to move out of yet another rental (because they are selling the house). Having to move so often (especially now with my husband being disabled) is beyond stressful. We know that we need to buy a house and move somewhere closer to a VA hospital to continue his treatment. But now we are on a fixed income and I have quit my job to be his caregiver. Life was a struggle once again. We mentioned our latest problem when we touched base with one of the outreach people at Freedom Alliance and he mentioned to apply for their Heroes to Homeowners program they coordinate with US Bank. Fast forward a little less than a year later and we have relocated to Tucson, Arizona, living in a mortgage free home graciously donated through US bank, Freedom Alliance and Five Brothers. We have a solid foundation for the first time ever. Ever!!! We are 15 minutes from the VA hospital and we now have time to focus on building new spiritual relationships and helping other veterans. Our spiritual and mental healing for our family has truly begun. Thank you Freedom Alliance and all your donors!!!!

Freedom Alliance made the difference in the well being of our family when my husband was medivaced from theater. In the two years, 5 surgeries, loss of our family home, and the harrowing Medical retirement process they have provided help with day to day necessities, a well needed fishing trip that helped restore a chunk of my husbands spirit and the knowledge that there are people who care about the soldiers that have fought for our country.So often it is not feasible to add things like a retreat, a nice dinner or a splurge purchase that makes you feel life is a little more bearable. It's these things so many people take for granted that when you are strapped by your budget because of medical procedures, work taken off to be a caretaker, and all the other myriad costs (extra gas, a hotel room, meals outside of the home) that doesn't get done. Freedom Alliance stepped in and bridged a gap that made a huge life transistion that much smoother. They will always have our support!!!
This charity to me helps you bond with other veterans who have experienced some of the same things you suffer with. It gives you a chance to be you and not have to put on a front in front of civilians. You are able to talk to one another without being judged. Without this organization I don't know where I'd be. I love pepper he has helped me be myself and most of all in times of need given me his ear when needed the most.
Freedom Alliance is a FANTASTIC organization that truly goes above and beyond! What they have done for my daughter and I is amazing. The staff that they have is among the best of any I have dealt with, they make your experience and conversations with them truly enjoyable!
I am extremely grateful to the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund and its generous supporters, and appreciate this opportunity that is deeply rooted in the military. I am thankful that because of this scholarship, I can attend the college of my choice, Dickinson College, and that my two younger brothers can also attend a four-year college of their choosing.
Though I have received a few other scholarships from other helpful organizations, the one I received from Freedom Alliance has significantly stood out. The staff and supporters do everything they can to make it a personal experience. For example, not only have I received a scholarship, I have gotten birthday cards signed by everyone, and even a care package for finals week while I was at school. I was also invited to and participated in a retreat in Arlington that allowed me to meet a group of other students like myself who have experienced the same loss. The visit being the weekend before father’s day, was an important reminder that we are not alone.
Their hearts are in the right place, and it clearly shows by how much they help and genuinely care for each and every student. It is especially important to me because the reason behind giving the scholarship is to honor my father. Through it, I know that my father’s sacrifice is not forgotten, and there are gracious individuals across the country who also respect and remember him through supporting me by their donations. Freedom Alliance has especially helped me because though my dad was a Marine, the circumstances surrounding his death were a rare case which meant I was denied many forms of government benefits such as the G.I. Bill or David Fry Scholarship. To Freedom Alliance, I am not just another scholarship recipient or statistic, but the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Robert Zangas. They make me proud to receive this scholarship because of the way it honors my dad.
I have twice had the opportunity to participate in Freedom Alliance events. The first, on short notice, was a duck hunting trip in early 2014 near Enfield, North Carolina. The event was hosted by a local hunt club, and the participants were mostly combat wounded Marines. With the presence of Pepper Ailor from Freedom Alliance, the event was excellent - beyond what I had originally anticipated. I was then invited to attend the annual fishing trip to Los Suenos, Costa Rica. I met wounded Marines and Army EOD experts who were apprehensive at first as we loaded a flight out of Charlotte, NC. As soon as we arrived at Los Suenos, we were welcomed with open arms by all of the great American patriots who invited us into their condos and onto their fishing yachts for two days of unbelievable fun and fellowship on the yachts catching sailfish. We also went zip-lining and took in a crocodile tour. Everyone had an absolute blast and many of us have become Facebook friends and continue to share our experiences. A special thanks goes out to Pepper Ailor, Gerald and Virginia Lindholm, Rita Scott, and everyone involved with Freedom Alliance – and of course Lt. Col. Oliver North. I wasn't expecting to have as much fun as I did. The house that we were in was excellent. The folks of Smith Mountain Lake Striper Club ensured we had a great time and made sure we had lots of fish and helped us to maximize our filets off of the fish. I hope to be able to gin on more of there trips.
I am a medically retired Army EOD tech that went on the 2014 Costa Rica trip which was graciously donated by Freedom Alliance, US and Costa Rican residents, and businesses. I didn't know what exactly to expect, but it is an understatement to say that my expectations were blown away and that I had an amazing time.
First, the generosity of our hosts was simply amazing and greatly appreciated. Enough can't be said about all of them. It was also a blast to be with them, from the pool parties to fishing with them. Their time, dedication, and company did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. It really reminded all of us that people do indeed care, not just about the United States and its service-members in general, but you as an individual.
