Mission: Fostering Hope is a volunteer-run, donation-based, 501(c)(3) organization that serves the foster care community. Our mission is to empower youth experiencing foster care, nurture families, and restore dignity to every child we serve. Our goals are to reduce the barriers that stand in the way of people opening their hearts and homes to fostering and to make the transition into the foster care system less traumatic for children. We provide free resources to foster families, kinship care families, pre- and post-adoptive families, biological families on safety plans with their local child welfare office, and young adults who have recently aged out. Through comprehensive support, advocacy, and compassionate care, we are committed to creating a world where every child experiencing foster care feels valued, cherished, and equipped to thrive.
Results: Our Board is comprised of 4 women, 2 of whom are foster and adoptive parents who benefitted from the generosity of family and friends over a weekend to obtain everything they needed to accept their first placement into their homes. The idea was born to find a way to provide that same support so that other families might open their homes to the most vulnerable children among us. The original chapter opened in a storage unit in Montgomery County in 2019 and has grown into an office space that houses a spacious and organized clothing room (the Foster Share Closet), a baby gear storage room, meeting rooms for supervised visits and a conference room, all through donations. Since its inception, Fostering Hope has expanded to include chapters in Berks County, Bucks County, Chester County, Delaware County, Northampton County, York County, and most recently, Philadelphia County Northwest, and Philadelphia County Northeast. We annually serve over 1,000 kids experiencing foster care.
