Mission: To educate, entertain, and expand the horizons of current and future audiences and artists through variety and artistic integrity.
Programs: Fort worth opera annually produces the fort worth opera festival each spring with multiple productions over three to four weekends that serve approximately 12,000 patrons each year. The festival features three different productions at bass performance hall, with other occasional performances at a secondary theatre, the mcdavid studio. The 2014 festival featured performances of "cosi fan tutte", "pearl fishers", and "silent night", all at bass performance hall with a total of eight performances. Ten performances of "with blood, with ink" were performed at the mcdavid studio.
the fort worth opera studio, founded in 2002, includes four young artists chosen from national auditions to be in residence with fort worth opera each year to continue their training as they prepare for professional careers. In addition to performing in children's opera theatre, the artists are assigned roles in festival productions, and receive lessons and coachings, language and movement classes, and classes on opera as a business.
children's opera theatre,has been in existence for over thirty years, it is the only touring opera education program in the state of texas, reaching over 40,000 students each year in the dallas-fort worth metroplex, as well as austin, waco, and communities in the panhandle of texas. Productions for the 2013-2014 school year used familiar stories paired with well-known operas to both entertain and educate children including "the ugly duckling" and "the three little pigs".