Second, Freedom Alliance really did well, extremely well, on making a trip like this happen. The people who work with and for FA are outstanding and hardworking individuals that makes it look effortless to us, who receive the benefits of all their hard work. ( *cough cough* Pepper *cough*)
Third, the sum benefit. Beyond the activities that we all enjoyed: such as fishing (which I enjoyed much more than I thought I would), pool parties, and golf; was that the fellow service-members we met during that week. There was such an interesting mix of individuals, but it was great to meet them all. It was great to relax with a few other EOD techs, Marines, and even a few SF guys. It's hard to explain why aspect is important, but Freedom Alliance and their partners gets it.
I don't have enough thanks to give that could ever express how grateful I am, or the great time I had.
This is definitely a trip that I will be telling stories about for an extremely long time.

The opportunity Freedom Alliance provided me is very appreciated. I was injured by an IED in Iraq in 2004, I deployed multiple times after that to Afghanistan and Iraq, because of those deployments my injuries grew worse. I suffer from severe neck and back problems. The trip I went on through Freedom Alliance showed me that I can still do stuff, we did stuff that I would not have even thought of doing (we did a zipline and went fishing for sail fish in the ocean). I would never thought I would do something like that, it was truly amazing. Also the sharing of experiences with other veterans with injuries, and how they are dealing with them and what they are doing was also very helpful. It was definitely a life changing experience, and definitely for the better!
Freedom Alliance has been helpng the Navy for years. Thye always give Sailors an opportunity to enjoy the surrounding area of Chicago's finest diners. In addition, they have made donations to worthy causes affiliated with the Navy as well...THANK YOU !!
Freedom Alliance provides me and my fellow Wounded Warrior Caregivers a chance to relax and build our network of support. Freedom Alliance allows us to get together in a non-hospital setting and be ourselves, not "Sgt. Whoever's spouse."
The folks at Freedom Alliance came to Fort Riley and were very professional and gracious in their support of wounded warriors. Alicia went out of her way to include everyone and even opened a slot or two up for extra warriors at a dinner she hosted. We all had a wonderful time away and for a moment the cares and concerns were washed away with laughter and good food. Thank you again for all you do and have done!

Freedom Alliance has helped me and my family in so many ways from having a spouse night to working out with Fit Club to my husband having a guys night with the guys. In July we were chosen to go on a vacation to Disneyland, this was the first vacation my family has been on. It was so stress free,fun and absolutely great that we forgot how it felt to be that relaxed. Jennifer Ohman is awesome! She will work with you and will do whatever she can to get your needs met.
I met Pepper three years ago and it has been a great experience meeting people that truly care about helping veterans.
Freedom Alliance has helped our family greatly. They have helped my husband (a wounded warrior) by sending him and other wounded warriors for a guys night out. It really helps him relax and he is able to talk to the other wounded warriors about things that he may not feel comfortable talking to me. They have also helped spouses/caregivers by having a girls night out, about once a month, which serves the same purpose as the guys night out. Also they host a Fit Club for spouses/caregivers which is another way for us to release some stress, get healthy and just feel better overall. They also host family/couple retreats to help bring families/couples closer together. All of these programs are at no cost to the wounded warriors, spouse/caregivers and their families.
The wives of the wounded warriors have been encouraged to take care of thier health as they are being caretakers for thier wounded spouses.
Jennifer Ohman has been the inspriation for these women and has sparked an interest in physical activity.
By using the Fitness Center and its programs at Naval Medical Center, the women have grown and developed a support system among the group.
Freedom Alliance has provided exceptional support for our Sailors and Marines and their families. Our Sailors and Marines have benifited from holliday assistance for those in need and multiple Military Appreation events. Each servicemember I have spoken with gives Freedom Alliance and their caring staff the most positive feedback with always a heartfelt "thank You". Your support of our military is comendable.
Freedom Alliances has sponsored many trips and events that my service-member has participated in. In 2010 he was critically injured by an IED in Afghanistan. David and Rita Scott hosted soldiers in their homes and provided many opportunities to enjoy the lake. We were able to ride on their boat, jet ski, go tubing and much more! Freedom Alliance Scholarship assistance for my son because his Father is a 100%disabled Veteran from disabilities caused by exposure to Agent Orange, enabled by son to receive an excellent college education, which allowed him to pursue his dream of attending medical school. He is now a third year medical student, which never would have happened without the financial & emotional support from Freedom Alliance. They never forget the heroes when everyone else does.

My husband is a 100% disabled Veteran. Our son received college scholarships thru Freedom Alliance that allowed him to attend a great college with a great Science and Research Program, that best helped him reach his goal of acceptance to Medical School which is an extremely competative challenge. Our son is now a second year Medical School student, he wold not have been able to attend the college of his choice without Freedom Alliance help, he would have had to work more hours to pay and this may not have helped his academic success. ALso, Freedom Alliance help me & my husband know during many tough health struggles that not everyone has forgotten our disabled Veterans, we felt someone out there cared about us. The work they do for our disabled heroes is tremendous, they do not receive a lot of publicity, but Freedom Alliance is out there improving lives of our warriors and their families. Freedom Alliance staff makes you feel like family. Thank you to Freedom Alliance and their donors.
There is so much we can say about Freedom Alliance and what they do, but to some it up they have changed our lives forever! We just received the first home through Freedom Alliance and their Heroes to Homeowners program and WOW! They went above and beyond to make our dream come true of one day having a home for our family. We are now proud homeowners of a home in Ventura, California!! We will forever be grateful to all who made this possible, and we will be there whenever they or another family need something from us!!!
