Foster Army Animal Rescue has a mission to save the lives of those animals who, without their intervention, would not be here sharing their love. They rescue the old, sick, injured who get overlooked, isolated, and deemed 'not adoptable'. They work with volunteers and fosters who care for and love the fur babies. When ready, they are adopted into loving and carefully screened homes, so they have a chance to live the life they deserve - happy, healthy and loved! I have fostered many of their rescued pups - who have gone on to get adopted into devoted and caring homes. Great organization who puts the animals first and thinks outside the stigma of the general definition of 'adoptable' pets and realizes that they are all in fact, adoptable - with their help, dedication and commitment.
Foster Army is a wonderful place to shop and volunteer. Everyone is friendly. They have a large variety of great items. And they do everything for the sick or injured pets they take in, rehabilitate, and put up for adoption.
Foster Army Animal Rescue continues to live up to its mission of helping pets who are most in need of rescue. Their mission is clear and I’m proud to support them!

Foster Army Animal Rescue is a group I’m proud to serve. The focus of the organization never strays (pardon the pun). They are completely dedicated to saving animals and giving them the best life possible. Every volunteer, foster parent and staff member shares that focus and works together for the benefit of the animals. FAAR is an example of what a successful nonprofit organization should be.
This is a wonderful organization that truly cares about the animals they take in. They receive the most vulnerable of pets (sick, injured, underage, elderly, and disabled) from the local animal control. Dedicated volunteers care for them in their homes until they are adopted. This is a top notch organization!

Foster Army Animal Rescue is a wonderful organization that works hard to save the "treatable" pets...the underage, the sick, the injured, the disabled. The foster volunteers take care of these sweet animals until they are ready for adoption. The Thrift Store generates much needed funds for the medical treatments and surgeries. Thank you FAAR!!!
Foster Army Animal Rescue has continued through the years to hold a special place in my heart. They continue to help those animals who are most in need. The seniors, the tripods, the neglected, and those with trust issues, just to name a few. I will continue to support them and do what I can to help them save lives.

I just foster failed on the best little girl. I couldn't have asked for anything better. The staff is open to questions and are there to offer answers and solutions. This is definitely a must when getting a new puppy. I would recommend this rescue to any and every one.
Such a great organization. I have followed them for years, and their dedication is pawsitively unrelenting. I always donate when I can, because I know it goes to the animals that truly need it the most.

It's been three years since I was first introduced to Foster Army when I adopted a sweet hamster - who is still alive and well, but getting old! Since then, I continue to visit the animals and the thrift store as often as I can. They also do a lot of community events, such as education, free microchips, blood drives, city clean ups, and more. I love how they help animals AND the community. Thank you, Foster Army!
What a wonderful organization. They rescue all animals and have a cute little thrift store where you can meet and adopt a pet.
It is a great place to volunteer and shop at. The volunteers, staff and customers are all very nice and friendly. The store is very organized and well stocked. New items are coming in every day. It is so heart warming seeing the fosters being adopted.
The thrift store always has amazing items and the $ raised supports the rescue animals! They take in the animals who need it most, regardless of the medical costs. They continue to take care of the animals, no matter how long, until they find their forever home. It is truly an awesome organization! I love supporting them however I can!
I have adopted several animals from Foster Army. They are amazing and rescue the animals most in need!

I absolutely love Foster Army’s mission of helping the animals most in need - the misfits, seniors, sick, injured, and special needs. I adopted my 2 furbabies from them, I have fostered and volunteered for years. I have met the most kind, caring, supporters of animals through this organization. They truly care about every animal. I would highly recommend checking out their thrift store!!
I have shopped, donated, and supported Foster Army for years, and will continue to do so. They are unwavering in their commitment to the animals and the volunteers are always so kind and nice! I love rescues that are good to animals AND people.

