Causes: Government & Public Administration
Mission: The foundation performs original research to examine federal spending and programs with an emphasis on documenting inefficiencies, program overlap, waste, fraud and abuse and the total costs of long term obligations of the federal government.
Programs: Build and launch of pursuit. The foundation worked with a web developer on the launch of a new venture, pursuit, a rebranding of the foundation's public facing program. We worked with a web developer to design and build a new brand and website that will vastly improve the user capabilities of our visitors. Beyond the improved aesthetics, the site also includes valuable tools to policy analysts and the general public, including a searchable report database that includes key reports with our takeaways and summaries, an interactive meme generator that highlights misplaced priorities, and an agency profile with details about each federal agency.
audience collaboratin events. Last march we hosted an event called tournament of government waste, a march madness themed tournament where the waste of the year was crowned bracket style with four rounds of audience votes. The submissions included several from senators lankford, flake, and paul, rep. Russell and several from the audience. We also got the audience involved in government reform efforts when the office of management and budget (omb) solicited reform ideas from thje american people. We crowdsourced government reform ideas from our audience through a project called make government work again. Following a month of audience participation, restor accountability submitted a final report to the omb that included the best ideas from our nearly 200 reader submissions.

Our report found a 100% failure rate, spurring an investigation request by senators flake, paul, johnson , mccain and lankford and made the front page of the washington times and politico's morning education. We were also able to participate on a panel discussion at the 2017 government performance summit hosted by the perormance institute, where our executive director spoke about congressional transparency and performance legislative priorities and how organizations such as restor accountability rely on transparency such as usaspending.