My trip to Costa Rica came at a time when I had just gone through one of my darkest valley's in my life. Just four months prior to the trip I experienced a heart attack and had to undergo a double by-pass open heart surgery. As a matter of fact I had to get the OK from my doctor just to go on the trip. This trip was the finial step to my recovery after the surgery.
Freedom Alliance rolled out the red carpet for all seventeen of us and held nothing back. We were treated like Kings during our time in Costa Rica. Our accommodations were more that I could have ever expected. This was a dream vacation come true. The food was delicious and the view was stunning. Freedom Alliance even provided us with golf carts to get around on during our stay at Los Suenos Resort.
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe I could go on a deep sea fishing trip. We had a fleet of beautiful fishing boats and crew to give us the fishing trip of a life time and that it was. I caught three sail fish and two Mahi Mahi fish. Gerald & Virginia (they live at Los Suenos) had a lot to do with setting everything up for us concerning the trip. They are genuine supporters of our great nation and for those who have fought to keep it the great nation that we have. We could all feel their love and support for each and every one of us on the trip.
Calvin and Pepper, what can I say besides AWESOME! Freedom Alliance has an advantage on everything they set their minds to, by just having these two men on their pay roll. Very professional but also very real and caring people who look at their jobs are way more than just a pay check but that they are also helping people too. We need more people like this in our world today.

My trip with freedom alliance was by far one of the best weeks of my life. The memories and new friends I made will last a lifetime. I am so glad to have been select to go on the Costa Rico. I was an amazing trip and far exceeded my expectations. The family that I stayed were awesome and made me feel like a king. And the fellowship with other veterans was great as well. I had never been deep sea fishing before and I learned allot. Freedom Alliance has been a life saver to me personally. They blessed me with the opportunity to share time in the great outdoors with fellow warriors who can always put things back in perspective. I recently was part of a Costa Rica trip that allowed me mark off a lot on my bucket list. The trip also allowed me to meet people that I will remeber the rest of my life, true people who showed all the warriors kindness and respect that only comes from people who truly care. Freedom Alliance has personaly, Peppper, helped me through great persoal tragedy and as I said up top " a life saver". I am just an old tired Marine who wishes he could wright better because they sure rate more than I could ever say. I also caught four sword fish, which has been a long time dream, Freedom Alliance Rocks.

Freedom Alliance has truly changed my life. Not only have they given me the opportunity to attend college, but they have invited me to numerous retreats where I have been able to meet other students who have also lost a parent. I have made amazing lifetime long friends who give me advice, insight, and strength to keep a positive attitude during hard times. The staff of Freedom Alliance has kept in touch with me ever since my first year of school and takes the time to know each and everyone of us personally. No words can explain how incredibly touching it is to know I have another "family" to reach out to. My father's biggest dream was that all his children at least receive a bachelors degree and Freedom Alliance has helped me to make his dream come true. Freedom Alliance invited myself and a few other Marines from the Wounded Warrior Battalion to go fishing for a week in Smith Mountain Lake, Va. The fishing was great along with all of the other outdoor activities that we participated in. They kept us busy and well fed! Our hosts made us feel welcome and by the end of the week were our friends. Good times and long ashes. This was a great opportunity to get away, get back to nature and meet some great people who are part of a this awesome Organization.
Freedom Alliance has been a wonderful organization to our family! We met them when my husband was part of Wounded Warriors and they gave our family of 5 an all expense paid vacation to Panama City Beach Florida. My husband was able to go on the fishing trip of his dreams! Their staff took time to get to know all of our family personally. They still stay in touch nearly 3 years later and make an effort to see us when they're in town. This is the part that matters so much to us. Freedom Alliance builds relationships! Any donations made go to the clients served in many different ways. If you want an organization that gives to American people, and those who have served our country; then Freedom Alliance should be your choice! I am a Wounded Warrior who was wounded in Iraq. Since I was injured, Freedom Alliance has helped me readjust back home. Through their outdoor programs, I have made serious improvements physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I have been able to reconnect with other service members who share my problems. The staff at Freedom Alliance are incredible and care about each one of us. They don't just forget you, but stay in touch with you and follow your progress and offer any help you need along the way.

I was medically retired in July 2008 after 17 years in the military and since then I have participated in a number of disabled veterans groups but by far Freedom Alliance has made the greatest impact in not only my life but my family's lives as well. I was passed over by the Wounded Warrior Project more times than I care to count and there is nothing more hurtful than being ignored by an organization that is supposed to be there to help you. I came into contat with Pepper Ailor from Freedom Alliance earlier this year on a turkey hunt and because of that chance meeting I've experienced life-changing moments in my life and I also gained a lifelong friend in Pepper. I've never met a man more dedicated to helping other disabled veterans than Pepper. He sacrifices his own time to attend to others. He never judged me or treated me differently, but what he did was genuinely care about me. Pepper also helped me get a grant through Freedom Alliance for my power wheelchair lift for my truck as my insurance left me with a sizable deductible. Freedom Alliance, to me, is the most caring disabled veterans organization and with their smaller events I not only get more individual attention it also helps me deal with my social issues instead of being overwhelmed and withdraw as a result. I've learned that Freedom Alliance isn't about giving gifts and "dazzling" people with expensive things...they are about the people which is vitally important to actually change lives. They have changed my life for the better and for that I'm very thankful for finding them and meeting Pepper.
