Causes: Civil Rights, Lesbian & Gay Rights, LGBTQ
Mission: OUR MISSION TO SERVE LGBTQIA ELDERS, YOUTH, AND EVERYONE IN BETWEEN The Frank Harr Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization serving the LGBTQIA community while educating the community at large on LGBTQIA issues and specific needs.
Results: Just under 800 subscribed to our mailing list!
Target demographics: the whole LGBTQIA+ community
Direct beneficiaries per year: promote the AIDS Quilt for the second year in a row and hopefully a reoccurring event. We have also hosted several seminars via Zoom regarding the current tensions regarding race within the country. This was within collaboration with our local university.
Geographic areas served: educating the community of Wilmington, NC
Programs: resources aimed towards affirming local businesses such as, housing assistance, legal advice, religious affiliations, doctors, mental health care, etc. Also, hosting events to promote inequalities within the LGBTQIA+ community and intersectionality between the queer community and black, indigenous people of color.
The Frank Harr Foundation offers so many wonderful services to the LGBTQIA community. It is clear that the people who are part of this non-profit strive their hardest to be there and expand much-needed resources. If only there were more people like them to help this little non-profit grow, their impact would also grow!
