Mission: The Foundation was created to support the Archivist of the United States in developing programs, technology, projects, and materials that will introduce and interpret the Archives’ holdings to the American people and to people around the world. The purpose of the Foundation is to educate, enrich, and inspire a deeper appreciation of our country’s heritage through the collected evidence of its history.
Programs: National archives store: the national archives store plays a vital role in fulfilling the mission of the national archives foundation. As the exclusive gift shop of the national archives museum, the national archives store supports exhibition and educational messaging through the development and presentation of high-quality merchandise highlighting the holdings of the national archives. All proceeds help support national archives exhibits, public programs, and educational initiatives across the country.
museum activities: museum activities are intended to support audience development, branding and promotion of the national archives, as well as volunteer programs. Activities during 2017 included the july 4th celebration and many others.
exhibitions: during the current fiscal year, the lawrence f. O'brien gallery continued to host the exhibit, "amending america", an overview of the constitution and the process of amending it over the life of our nation. This exhibit opened in march of 2016 and closed september 2017. Also funded was a travelling exhibit based upon the bill of rights.