FREEDOM ALLIANCE HAS SHOWN GREAT CARE AND CONCERN FOR OUR WOUNDED WARRIORS BY MAKING THEM FEEL APPRECIATED. Freedom Alliance has been the most amazing help in boosting my husband's morale and helping our wounded warriors getaway from the hospital visits and every day struggles of dealing with their injuries. We find ourselves in awe of their generousity and how quickly they step up to help in a trying situation every time they are called upon to help! There is not enough gratitude in this world to thank them fully for the amazing oppertunities that they have opened up for both my wounded warrior and our entire family. The Freedom Alliance is one of the very best organizations out there to help military families and grant wishes for the men and women who defend our freedom.
My husband is a wounded warrior who has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. At 24, he has had more surgeries and doctor visits than many people will in the course of their lifetime. Freedom Alliance sent my husband and myself on the trip of a lifetime that we never could have afforded on our active duty military income.everyone from the organization and those who sponsered the event were amazing and everything about the experience was perfectly coordinated and lovely. We had our daughter several weeks premature only one month later, and we felt so honored to have been given the gift of this trip before the stress that comes with having a premature infant. One day, my husband and I will tell Cora about this trip, and the story of the good times will be passed down.
A few months after our trip, an aquaintance of mine lost her fiancee who was badly injured in Afghanistan. He was flown back to the states before he passed away, and his family was struggling to come up with the funds for a flight to be with him. My first thought in helping them was to give them the information for the Freedom Alliance, which can and absolutely does help out in situations like the one that they were in...
This is a wonderful organization and we have made lifelong friends and the best of memories being honored by everyone involved. Before people jump straight into the pluses and minuses of money allocation, stop to think about the other side of it all. The Freedom Alliance is out there with their sleeves rolled up working to help the families of the poeple who give their time, health, and sometimes their lives for our freedom. Freedom Alliance is an outstanding organization! Sometimes it's hard to keep up on all the volunteer work that they do, but once I'm updated I'm usually left speechless. They work so hard to be there for everyone who has served and even those victims of Hurricane Sandy this past weekend. Their continuous efforts for others is mind blowing. What really pulled me into Freedom Alliance was their persistence to always find a better way to help. I can't think of a better non profit organization to associate myself with.

I can not express how much freedom alliance means to me. My dad was serving in Iraq in 05 when he lost his life. This organization is not only providing me funds for college but they are also helping me heal. I couldn't even talk about my dad until freedom alliance took me under their wing. They have such a respect for the fallen and the wounded that it inspired me speak up and tell the story about my dad. They flew me to Pittsburgh to speak at a concert, dc, and nyc. I couldn't believe how easy it was to tell strangers about my dad. This organization is unbelievably supportive and the people are so generous. Thank you freedom alliance for the support you have given to wounded veterans and myself. Thank you Pepper for planning this trip, you did a phenomenal job! I suffer from ptsd associated with a pesonslity disorder. I am so tired of being on edge, worried, stressed out, and full of anxiety. Not only has PTSD affected me metally, it has affected me physically as well. It has affected my life to the point where my family doesn't even know who I am anymore. It really does suck to feel like you will never get better or achieve the goal of being labled "normal" again. I was fortunate to be apart of the Rogue River fishing trip in Oregon, where I met some of the coolest, down to earth heroes out there. This trip has made a huge difference in my life; for once in 2 years I felt peace. The atmosphere was great, I had only known these guys for minutes, and yet they felt like family. My Father John Couch was killed in the Army when I was in the 3rd grade. The Freedom Alliance and the great Americans who support it have changed my life. I am now about to graduate a 5 year intense work study Finance program from the University of Cincinnati. Without the love and support of the Freedom Alliance I would have never had the opportunity to afford a college education and to become an alumni of UC just like my father was. My Father would be so grateful to know that American Patriots sacrificed money and time for me to go to college, just as he and his friends sacrificed life and limb for us. Just a note of thanks. Freedom Alliance did another amazing thing in assisting in helping my Son and our family. My Son was Wounded by an IED in Afghanistan last November 2011. The loss of limb and trauma that was caused by that incident was overwhelming to say the least. There are different points in the course of recovery that play major roles as to how things will go. Being around other Wounded Marines and their families in activities that bring a new normalcy to us is so helpful.. Freedom Alliance, Pepper and of course Lt. Colonel North have done so much to lift my Sons spirits and help us move forward. This past trip to Oregon fishing on the Rogue River with other Veterans proved to be very healing. On numerous occasions Jen Ohman has taken the lead and coordinated for Freedom alliance numerous events that have greatly improved the quality of life of our Submarine crews and staff. I am a retired Marine who has been privileged to put Freedom Alliance in touch with several active duty Marine Corps units who have young Marines, many with families, who are continually deployed. They have, at no cost to the Marines, provided dinners at places like Ruth Chris Steakhouse for the Marines and their spouses. In fact, they filled the restaurant will nothing but Marines and their families so they could enjoy a nice meal (that they normally could not afford) as a way of saying thanks. Additionally, they have sponsored concerts, surfing lessons, and other events that serve no other purpose than to say thank you to our Marines and Sailors who serve our country.
I am a volunteer with my husbands USMC Battalion. This Non profit provided us with support on multiple occasions.
Freedom Alliance coordinated donations to purchase items for adaptive physical fitness to improve the fitness and quality of life for the Warriors in Transition at Fort Bliss, Texas. Equipment includes TRX systems, exercise videos, and bicycles and equipment for a full team to ride at once and prepare for the Ride to Recovery events around the country. They also treated our entire battalion to dinner, hayrides, and additional entertainment at a large ranch resort every year. Alicia does a fabulous job!
