Causes: Black Led, Civil Rights, Minority Rights
Mission: The Mission of our organization is to elevate Black Heritage through music and arts and to promote the growth of visual art, drama, entertainment, literature, and dance. Nestled in the Heart of Houston, the Foundation encourages young people to know and love the arts and fosters the values of self-discipline, teamwork and excellence.
Results: The Foundation has successfully proven there is not only a need for what it offers, but a want and desire for what it offers in the community. Evidenced by the outstanding participation and involvement it has been able to garner so far. Our festivals have been attended by over 13,000 Houstonians, supported by close to 35 community partners and sponsors. Additionally, the Foundation has created a tribute program for those with a legacy of supporting the African-American community and unique entrepreneurship program for youth in local private schools. In addition the Foundation has created, the Youth Ambassadors Project. It is meant to give teenagers valuable experience as new entrants into the workforce and community. The program is centered around the Annual Houston Black Heritage Music & Arts Fest and is made of four main components; volunteering, public speaking, learning, and project management However, this is only the beginning. Now, the Foundation hopes to use this attention to create relationships throughout (and with) the city. As well as continue, emboldening and uplifting African American youth by connecting them with their past.
