I was a Local Race Director for a Freedom 424 race this past April. I am the Director of Missions and Outreach at a local church in LA and we wanted to partner with Freedom 424 to hold this race. The quality that sold me on Freedom 424 is that first and most importantly, they are a faith-based, Christ centered organization. Next, they partner with other faith-based ministries to help rescue & restore victims of sexual slavery. The cause behind this organization is amazing. Producing awareness of the realities of sexual slavery is so essential for this awful industry to be brought to a stop. Most people don't even know trafficking happens probably right in their own area. Freedom 424 makes awareness a priority, as well as giving actions steps to alleviate the problem.
Did I mention they are super easy to work with? It's like a race in a box. They take care of the back work, graphics, signage etc and make sure you are set up for success. Is it still a lot of work? Yes, but on race day when you are running for the lives of those who are engulfed unwillingly into the life of sexual slavery, it is all so worth it.
Can I just give a big shout out to the Ryan and Abby Barr too? They came out to our race and Ryan helped me every step of the way get everything together. This non-profit not only has an amazing vision to cast, but truly exceptional people on their staff.
Freedom 4/24 is an amazing organization that has been working hard to open the eyes of individuals to plight of the women and children who are victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking. It's hard to believe that these issues are not only occurring overseas but also in our own back yard. I don't want to stand in the darkness of ignorance and, as a board member, I am proud to be working with a team that is strategic, diligent and wise in their approach to "bringing freedom and doing justice." For such a huge issue, Freedom 4/24 does a great job at breaking down the simplicity of what I can do to play my part and join with others in taking a stand against these atrocities.
Freedom 4/24 takes an overwhelmingly huge issue (human trafficking and sexual exploitation) and gives "regular" individuals the tools to stand against it. As a board member, I am consistently encouraged by the measures taken by our staff to expand and improve our work on the front lines. Our staff is comprised of humble, visionary leaders who are passionate about the role they play in helping to bring freedom and do justice for victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