I am a U. S. Marine stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan who received several care packages from the Social Justice non-profit organization. Many U.S. service members stationed throughout this country are in need of basic hygiene items along with comfort items that make a deployement much easier. Social Justice has sent thousand of packages with these items and the contribution they make to us has made a huge impact on overal mission success.
Freedom Alliance is an awesome organization. Their dedication to supporting ill, injured, and wounded Warriors and their Families here at Fort Riley, KS is unmatched.
My husband’s a soldier with the 1-174th AD Battalion and they are deployed to Iraq. I am the Family Readiness Group Leader for HHB and our Radar teams. Freedom Alliance has helped us to send care packages to each of our 300 soldiers and the 100 sailors attached to our Battalion. We shipped 475 packages after our first packing party and we shipped 450 packages our second packing party. Freedom Alliance paid for all our shipping for the packages shipped to our soldiers from these two events and they are preparing to pay for a third shipment of items to our soldiers. They are an amazing group who help us support our soldiers as they completed their mission. They are an amazing organization!
Freedom Alliance is one of the best organizations I've ever worked with. From being a part of troop appreciation dinners & benefit concert tours to observing office time & policy writing this team literally breaths supporting the military in every way possible. They are great people with hearts that are bigger than most and wounded vets, active military and military families certainly have the greatest of advocates in Freedom Alliance.
Our Brownie Troop in Knoxville TN voted to send "Gift of Caring" Girl Scout cookies to USN Seabee service members deployed to Afghanistan. We partnered with Freedom Alliance to accomplish this mission. By asking customers to purchase and donate "Gift of Caring" cookies, we collected 170+ boxes of Girl Scout cookies for USN Seabee men and women. Freedom Alliance assisted us by funding and preparing pre-paid, pre-addressed postage labels and customs forms for USPS flat rate, military APO/FPO boxes. Our partnership with Freedom Alliance allowed the Brownie members to focus on selling as many "Gift of Caring" boxes for the troops as they could. (Girl Scout rules prohibit soliciting funds for postage for "Gift of Caring" boxes; only cookies can be purchased and donated.) Interaction with staff on a national and regional level was efficient and professional. Throughout the entire process -- from my initial inquiry to the mailing of the cookies -- I was warmly received, a willingness to help was ever present, and ideas were exchanged in an environment of teamwork. I would also like to extend a compliment to Alicia B., for her excellent service and skill sets. Our Brownie Troop (now Junior Girl Scouts) would parnter with Freedom Alliance again on projects such as this one or possibly others of a different nature in the future. My experience with this organization and its staff was extremely positive.
I interned two summers in a row at Freedom Alliance and enjoyed my experience there immensely. The staff are all amazing, and the work they do even more incredible. Participating in the FA events, specifically the Sean Hannity Freedom Concerts and a troop appreciation weekend in New York City, was both inspiring and touching. Working for Freedom Alliance and talking with scholarship and grant recipients gave me an opportunity to experience first-hand the appreciation and gratitude felt by these heroes and their families thanks to Freedom Alliance.
I can't speak highly enough of Freedom Alliance. Alicia Behm has been wonderful every time we've approached her. She and Alliance has gone above and beyond every time, and I can only hope that we have a lasting relationship for many years to come.
My experience with obtaining assistance from Freedom Alliance in support of a Wounded Warrior was professional, courteous, and expediant. I am a Soldier/Family Advocate for Wounded Warriors and made a request on behalf of a Wounded Warrior assigned to the Ft. Eustis Warrior in Transition Unit. the Soldier was recently diagnosed with a serious illness and requested financial assistance for a round trip ticket from Texas to Virginia for her mother. The Soldier had surgery and had no family to assist her with her post op care. The Soldier requested that her mother be flown to Virginia to take care of her. Freedom Alliance went the extra mile to help this soldier with her request. The Soldier, her family, and myself are greatful for the support that was given.
I am a leader of a Girl Scout Troop. Every year at cookie time my girls collect donations of Girl Scout cookies & candy to ship overseas to our soldiers. Freedom Alliance has been a great help with shipping the cookies to our soldiers. My girls look forward to sending the goodies along with thank you cards they make. It's been a great experience for them and it's nice to receive the thank you notes & pictures from the soldiers.
Freedom Alliance has provided two opportunties to our organization (Recreation Therapy Services at the Richomond Vet. Med. Ctr.) We were able to attend a National's Baseball Game and a dinner at Ruth Chris Restaurant which gives our clients the opportunity to practice their social, and cognitive in the community. These opportunities are invaluable as my department didn't have the funds to provide these opportunities.
While I was Navy Region Southwest Ombudsman I had the opportunity to work with Freedom Alliance which at the time was a new resource to us. Our local Rep was wonder and easy to deal with and we were able to help her get into various events for support. I also had a few times to call and see if she could help an individual family or member for an emergency purpose and she always came through to assist.
Now that my spouse is retired and we hear of things I always call the local Rep ask for her services. They are easy to deal with and flexible!
