I love Free Flight - the tropical landscaping, the calming Koi pond and the beautiful exotic birds that line the pathway as you walk through. With the help of very knowledgeable staff and volunteers you can handle the birds. There isn't anything like Free Flight's sanctuary in Southern California - it's unique and very special. It's especially amazing that they have been in Del Mar for over 30 years and harness 40+ years of parrot experience. It's simply a place you have to visit if you love birds and want to see them up close.

Free flight is the only place I trust with my birds when im on vacation or just going out for the day. They require current vet work so I know my bird is in healthy company, unlike some other boarding facilities in San Diego. I also volunteer so I know first hand how the birds are treated. Each bird is fed a wonderful diet of pellets seed nuts fruits and veggies each day and their cages are cleaned every day too. The birds are socialized by the public under the supervision of knowledgeable employees, so you know your parrot is receiving the best care/attention possible!

I went there after finding them on groupon and I loved it so much. At only 5 dollars, it's the best value I can think of for my money. I get to play with exotic birds without any of the mess of actually owning one. I own a parakeet and I'm amazed at how much of a mess such a tiny little bird makes. THe staff is helpful and answers all my questions. I now volunteer there.

When we first went to Freeflight, we were unsure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised to find that we could interact with the birds, as they are out on their perches. The staff was friendly, and knowledgeable about each bird and it's personality. We got to hold lots of birds and were endlessly entertained by their antics, and variety of noises, such as the bird who constantly made the sound of a phone ringing. Since they're a sancuary, they have birds that have plucked their feathers out and aren't at their most beautiful, but they're out for people to see and interact with. I found these to be the sweetest, cuddliest birds! We've taken friends here and intend to make many more visits. It's a GREAT experience!!
