I am an Animal Control warden in Dixon, Il and personally know that this wonderful group has assisted numerous families with food, vet assistance and keeping their pets safe either with the families or with families willing to care for their Pets. They are consistantly working on helping families and pets and have assisted me with relocating pets from where I work(90 milesfrom Streator) that fell on hard times and were unable to keep or care for their Pets. Keep up the Wonderful work Karen!!! Barry DeBoor LCAC Warden, Dixon, Il.
If i could give them zero stars I would. They are supposed to be a non-profit, but they have people sign contracts to pay back "donations". Why on Earth would you be required to pay back a "donation" and who are you paying back? The "non-profit"? They collect funds and then make up excused as to why they then can't payout. Avoid them at all costs and go to a legitimate rescue that will help you, not themselves to your pet's donations.
Karen has a big heart and takes on some of the toughest cases with no reservation. She is fully committed to help families and their pets remain healed and United.
Her determination, compassion, selflessness and empathy is tireless. She is the heart and soul of this organization.
I'm proud to be a member of this group and would encourage everyone to join and feel the satisfaction of being able to help.

I found Karen (For the love of pets) on Facebook during one of her many missions to help an owner with their 4-legged family member. While I have never meant Karen in person, she is the most compassionate, carrying person that I have ever come to know. She walks the walk each and every day and never gives up when an family needs help, either for food or dire medical attention. She is the heart and soul of this nonprofit and many animals have been touched and helped due to this organization. She is humbled by each and every donation she receives for a family in need.
Karen is a wonderful and compassionate person. Her light shines way beyond expectations. I rescued a black lab that wondered into my yard. Apparently she was dumped . Being a senior, she was starting to show signs of aging. I lost my job when the company I worked for closed down. When she needed a vet visit for horrible ear infections. Karen graciously came to my rescue and helped cover the vetting she needed. She also helps a friend of mine with the need of pet food. Cant say enough good about her and the organization "For The Love Of Pets." Thank you for being there.
Very awesome for the love of pets they make sure to get other animals their forever home they rescue animals and always help in every way they can rather it’s them help pay vet bills or give food to ppl that need it for their animals this lady is great keep up the great work you ROCK!!!
Karen McCumsey and her organization, For the Love of Pets, has been a God-send to myself and others. I have assisted in rescues as well as giving food to the needy and their is nothing this organization won't do for animals and families in need. From paying for veterinary care to rescuing and finding homes for animals, FLP is an organization that will bend over backward to help. They give food for animals kept by elderly, underemployed, veterans and sickly individuals that wouldn't be able afford to take care of their pets. They are a place that is definitely needed in their community.
For the Love of Pets gave me my Moe ..or Moses ..He was a rescue, but he rescued me.... This non-profit has been there for me for over 7 years now ..I don't know how I could have kept my other pets when my husband passed if it were not for ..FOR the LOVE of PETS..tnx Karen M.!
I 1st fostered, then Adopted Moses..he right away became a service dog for my Husband who had seizures ...Moe grew too old though so we adopted Spirit a huge King Shepherd to be trained... ( he never got the gist of R's seizures, but he was large enough to pull Richard back up to a standing position when he fell) Moses passed away just 10 days prior to my hubbies passing, so Spirit became MY service dog for PTSD....
I am a client served and volunteer and champion of animal rights.....
This organization has helped several members of my family, my community, and even myself. They are a beacon of hope in this area and many families would be torn apart without them.
ForTheLoveOfPets has done some amazing things for our community, and others out of state as well, that's how far a small nonprofit can reach with dedication and love for what they do, and lemme tell ya, everyone at ForTheLoveOfPets loves animals, all animals, if it wasn't for them, a lot of pets and pet owners would suffer, I've seen some pretty amazing things, from this nonprofit, from re homing pets that otherwise would have been homeless roaming the streets or sent to kill shelters to die, helping with outrageous medical bills, and vaccinations, spayed, and neutered, they have done so much for our community and others.
I’ve seen this nonprofit in action, working to heal a severely injured dog and kept her with her owner. Wonderful organization, keep up the great work!
A very much a legitimate organization. I am volunteered my time to transport animals and I love the people. Karen McCumsey has done an excellent job with this organization and I hope it will grow within the next coming year. Great job Karen!
For The Love Of Pets is a wonderful organization!! The great things they do for the animals I can't say it enough how grateful I am for them!! Thank you For The Love of Pets
I have been a part of this organization for a few years now by volunteering my time in rescuing fostering and the transportation of animals and I find it to be one of the best that I have ever come across this is why I choose for the love of pets.