Freedom Allience(FA) has helped our military family programs above and beyond the "call of duty". Working in conjuction with the San Diego Navy MWR, Freedom Allliance has assisted our Individual Augmentee Program, Homecomings and special assistance to military members. Great People to work with. The Freedom Alllance has provided some of our active duty military members at Hurlburt field a wonderful opportunity (s) to create new memories as families recently returning from Deployment got to enjoy a fabulous night out at an upscale local restaurant with loved ones. The way you make us wounded guys feel is unbelievable. The Freedom Alliance has been a tremendous blessing to my life. They have helped make it possible for me to be able to go to college and be able to focus on my goals without having this incredible financial burden. Over winter break I was privileged to be able to study abroad in Vietnam, exploring the different perspectives of the Vietnam War. It truly was an incredible experience, that I will always remember. Driving through the country, talking to the Vietnamese citizens who lived through the war there, and seeing where the soldier actually fought brought the war to life for me and made me appreciate what I was learning about more than I could ever put into words. Connecting with the college students there, also made me realize that even though this country has gone through an incredibly gruesome war and they are still recovering from it, their citizens still have hopes and reams of a better life too. Without the scholarship that I received from the Freedom Alliance, there is no way that I would have been able to study abroad and have this once in a lifetime experience. Thank you so much for all you have done for me!
These folks are incredible!!! Jennifer Omen and her staff came to our base and provided a wonderful dinner for 60 marines at the best restaurant in town. Most of our Marines that attended the dinner stated that they had not eaten at this restaurant before because it was beyond their means. This organization provided a turnkey event for our service members!!! Great Job! please come back to Yuma!!!!
Freedom Alliance has been my "go-to" support program for Marines and Sailors of my Battalion. They are always willing to think outside the box and provide assistance to meet the needs. The professionalism of their staff is commendable and it makes it easy to facilitate support.
WWe are just a small Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) lost as a small entity on a base where the priority is focused on basic training. The difference between a WTU and a Warrior Transition Battalion (WTB) in terms of support is astonishing.
This was the conversation that sparked a changed as a friend referred me to Freedom Alliance while we were attending Senior Leader Course in San Antonio, TX. He presented their organization as "providing free banquets". His was was involved with the Soldier Family Assistance Center (SFAC) at their duty station and had worked with Alicia Behm.
I am a Platoon Sergeant for the Warrior Transition Unit and just wanted to some support to make some great things happen for our Warriors. I am proud to have establish a strong relationship with Freedom Alliance through Alicia Behm because their support has made a world of difference to our unit in terms of boosting morale.
I called my friend Jason and thanked him for referring me to them! I told him "you know these folks are amazing, they do so much more than troop appreciation dinners".
I am very appreciative for all the donations. The troop appreciation dinner was a huge success and it was the first time we had ALL of our Soldiers, Staff, and medical personnel together in the unit's existence! I received positive feedback from almost everyone of how much it improved unit cohesion. The fact that we got to eat at Ruth's Chris Steak House made it that much better.
After explaining to Alicia of how isolated we were in contrast to bigger WTBs she offered to meet with myself and the Commander to discuss additional ways Freedom Alliance could support the unit.
Our unit is very involved with adaptive sports for our injured Soldiers. The two events we are most involved with are Ride 2 Recovery and Warrior Games (Soldier para Olympics). Freedom Alliance provided our cycling team of ten Soldiers with free cycling gear valued at $300 each. This gear is necessary for cycling and it helped us to persuade more Warriors to participate. It is not the fact that the gear is free, the fact is that it is an expensive sport to get into and having the gear available allowed us to get people on a bike by saying "you have to at least try it, let's go get your gear one and take a ride" and from there we now have teams set up to participate in the upcoming two ride 2 recovery challenges for the remainder of the calendar year. This is a major accomplishment for our unit because previously we were unsuccessful in the recruitment of our wounded Soldiers to participate in pretty much anything.
Next they helped us by sponsoring a $3,000 rifle that allowed one of our Soldiers to compete in the Warrior Games. The unit was not able to afford a weapon of such high quality to put it in the Soldiers words: "Before Freedom Alliance gave me this weapon I felt like I was bringing a knife into a gun fight, and if I medal in this competition it's going to be because of this new rifle". The Soldier placed in 4th place overall.
Alicia then called me asking if we had a Soldier deserving of a all paid for vacation. I told her I would query the Cadre and see if we had a good candidate. We selected an excellent Soldier who has been going through very tough times. Both he and his wife are experiencing severe medical illness which has placed a financial and emotional toll on their family life. Freedom Alliance is making it possible for the couple to go on an all paid for vacation to Florida with a $1,000 gift card to purchase on whatever they wish. I cannot even put into words how much this has meant to this Soldier and his family.
And we are eagerly awaiting another Freedom Alliance sponsored event, a organization day at the US National White Water Center, Charlotte, NC. We have a total of 44 Soldiers and family members participating in this event where we have free access to all park features, free lunch, free nanny services, and one free hotel night stay in Charlotte. The event is a team building focused event to help bond a unit that is going through a lot of change a stressful time.
I have worked directly with Alicia and feel extremely grateful for everything! Everything happens for a reason, and the support we have gained has been a Godsend.
I attended the Freedom Alliance event..at Smith Mountain Lake for the Wounded Service Members The trip was amazing and the hospitality of the staff and interns was amazing. We had a stripped bass fishing day, an archery tournament with professional instruction, and assistance from Bowtech ProStaff members, as well as a Handgun competition with NRA instructors. It was truely the most theraputic and fun event for wounded warriors I have been on. We also all received Bowtech Solider Bows to improve our archery abilities. I would reccomend for that everyone looks into this program. The Freedom Alliance Foundation is one of the best organizations to assist Wounded Warriors, and the Family of Fallen Service Members.