I've worked with Foster Army for several years now. It's been amazing watching this organization grow and evolve without losing focus on its mission. It's been a real honor and hope to continue volunteering for many years to come.
A joyful organization that cares for pets injured, disabled and the aged. I fostered for them and it was a wonderful experience. I also adopted a tri-pawed dog who has brought much happiness into my life!
Foster Army has been a huge blessing in the Riverside rescue community, not only do they work their hardest to rescue animals, but they work hard to make sure the animals live their lives to the fullest, too. They commit to take on animals who have special needs or have just had a hard life, and always manage to work WITH the sweet animals until they find a forever home, even if it takes a while. They make a difference in this community for sure, I always recommend people to donate to them or look into adopting from this program, because I know they will treat the animals with the utmost care and respect from start to finish in the adoption (or rescue) process. I’ve been a foster parent for some of their rescues, and I can see the passion all of the volunteer and foster families have for these animals, regardless of their care requirements. Foster Army Rescue is the way to go .
Foster Army is so amazing! They go above and beyond to help the animals most in need. I have fostered, adopted and shopped at the thrift store. I love fostering and meeting so many great animals ❤️
I love shopping at this thrift store, and I make sure to do it on Saturdays so I can see all the adorable animals up for adoption. I'm not in a position to adopt myself, but it warms my heart to see all the fur babies. I love the tender care this rescue puts into each animal. The volunteers are eager to share each one's story and behavior in the foster home.
Foster Army is an amazing organization! They rescue the animals that nobody else will, no matter the cost! I’ve fostered for them for years and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done!
I’ve fostered for Foster Army for several years now. What strikes me the most is how unwaning their dedication is. A lot of non profits fizzle out as they succumb to compassion fatigue and other interests. The volunteers here still give everything - physically and emotionally - to the pets. Proud to be part of this team!

