Under the talented directorship of Elise Bernhardt, this organization has literally sprung back to life after a sleepy if not moribund period. It is a joy to see how it is impacting every area of Jewish culture including education. It is opening up opportunities to folks who never before had a Jewish organization to call their own. It is also seeking out and finding the best talent world wide due to Elise's uncanny sense of style and ability to smell out real talent in all nooks and crannies of the world. Kol haKavod, to you. Your neighbor and friend

I have been on the board and an officer of the Foundation for Jewish Culture for the past 10 years. During that time I have been able to participate in most of the programs that the FJC has sponsored. Not only has the quality always been outstanding but these programs have added to the total fabric of the Jewish community and the community at large in education and giving new perspective to so many different issues. The FJC is the only Jewish organization that supports scholars and artists exploring the jewish experience. I cannot begin to state how vital this organization is to the greater understanding of us as a people.

The Foundation for Jewish Culture will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010 and should be recognized not only for its contributions to the general cultural landscape, but also for its ability to respond to the changing needs of scholars and other creative individuals. The FJC discerns unmet needs and also foresees where change must be encouraged and supported. Communities and other organizations have benefitted from the FJC's national and global reach, program innovation and ability to convene within and across disciplines. The current Executive Director, Elise Bernhardt, is a dynamic, dedicated woman who understands the "psyche" of creative people and at the same time is able to meet organizational imperatives.

Foundation for Jewish Culture is the only organization that supports artists and scholars exploring the Jewish experience. It is nearly 50 years old and has made a huge impact on our landscape. It is low key but packs a huge punch! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