All I can say is Thank You to the Entire Freedom Alliance Staff and affiliates as well as to all those that helped support the F.A. in any way!

I found out about Freedom Alliance through my sister, Marisa, who works for the organization. But I experienced firsthand the good work they do when I volunteered at a care package drive organized by Freedom Alliance interns Erin and Maria. I helped Erin, Maria, and Marisa purchase items and assemble them into a bunch of care packages to send to our troops overseas. Just us girls put together about 15 boxes. We even packed a few boxes of goodies specifically for our servicewomen, including nice smelling lotions, figuring they might appreciate some items with a more feminine touch while they bravely serve our country.
I am so proud of what Freedom Alliance does on a daily basis for our brave servicemembers. Having met a few members of the Freedom Alliance Programs team, I can say with certainty that these people are dedicated to serving our military in any and every way they can. Not only are they hardworking, energetic, and lots of fun, but they're also compassionate and genuinely interested in honoring the service and sacrifice of American heroes and their families.
In my job as an Individual Deployment Support Specialist I work to support our Navy families and their mobilized service members. I head an organization of Navy leadership at our base who plan social events for our families. Freedom Alliance has been instrumental in assisting me financially in executing our social activities! They have purchased materials to support events such as: "Build A Bear", where the children created teddy bears and decorated T-shirts. They made it possible for our families to enjoy a family fun day at "Pump It Up" at the holidays. They purchased items so I could fill stockings and have Santa Claus come for a visit. At our most recent July 4th Fireworks Celebration, Freedom Alliance sent us digital picture frame keychains so that the families could document the event to revisit later. I am so grateful to have the support of Freedom Alliance ~ they are the BEST!!!!
My name is Amber R. McDaniel, I am Active duty Army. My current position in the Army is a Squad Leader at a Warrior Transition Unit. My job is to assist Wounded Warrior's back to Duty or to be a valuable Citizen of our Country. I have Wounded Warrior that came to our Unit because he needed to have the hole in his heart repaired. He is a great person and an even better leader. He is always willing to help and he never complains! While he was in the middle of going through the diagnosis and surgery process of his own injury, his wife of 17 years was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer. Despite all of this that is going on with them they have two beautiful children whom they still manage to care for and love just the same as before the Heart and Cancer.
Freedom Alliance had already been working with our Unit in effort to support our Wounded Warriors. Freedom Alliance dondated funds to our Warriors so they could have the proper cycling equipment to go on the Ride 2 Recovery. Freedom Alliance also provided a wonderful meal for not only myself and my fellow Cadre members but the Warriors Case Manager's and Primary Care Manager's also. Freedom Alliance is giving us the oportunity at the end of this month to go on a team building venture in Charlotte, NC. Freedom Alliance had asked if we had a Soldier here that not only deserved (they all deserve it) but needed a free family vacation to Florida I could onlt think of one and that was my Warrior and his wife and children. After a very difficult 18 months for them they were able to get some time to just have fun and not worry about treatments or therapy for one whole entire week. His children were beyond happy and loved getting to meet MIckey and Minnie Mouse with both their Mom and Dad!
Freedom Alliance is a wonderful Nonprofit Organization and I look forward to taking them with me to my next duty station to help them to conintue changing lives for the better!
Freedom Alliance has helped me a great deal. My dad was KIA when I was 13 yrs old. I am now 20 yrs old and attending college. FA has helped my experience attending college less stressful due to not having to worry about the financial burden it would place on my mom and I.
Adam Morgan has been a big help. He has given my mother and I his personal attention each and every time we had a question or needed help with the application process. Thank you Adam!
As the years go on in this war we are going to have more and more children that loose a parent. FA helps those children.

When my sister, Erin Scherer, began interning at Freedom Alliance I was interested to hear about all of her new and exciting experiences. It is clear that she has learned a great deal and has a newfound appreciation for the men and women who serve in the armed forces. I was glad to make a small contribution when I participated in a care package drive that Erin organized for a marine regiment in Afghanistan. At the drive I met Maria, a development intern and Marisa, a programs officer and was impressed by their enthusiasm and willingness to help others. Recently, I visited the office and was fortunate enough to get a tour and meet some of the employees. Their genuine passion and dedication for helping others was evident even though I was only there for a brief time. Everyone I met was very friendly, and there was no shortage of jokes or interesting stories. I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to get a glimpse of the inner workings of this impressive organization.
I was a CPL in the US Army, injured in a roadside bombing 1 August 2007 that resulted in the amputation of my left leg below the knee. I met people from the Freedom Alliance this past year, the have been very supportive of my softball team, the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team. Coming to local games, cheering us on and hanging out with us after games to relax. I can tell they have a great interest and care about all the soldiers they come into contact with, truly is a great organization.
