Incredible....That is the first word I think of to help others learn about FOAS. The staff is "incredible", Ruth Wood is "incredible", Betty Erickson is "incredible"; they are the glue that makes it all work. My mother has been fortunate enough to be a part of this family in one way or another since 2014. The care and concern that is given to her is so important to help her on her journey to help her maintain some independence and still be a part of an active group. This Adult Day Service allows me to keep working and have a safe place for my mom. I could not be more grateful. Fox Valley Older Adult Services is a GREAT NON-PROFIT!
Fox Valley Community Services is always reaching out with helpful and inviting gatherings for seniors in this community. I happen to work with this agency and enjoy it. The staff is always helpful and easy to work with. I'm happy to work here.
Fox Valley Community Services provides so many wonderful programs and aid for our entire community. Among them are 2 support groups for families dealing with the most difficult journey of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. I am proud to be a co-facilitator in these groups.
MY wife, Karen, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease. I cared for her at home for 7 years with very little help from her family. I became exhausted and burnt out. Karen had almost no social contact and stopped eating and began to lose weight. She was extremely unhappy with me all the time. Then, suddenly her family support stopped for no reason. Next, our 33-year-old son was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive cancer. I was ready to collapse. Fox Valley Community Services came to my rescue. Karen began attending their Adult Day Care facility four times a week. What a blessing!!
Suddenly, Karen. had many new friends. The staff was very professional but also so compassionate and caring. They included Karen in all their activities, and she ate very, very well and gained some weight. Karen just loved going there so much and was so happy while there. She was treated with love and respect.
This program is so valuable to our community. It provides necessary care for so many families in desperate need of it's services for 1 day to 5 days a week, often even helping with transportation. I still continue to support them in any way I can. Karen's photo is on their website page for the Adult Day Care. They helped me at a time that I was so lost and desperate. I will always be so grateful to the
Adult Day Care Program and all of Fox Valley Community Services.

Over the past 3 years, I've become my mother's medical and financial POA, primary care giver, cook, launderer, chauffeur, personal groomer, valet, and room mate.
A little more than one year ago, I bought and moved into a home in DeKalb, Illinois. The move to DeKalb was the culmination of a 3 year plan to become the primary caregiver for my mother; who has dementia.
Another important element of my plan was to find and move into a safe and comfortable home; in a community with excellent adult day services.
I found both in DeKalb, Illinois!
In the spring of 2022, I began researching the pros and cons of various Chicago-area communities. My main criteria were: senior services, cost of living, quality of life, demographics, real estate prices, and easy access to family in Chicago.
During the summer of 2022, while house hunting in DeKalb and Kane Counties, I began attending Fox Valley's Dementia Support Group meetings at the Kapper Center in DeKalb. I found the Kapper Center staff supportive, knowledgeable, empathetic, patient, and positive. I also found the Kapper Center environment informal, relaxing and reassuring.
My experience, and what I learned at Kapper, caused me to narrow my house-hunting search to DeKalb, Illinois.
In the fall of 2022, my mother began attending Kapper Adult Elder Daycare services in DeKalb. She's been attending for almost a year now.
I am so grateful for the professionalism, support, patience, empathy, honesty, humor, Consistency, Comfort and Care Kapper Center staff have given my mother and me!
Earlier this summer, I began thinking of ways to demonstrate to Kapper staff how grateful I am for the love and care they've given my mom. After pondering a bit longer, I began searching for an appropriate way to thank them.
After consulting with family and friends, I decided to give Dunkin' Donut gift cards to mom’s Kapper staff team members; which I did in September. The staff members reacted to their gift cards with humility, graciousness, and solemnity.
I appreciate the staff at Kapper and Fox Valley Adult Day Services. They are wonderful and gifted professionals, who do an important job—well! I thank them for all they do for our family members; even the things we never hear about.
A really caring place that goes the extra mile to help seniors in our community. They have a day program with activities, an active senior program with a large variety of things to do, community lunches offered M-F and a home service to help seniors in their home.
Fox Valley Community Services is making a positive impact in the rural community of LaSalle, DeKalb, and Kendall counties. Their dedication to helping seniors live a fulfilling and independent life is truly admirable. Their Home Services, Adult Day Services, and Active Adult Programs are essential for filling a gap in the community and providing much-needed support. It's heartening to know that there are organizations like Fox Valley Community Services that are committed to providing care and compassion to those in need. Their work is a testament to the kindness and generosity that exists in our communities, and we should all be grateful for their service.
