I have been a foster and volunteer for the Humane Society for the past few years and have had the best experience. All the staff members are extremely knowledgeable and truly care about the animals. They are always available for their fosters, day or night. There have been many times that I have had questions or concerns regarding the health of one of the dogs that I am fostering and it is a relief to know that someone is always available to answer questions or examine the animal if needed. There is such a strong support system of compassionate individuals here. If you are considering fostering a dog or cat, I would highly recommend doing so through the Forsyth County Humane Society !!
Met the ED and shelter manager at a conference in Houston. Talked with them for quite a while, and we attended some of the same sessions. They are long time employees and very caring and dedicated to the mission of getting their cats/dog adopted.
Absolutely my favorite place to visit and shop for a wonderful cause. Matt is such a great manager and spokesperson for the organization. He always greets customers with a smile and asks how they’re doing. He knows the type of items I look for to collect. I ask for his advice and insight on everything from jewelry to vintage collectibles. He also is able to deal with complaints and occasionally with unruly customers. Now that takes talent! Mary is a great asset, too. She’s funny, personable and hardworking. Josh and Oscar are always so friendly and greet me every visit, asking how I’m doing or showing me something unique that is new on the floor. And jJamie likes showing me interesting finds. I love the way he brings pups in to be seen for adoption. I’m always telling people about the shop, the incredible donations and the wonderful staff. Highly recommend. 5 *****!
Forsyth County Humane Society is the best humane society our family has ever worked with. We adopted our puppy from this location from a wonderful foster mom. It was super easy and a great deal - I think we paid $500.00 for our baby boy and that package included all his shots and his neuter as well. We take him there regularly for his wellchecks and the clinic they have onsite is amazing. We can always get an appt with them and they send reminders for anything we may need. We also get our scripts for his heart worm meds and flea and tick meds too. I cannot say enough great things about this nonprofit. They are doing God's work!
We adopted our dog, Skyler, there in January 2023. We were very impressed with the care and knowledge of the dogs there by the staff. It was obvious they were loved. My son and I had an opportunity to interact with Skyler, as well as some other dogs, outside in their own play yards. They had plenty of room to run and play. Skyler is the second dog we have adopted from there and we would not hesitate to adopt from them again!
We adopted Ranger in April 2023. It was a wonderful experience. They made sure that all humans (and dogs!) living in the home were able to meet him before we officially adopted him. All the staff and volunteers were extremely helpful and answered all our questions at the time. They do a great job of making sure everyone is comfortable. Ranger has been the sweetest addition and is perfectly healthy too!
FCAS is a fantastic organization that not only helps animals, but also helps the community in Forsyth County. Its cat and dog shelter is very well run, and all of the animals receive excellent care. They have innovative programs such as their pet food pantry and SNAP- Spay Neuter assistance. It is a small, but mighty rescue that relies 100% on donations from the public. I would recommend this shelter to others.
The Staff and Volunteers are wonderful!
We rescued 2 kittens, they’re a little feral and we’re terrified getting into a carrier going for their shots and to be spayed. The FOCO Humane Society operates like a well oiled machine with a huge heart! They calmed me and treated the kittens with love, care and expertise. The prices are affordable for folks like us with a set income. Best of all, fees feed back into helping animals in need in our Community.
We highly recommend!!
I adopted my dog here 8 years ago. Then I started volunteering with cyber foster and socialization (dogs & cats). These folks love their furry residents and work hard to find good homes for each one.
I volunteer for the Forsyth County Humane Society. This is Queenie my cyber foster. I go once a week to visit and spend time with her. She is a real sweetheart. Queenie needs to be an only doggie so she is taking longer to adopt. It means so much to the dogs and cats at the shelter to get visitors and it will mean even more to you. Please consider volunteering.
We adopted our cat from HSFC and had a great experience! She was well taken care of before we got her and we were able to get shots etc taken care of for very cheap.