Absolutely love their mission! They focus on the most at risk animals that would otherwise be put to sleep. It’s great to shop at a thrift store whose focus is on animal rescue. Great deals and for a great cause!
I love this organization! They are honest and have true intentions in their efforts to save animals lives. They take in animals from the euthanasia list which are usually the sick and injured. They rehabilitate them and have strict adoption policies, so you know the animals they save are going to good homes. I adopted a dog from them 5 years ago and she's been the sweetest thing in my life. I've been following them and go to all their events. Thank you Foster Army for all you do and keep up the good work.
An amazing organization that helps so many animals---cats, dogs, hamsters, bunnies, and more. A fantastic thrift store and great volunteers!
Foster Army is a wonderful rescue. They take in animals that are less likely to be adopted (often handicapped, or labeled as aggressive) and in imminent danger of being put down. We initially adopted a bunny from Foster Army to be a friend to our first rabbit. He was said to be mean and unfit to be with other rabbits. Turns out, that couldn't be further from the truth. It was love at first sight for those two, and he follows her everywhere she goes, and does whatever she tells him to. Since then, we've adopted two more rabbits from Foster Army and they are the joys of our household! With each adoption, they make sure we are able to take care of the pets, and have contingency plans, so they will enjoy long happy lives with us. We appreciate the care and love they show all animals that come into their care, and the fact that they stay in contact after. Foster Army is the best!
OMG there isn’t enough space to write all the wonderful things that FAAR does! Every single animal That lives there gets the best care. Every animal is treated as an individual w/unique needs. Their mental & emotional health is treated as just as important as physical health. FAAR is the best place on earth for homeless pets other than a furever home. The staff is wonderful and so caring and attentive. Fundraisers are an absolute joy to attend. Our community is very lucky to have them and anyone who is looking for a pet or a place to donate time or financially should really consider them. They are very deserving!
Great rescue! They have such great, helpful and very friendly staff♥️ I’ve been to many of their fundraisers and have enjoyed each one. And having fur babies there to adopt of just make you feel good is always a crowd pleaser m. The staff gives 100% in all the do for the recuses ⬛
I am a foster for this organization of dedicated, caring pet people. They cover all of the expenses required to get the animals healthy and keep them that way until we can find the right forever homes.
If you’ve ever thought about fostering, give it a try. The rewards far outweigh the heartbreak when your beloved foster goes home for good.
I've been volunteering with FAAR since just before "the shutdown." All throughout the pandemic, the fosters have been taking in animals to be rehabbed/raised, the store volunteers have been taking in donations and began an online-store to continue a revenue stream, and everyone involved with Foster Army Animal Rescue has worked just as hard, if not harder, than ever to save as many animals as possible. The thrift store is clean and well organized. The fosters take great care of all the animals. I enjoy being able to help out where I can and to spread the good word about FAAR's good work!!
I've been with Foster Army Animal Rescue since the first day they started. I'm a long time foster first time poster. Years ago I fostered two sister puppies, one smooth coat and one wired haired. Once they were healthy and ready for adoption the smooth coat sister got adopted at her debut adoption day. Her wired haired sister ended up staying with us for over 5 months before she got adopted. We loved the wired haired sister and having her so long we naturally bonded with her, but we knew we couldn't keep her as we wanted to continuing fostering. Two years went by and I got a call that the wired haired sister is being returned and If I'd be willing to foster her again. This is why I love Foster Army Animal Rescue because they are committed to every pet they take in and take back any pet no questions asked. Of corse I fostered my wired haired former foster and after two weeks of having her back, I filled out an adoption application and became a foster failure.
We got our sweet Ganon as a Foster from Foster Army, and we foster failed! I love this organization so much. They go above and beyond to rescue animals, and definitely do their due diligence to make sure they go to a good home. I love the fact that all these animals go to loving, caring fosters, and don’t just spend their lives in cages waiting for adoption. We plan to be a part of the Foster Army family as long as we can!
What an amazing group of people! So passionate and dedicated to the work they do for the most vulnerable animals. I adopted my sweet girl from here and they were helpful and informative.
Great pet rescue! I adopted two kittens at two separate times from them. They provided great education with my first kitten as far as behavior and training tips. With my second kitty, they followed up with communication on how to introduce them, and what to do if they aren’t getting along. Both kittens were healthy and could tell they were well-loved by their foster families.
I’ve been involved with FAAR since its beginnings, as an adopter, a volunteer and most often, a foster. They are amazingly positive, supportive of both people and animals, and just a wonderful force in our community. I’ve interacted with other rescues, but none have measured up.
Foster Army have saved hundreds of lives of the innocent babies they rescue! They deserve to be recognized and if enough people contribute they can save many more lives of overlooked animals in need. All the kuddos to the animal heroes!
In the past, we've fostered close to 10 dogs for Foster Army, and each time we were amazed at how these dogs blossomed. These were dogs that came matted, injured, diseased, disfigured, and in all-around pitiable condition. These dogs were all given a second chance at life and love, and being part of and watching each of them heal and find forever homes touched the heart.
The team at FAAR are also dedicated and passionate people. Even with wanting to find a home for each animal, it's about finding the RIGHT home for each animal. I'm impressed with the level of screening and follow up that goes into making sure the pet and the adopting family are right for each other. And, not to mention, none of them are in this line of work to make money. They do this because they have a calling to care for animals who would otherwise be euthanized or left to die. They also help educate on responsible pet ownership.
The thrift store is also quite fun. It's always fun to see what people donate. I've found some very nice items there for reasonable prices. The store is clean and well-organized. Treasure hunters paradise! And they hold fun sales often--my favorite is the poker chip discount sale.
And, of course, we ended up foster failing. Oliver came to us at 8 weeks old--abandoned at the shelter drop box with two broken front legs. We fostered him through Foster Army...and we couldn't let him go. We love him to the moon and back. Every day I look at him and know that if it hadn't been for Foster Army, Oliver would have been euthanized.
We appreciate Foster Army and the work they do to help save more dogs (and other animals!) like Oliver. They are an extraordinary organization.