I am a Warrant Officer and have served in the Army for over twelve years, I am an OEF Veteran and am currently assigned to the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Bragg, NC while I go through a Medical Evaluation Board. When I was first shown the flier for the Freedom Alliance trip at Smith Mountain Lake, VA I saw that there was Striper fishing and was sold I immediately signed up. I am an Avid fisherman and a volunteer with Heroes on The Water, a program that helps Wounded Warriors, Veterans and their families relax, rehabilitate, and reintegrate through Kayak Fishing and the outdoors. I had no idea that i would experience as much as i did and that i would take away as many long lasting memories, and connections with others. I have tried to tell others about the trip and have found that it is almost to much to describe. I greatly enjoyed the Striper fishing and although i only caught one it was a nice 30 incher, I also have an open invitation from the Captain of the boat i was on to return and fish that immense and beautiful lake again. I was very surprised that nice Compact Bows were given to us from Bow Tech, I had a blast at the archery range and will continue to perfect my archery skills and plan to go bow hunting for the first time this fall. Kip West was awesome and his dedication to giving back to us anyway he can was noticed and greatly appreciated by all of us. I can go on and on about my personal experiences on this trip that was organized to thank and support us veterans. What I would really like to comment on and what will have a lasting impression on me is the genuine dedication of Pepper and his Freedom Alliance staff and volunteers to make it an amazing and memorable experience. They were great and did everything they could to cater to us and show there appreciation. They did an amazing job at planning all the events and bringing it all together. I personally know how much goes into organizing Kayak Fishing trips but could only imagine the preparation and leg work that went into a trip like that.The Smith Mountain Lake community also came out and their gratitude and the respect they showed for us was almost to much, they were great and i will definitely return there one day with my two daughters. After that amazing trip was over the dedicated Staff of Freedom Alliance continued to stay in touch and continue the friendship with all of us that participated. THANK YOU to Freedom Alliance for everything that you did and continue to do especially Pepper, Adam, Maria, and Erin.

Freedom Alliance I am so glad that we found you. I am very grateful for your assistance in financial aid for my daughter. You don't know how much of a burden you have lifted from my shoulders. Freedom Alliance has developed so many successful "where-the-rubber-meets-the-road" programs of support - financial, thousands of care packages sent to active duty troops, nationwide dinners and events for injured and their families, AND they provide scholarships for children of our fallen heroes, AND their unique Military Leadership Academy (MLA) every summer for high school students is a "hands on" education program of both classroom and field work from which numerous cadets have now gone on to our military academies and service to our county for the future.
What an amazing and effective organization - no wonder it is certified Best in America by the Independent Charities of America. It is certainly five star top-notch in my book.... It's the people there, the founders, all the volunteers, donors and partners. Thank you for all you do. I am forever glad that I have been fortunate enough to meet and work with many of them. I did not know what to expect when I first started interning at Freedom Alliance. I had heard of them and knew it was a good organization, but I did not realize how dedicated and passionate the people who work there are. Every day I see how much time and thought is put into every program Freedom Alliance has. There is such a strong emphasis on establishing and maintaining relationships with the people they serve that is unparalleled by other similar organizations. It is inspiring to see how excited the people at Freedom Alliance get when they are able to make a difference in someone's life, and working here has helped me realize that I want to spend my life directly helping improve the lives of others.
The work Freedom Alliance does is so meaningful and the people who carry out the programs really take pride in what they do. When a scholarship recipient comes in to the office to have lunch and meet the staff, the whole office lights up. When a Wounded Warrior mentions that the event Freedom Alliance hosted was the first time in a long time they were able to get out of the hospital and relax, their words are shared with the whole organization.
I am so grateful to have this unbelievable opportunity to work so closely with some of the nicest and most generous people I have known. I have learned so much more than I ever imagined in the mere seven weeks I have been here and continue to learn new things every day.
The service members and family members that Freedom Alliance aims to serve are so selfless and deserving of recognition for their sacrifices. It is amazing to hear their stories every day. And when Freedom Alliance wants to recognize and honor these sacrifices, they do so thoroughly and wholeheartedly.

Freedom Alliance has been an amazing organization for myself and my family! My father is a 100% disabled veteran. The organization has made it possible for my brother and myself to make it through college and achieve our dreams. In addition to the scholarship that we received, the staff of Freedom Alliance has been extremely supportive throughout my experience. They have even helped me to visit Walter Reed Hospital, which has been a dream since receiving my physical therapy degree. I have also had the opportunity to see first hand how caring everyone at this organization is. They truly care for everyone that they are helping!
Freedom Alliance has truly changed the lives of of my family and I. My dad is a 100% disabled veteran. The special thing about Freedom Alliance is that it is so much more than than an organization offering scholarships, it's a support system, staffed with amazing people that I have been very fortunate to meet. My family was invited to a freedom concert in Dallas last summer to see a great line up of artists as well as meet Colonel Oliver North. It was our first family vacation in over 10 years and I can honestly say it was one of the best weekends of my dads life and definitely mine. We have also been invited to a Jacksonville Marine Corps event as well which was amazing. I am so thankful we found Freedom Alliance, the scholarship has helped keep me in school. With my dad now battling cancer, we couldn't have asked for a better "thank you" for his service.
Freedom Alliance is by far the best organization I have come in contact with. They have far exceeded my expectations on what a program can do to help military families and be involved with them and keep in contact. Being part of the Freedom Alliance family has helped me in many ways than possible! Without them going to college would have been a struggle financially. They know everything they are doing and very helpful with any questions or concerns of mine or my mother. They are just a great organization hands down, and I love being a part of it.
Freedom Alliance has seriously been a blessing! They have gone above and beyond the call of duty! I'm in my senior year of college and they have always been great. This is a great program and they really know what they are doing. The people that work for Freedom Alliance really enjoy their jobs and it shows to the clients. I attended the concert and was very proud to hear about the many families and students Freedom Alliance is helping. People need to check out facts before adding their opinion on where the funds are going. In 2006, 77 percent went to program activities, 2007 it was 81.5 percent and 2008 79 percent. Not to mention it was a great concert! There will always be people trying to tear down something that is good. Shame on you.