I've volunteerd with HSFC a few times and it's always been a pleasure! They do amazing work for the community and they take great care of the local animals and their owners.
Awesome customer service from these guys!
We were attended to beautifully and the staff helped us find our new family member we named Sky. My daughter named her that because she has one very light Blue eye.
They even gave us a high quality leash and coupons for food.
My family and I adopted two rescues from HSFC. We have also fostered numerous dogs from here. I have experience excellence customer care.
This is a the BEST place to find your new family member!!! Their pups are well socialized and employees know their Dodd personalities. They have a large outdoor area for your potential dog to meet and play with your family. I adopted both of my boys from them at different times and I couldn’t be happier! Their adoption fees are very reasonable! I will definitely go to the Humane Society of Forsyth Country if I need another dog to add to my family!!
I arrived at Forsyth County Humane Society with my boyfriend and his mother. I knew which kitten I wanted to see because I saw his picture on the website and read his description. After meeting him in the kitten room, I knew he’d be a good fit with me. However, we found that the kitten had a brother who he had bonded with. We asked the volunteer about adopting both the kittens, and she said it was ok. She walked us through all the paperwork and we brought both boys home. I’d recommend this Humane Society to anyone looking for a new furry friend.
One of our dogs passed away (she was 16 yrs old) and left our other dog, Marlee sad and lonely. We went to the Forsyth Human society thinking there was no way we would be able to find the perfect personality and buddy for Marlee, that would also fit into our family. As soon as we saw this fellow with his one blue eye it was all over (see pic). We KNEW he belonged with us. He was shy and timid at first but you can't be shy around Marlee for long... Within an hour they were best friends. We named him Oscar De La Renta because he looks like he is wearing a tuxedo. He also lays with his front legs elegantly crossed. Oscar is a wonderful, permanent part of our clan now. we are forever grateful to the Forsyth County Humane society for rescuing him from a kill shelter and allowing us the honor of adopting him.
I came to the Humane Society of Forsyth County looking for a dog to be my Emotional Support Animal. I had been searching for over a year for the perfect match. I had found my match there. I found a sweet and extremely scared pup. She can I have been working together to help each other and see her progress and become more open has made me feel so good.
Poppy (formerly known as Jugglypuff) was found I believe on the street with her four other siblings. Three of them were adopted pretty fast, but she and her sister stayed at the shelter for 3 months. Poppy had very little interaction with humans besides the people at the shelter. Everything in life was new when I got her. She went from never leaving her crate to pouncing at her treat dispenser.
It has only been two months, but she has made so much progress and a lot more to go still. I genuinely can’t remember life before her. She is my world and everyone knows it. I’m so thankful that I found her.
Our whole experience with adopting our little girl from HSFC was absolutely amazing! As first time puppy parents we were a little nervous about what to expect in terms of the whole process, but everything was so easy and smooth. It was also surprisingly quick! I signed up to adopt at around 10 in the morning, and by 7 that same evening, we were driving the newest member of our family back home with us! The foster mom we adopted through explained everything so well and allayed any concern, and answered every question we had. I’ve also brought our pup, Sita, to the clinic at HSFC and they have been so helpful, and are so kind with her, and patient with me and all the questions I have for them. Their adoption rates and clinic rates are also unbelievably reasonable! Overall we are incredibly thankful for the great experience we’ve had adopting from HSFC, and grateful for the chance to give such a wonderful girl like Sita a forever home.
I went in search of a friend for the dog we already had. The process was easy and the staff was so friendly. I love the relationship they had with the pup we were looking at. I am so glad we went! We found the perfect addition to our family!
We adopted our newest dog from them. The entire process was great. The fosters were incredible, and friendly. The actual adoption process was easy, and thorough to ensure animals are going to the right homes. You can tell the folks here, REALLY care about the animals in their care. 10/10 would recommend coming to The Forsyth Humane Society if you are looking for a furry family member!