I’ve been with this amazing organization since it’s inception. We take in “at risk”, treatable animals that just need a chance to become healthy companion pets. This includes the neonates, the old, the sick and the injured. As you can imagine our vet bills are pretty hefty so the Thrift Store and donations from our generous supporters help offset the expenses. I personally foster and help in the store so I’ve had the chance to work alongside many of our incredible volunteers who make all this happen. Another aspect to Foster Army is their goal to spread humane education to as many people as possible. Involvement in community affairs is key to spreading the word about responsible pet ownership, someday making Riverside a no-kill community.
Foster Army has changed my families life in so many ways. We began with them about 5 years ago fostering two bottle baby kitties. We were hooked! We have fostered puppies, kitties, cats, digs, hamsters and even a gorgeous tortoise. They specialize in special needs animals which makes the experience that much more rewarding. Along with all the joys the animals bring us we also have gained a family of like minded animal loving friends! Thank you Foster Army!
I’ve adopted 3 of my animals from this rescue. I love that they help the animals that are most in need. I began fostering for them a few years back and ive made so many friends through this organization. The people behind it are truly amazing!
Foster army brought 3 of my furry babies into my life and took care of them by fostering them and loving them before I got the chance to meet them! I could tell how much Foster army loved what they were doing and the impact they were making so I decided to volunteer and foster with them! Best decision I made and I was lucky to work along side such wonderful and caring people who made such a huge difference in the lives of these animals.
Proud to volunteer for FAAR. They take in the most vulnerable animals. Fellow volunteers are so dedicated that they do everything they can for the agency: fostering the animals, working at the thrift store, and helping at the fundraisers and adoption events. There are so many ways to help the agency with their animal rescue mission, don't hesitate to ask how you can help. Every donation helps as well. There is an online shop on the website for those local to pickup, and an Amazon wishlist to help with necessary for the care of the animals.
If you have a soft spot for the most at risk animals in our Riverside community, and a willingness to volunteer, this is an excellent non profit organization to choose!
After retiring from public school teaching, I joined FAAR to volunteer in their thrift store raising funds for the animals. I quickly found a spot behind the register and from there joined their sewing circle, began fostering pets, twirled signs when FAAR had a booth at Market Night, and joined their board!
Now I encourage others to volunteer, foster pets or shop to help Foster Army Animal Rescue!
Foster Army Animal Rescue is an incredible non-profit organization. In essence, they rescue the underdogs...the animals that are not perfect...that are either underage, or have a treatable and/or costly treatment plan...and need longer term care. Volunteers are so dedicated, friendly and helpful...all with caring hearts. Overall, a great organization that is well managed and really makes a difference in saving animals.
This group has nothing but the welfare of the animals at heart. Great fosters are associated with them attempting to give all the babies in their care a chance at life and a chance for a “forever” family.
FAAR was founded with sacrifice, animals in need come first over everything else. I know that any time or money donated to FAAR is well spent and directly makes a difference in the lives of the animals.
Without realizing it, I shopped at FAAR's previous store, in a completely different location, without knowing who they were and what they did. Spring forward 4 years, I found them again and slowly got involved with their vision to save pets that just need some TLC to become adoptable. I have been working at the store for 2 years now. I am not able to foster any pets in my current living situation, so I volunteer my time to help pets. This store, visibility and leadership have risen to the challenge over the last 2 years from what I have seen and we are now ready to move into, hopefully, our forever home in the next month. We can always use new volunteers, whether for a few hours or all day, every day we are open. I encourage and greatly expect that after we move, we will be gathering more store volunteers to keep the ship sailing into brighter waters. Come and join us for our new adventure, in the old Marcy Library building!!!
I have worked with this team almost since their beginning and share their passion for helping that most vulnerable category of treatable animals. There are almost 5000 euthanized per year and with a relatively small investment in their medical treatment the majority can and should be saved. They serve a role in this community that others don’t and I am proud to be a part of the solution as both a foster and an adopter.
The folks here are very special. They show they care and belief in FAAR by volunteering and giving the most important thing any person can give...their time. I love coming here to see the many wonderful treasures people have donated so they can be purchased at unbelievably great prices to support this important lifesaving effort . I'd rather spend my dollars here than buying China trifles. Without FAAR, all the life connections (peeps to peeps & peeps to pets) could not happen and the world would indeed be sadder. Stop by with donations, purchase treasures, volunteer if you can or help in any way to keep this dream going. It saves little creatures whom without your help, will die.
I am a passionate volunteer working with this rescue. The reason I chose this rescue to give my resources of time and money is simply their mission and its people!! This rescue is all about taking those animals that are sick and/or injured and saving their lives!! Where I formally volunteered, they only accepted "highly adoptable" animals. I began to view their motives more about how they looked versus what was best for the animal. Foster Army Animal Rescue (FAAR) takes those animals that are about to lose their lives TODAY! If they are sick or injured, the organization embraces the animal and gets them the treatment they need. Fosters nurse the animals back to help while showering them with the much deserved love they need. When they are better, they then work to find the forever homes for these beautiful creatures. The leaders of the organization have their own skill and beauty of seeing the love in each animals eyes and looking beyond the judgement of sometimes initial behaviors and stories. Every soul means something and they do not shy working away with each of these beautiful souls. They also appreciate their volunteers beyond belief because they value the volunteers as the heart of helping the animals. A class organization, an amazing mission and a priceless experience for all humans and animals involved!
Foster Army Animal Rescue is a wonderful group! Its dedicated members save numerous lives of animals who are most at risk of dying in shelters. I have known some of the board members for 20 years. They have remained steadfast in their incredible efforts to prove that every life is precious and worth saving.
From the thrift store, to the adoption events, to the fundraising... Everyone involved has one goal in mind and that is to save animals. They save the animals that would otherwise be euthanized. This rescue goes out of their way to make sure that these animals go to foster homes and are raised with people while waiting for their forever home. I have donated to many other animal rescues and have never come across such loving caring people. Please support them in any way you can.
This organization has such an intense love for animals and feel a need to do everything they can to help. I am very pleased to know that there is a group out there that is saving animals on a daily basis. These animals are so lucky to be in the hands of these wonderful people. Thank you for all your great work!

