As a foster and adoptive parent his place has been more help than I can ever say. From meeting me late one night when I got a ER placement who only had the ripped shirt on his back. It was winter. They gave us lots of clothing to get by. The best thing is the support. The advice, encouragement and pure love they show to everyone is remarkable. I now volunteer when I can to help give back a little for all they have helped me with. I am forever grateful.
They have made my life as a foster parent so much less stressful. Also, I can't express the joy the kids have when they get the new things when they first come into care and when they go shopping anytime. It's very spectacular!! They are amazing!!
This place has helped thousand of foster kids, foster parents and many others over the years. Letting the kids “shop” for their own clothes, toys, shoes, Halloween costumes, sheets, etc is amazing. Watching the self esteem it builds and the pure love it shows is heart warming. They give every new kid into care new clothing, underwear, socks, shoes and a toy. This alone is more than most of these kids have ever seen. Then they let them pick ANYTHING and as much as they want for no charge!
As a foster parent they have helped me too many times to count. Getting a call later at night and then the child has a ripped onesie as the only clothing they came with. In the middle of winter! They helped me get a snow suit, clothing, car seat, bouncer, etc. all things I passed back once our foster son our grew them. This is ran on volunteers only and they do a amazing job. I can’t rave about them enough.
This group is all non profit and I mean non profit . Each sunday volunteers come together to give foster children clothe shoes toys and even their own blankets. I have witnessed groups coming, sorting cloth and toys, so children can have a normal childhood. every penny that comes in is spent on the children, please please consider them.
Their name keeps popping up and some of my dearest friends have been greatly helped by their services. I hear nothing but good reports of kind people providing clothes and supplies to foster families, all at no cost. In addition to material needs they provide references, information, and community for those who serve and care for children in Genesee County.
The fostercloset of Michigan Genesee county is been such a lifesaver for my family. We took in a baby at 5 months old who was neglected and abused. I've had her for 7 months now. we are fostering her but she is also our granddaughter. I am so blessed to be able to come to the fostercloset and update her wardrobe as she grows. the people at the fostercloset and become wonderful friends and a village in a sense to me and my granddaughter. I love them all so much if it wasn't for them I don't know how I would ever be able to afford clothing for this baby girl. We're blessed that everything is free for us to get for the baby
They are not just an organization or a building, they become friends and supporters for foster parents as we try to do our best for the Foster Children placed in our homes. They gather donations and organize them so we can "shop" for free to provide for the abused and neglected children!
Genesee County Foster Closet of Michigan helps abused and neglected children on a daily basis. No only do they run the closet for kids to come and get new and used items, they provide backpacks and school supplies at the beginning of the school year and they do an Easter Egg hunt at Easter for foster children, the foster parents, and any biological children of the foster parents! They also provide bikes to children when they have them. Certain times of the year they do new toy giveaways as well! Very proud to be a supporter of this organization and any help they could receive is greatly appreciated.
This group is amazing! They solicit donations of clothing, shoes and other needs of abuse and neglect of children in Genesee county. It is amazing how they have brought their community together to help support these children in great need. They are so dedicated to these children that they will go into the closet night and day to make sure children that are new to the foster care system have the basic necessities that every child should have.
This non-profit organization has helped my family so much! They gave us the opportunity to have beds ready for my children to sleep in, they opened up in the middle of the night so I could get my 2 year (at the time) clean underwear and cloths to wear. I got my 2 year old son at 3am in the morning screaming and crying with soiled underwear. It was in this moment I thought we were prepared for whatever God would throw our way, boy was I wrong. I was definitely inadequate on the things we needed. So I thank god for the foster closet! They spoil neglected and abused children for every holiday and any chance they have. They help with back to school items and just about anything you can think of that these children need. It is a very important organization and an organization very close to my heart. If there any way you contribute you could also be making a big difference in these children’s life. ❤️
Foster Closet of Michigan - Genesee County has brought me the ability to give to abused and neglected children in a way that I could never image. We are small but mighty.