I have been a volunteer with FAAR since 2015 and have enjoyed every minute.
They are the only Riverside non-profit who is committed to the Riverside Community becoming no-kill. FAAR is totally transparent with all their data and practices the Golden Rule to all their volunteers, donors, friends, etc.
They are a stellar example of human kindness and unsurpassed animal compassion.
Please consider volunteering, they are always in need of foster volunteers to help with their life saving mission.

Foster Army Animal Rescue (FAAR) is a foster only non-profit whose mission is to rescue at risk pets from animal control facilities and placing them in caring foster homes until they can be adopted into loving homes. A key requirement is raising funds to support medical/behavioral treatment, vaccinations, microchips, food, supplies, and spay/neuter surgeries. FAAR's goal is to partner with other animal welfare organizations to help Riverside become a no kill community. Since its inception FAAR has successfully rescued 457 pets.
My son and I are beneficiaries of the adoption services provided by FAAR. The newest member of our family is a 4-legged bundle of fun and love we call "Sidekick." His lovely Papillon-mix mother delivered him into the world last November. We were privileged to foster her and her 4 precious puppies over the holidays. At the end of that time, we knew we couldn't part with Sidekick. He was the only boy and the runt of the litter. We went through a very thorough adoption process with FAAR and once Sidekick had completed the appropriate shots, neutering and micro-chipping, he was returned to us. He has been a wonderful addition to our home. I can't say enough about the outstanding quality of treatment Sidekick received from FAAR and their dedication to the well-being of all the animals in their care. Thank you, FAAR.
My wife volunteers and fosters for this organization. I've come home to a litter of abandoned kittens. Another time to a dozen newborn puppies left in a box out in the middle of nowhere. I will never understand how people can be so cruel but I find comfort in knowing the Foster Army is dedicated to making a difference. Together we really can save them all.
I adopted Leo and Luna (formerly purrcy and willow) through FAAR. They are the sweetest and smartest cats I have ever had. You know that the were well taken care of and loved by their foster parents. I'm very thankful they were saved from the shelter by FAAR. I feel good donating to this group.
What this organization does...what these people do is nothing short of miraculous. The neglected, the sick, abused, the needy are all taken care of and given their deserved second chances for a forever family. I have assisted in small ways and donated. The most compassionate, loving and hardworking group of volunteers I have ever had the honor to work with .
I don't get to volunteer as often as I would like but when I can there's no place I would rather be. The organization has volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. I've never been involved with such a diverse group of people all working towards the same goal. The top priority is the animals and the events are complete fun. The animals in this organization are well taken care of.