Have personally donated to this charity and I love the work they do. Specially when they helped a homeless men and his female pitt travel to FL & then to California for a better life, they both needed help so bad.
And recently a family that lost it all including their pets (pets had to be temporarily foster somewhere else) a minor tried to commit suicide when she couldn't see her pets and they stepped in and helped the family with expenses to reunited them all.
Or a poor baby whose neck was almost cut off due to a hunter's trap and family couldn't afford the treatment.
I could go on and on with plenty of cases. I've seen them change lives and that's what counts. They are awesome organization. Please continue the great work and supporting this great organization.
Love
Anna
I am so impressed by all the efforts of this charity. From helping with food, injuries/illness and reuniting lost pets. Good job !!!!
This nonprofit assisted from another state to save a life of a dog that had been shot in the face by a police officer. Without them, he wouldn't of been able to get care and most likely would have suffered longer or died. Thank you for being awesome!!!
My poor chi needed a surgery. They went from saying i was approved to refusing after raising all the money.Statibg that I made to much and owned my home.Which I told them thatvI owned from the start. When I offered to show my earnings by my tax returns they refused them. They would have proofed i was being honest and live at poverty level. Then they stated on a public web site that I was going to put down the animal to spite them.Which was total BS they were just trying to cover their butts.
Having met several in this group , and personally know Karen M, I can say I have never met a more loving, caring, selfless, drama free organization such as FTLOP! They stop at nothing to help the helpless. That means 2 and 4 legged. They are small but mighty and are wonderful people to boot!
Sincerely, Karen Randolph!
I was having trouble feeding my cats! A neighbor next door had somehow collected 12 furry kids and theses were furry catsLol Wekk this poor neighbor was overtaken in a fire started by hsome arsonist and he died from smoke inhalation. Well I collected up his cats and brought them to my house to stay! Well I called Karen and Marshal McCumsey and they helped me gfeed 13 cats until they slowly went on there way! These cats were feral cats and ate ran.lol I had Three of my own already ! I kept one of them! So after that i fed mine myself! We became very good friends. Even after a that she would bring a bag of food once in a while. She talked about some of the things she would have to do York other people and their pets ! They are a great place.amd without them I could have a disaster ! Thank you so very much Karen and Marshal and God bless you both❤️
For the Love of Pets serves a purpose unique to our financially trying times: keeping companion animals with the families who love them. Not only do they serve the animals in their community, they go above and beyond the typical animal rescue group by helping people faced with difficult financial issues provide food and medical assistance for their companion animals. NAVS is proud to have awarded FtLoP grants to help continue their important work.
I have had several occasions to call Karen. She has helped friends the same as she has helped complete strangers. She has done everything from helping with food to transportation or help with spay/neuter costs. Most recently, she rescued a dog from a potentially dangerous situation and made sure he got a good home. She truly cares for these animals and selflessly gives her time and funds to make our little corner of the world a better place!
For the Love of Pets, founded by the amazing animal activist, Karen McCumsey, is not only responsible for helping my family, but has saved countless lives, animal and human. Karen and her family work tirelessly at all hours of the day and night, to provide for families with pets that are in crisis, or just need a little help. Thru this unique nonprofit, hundreds of pets are able to stay with the families who love them. Without their help, many animals would have been put to death, for the simple fact that their owners are having a rough time and cannot feed them. Even worse, many elderly pet owners would go without eating, just to feed the companions they love. Thank you, Karen, and all of you who give your time and energy to For the Love of Pets, for saving keeping our pets where they belong, with those who love them! ~Marie~
For the love of pets is a great organization! I had found a young dog running the streets and found Karen through mutual friends. Even though she was out of town, she was still able to arrange help for this dog at night! I was so impressed and grateful for the help!
I cannot say enough good things about For The Love Of Pets!
Karen found me on facebook and even though I didn't know her.. we had friends in common. I'm so glad I clicked that accept button! She has been there for me 3 times that I can think of. One time when I needed some food for my cats. Another when I found a basset hound walking around lost. The most important time was when my dog got hurt so bad that she was going to need put to sleep. One of the worst things a person will ever have to do is make that drive to the vet to have your ill pet put to sleep. I called Karen for help to make that drive for me and by God.. She did it!
I will be forever grateful to her and her group. I've sent many people her way and she has helped them all.
I tried working with people and their pets and it is a heart breaking job. You have to be a special kind of person, that's for sure! Love her Group!
Karen McCumsey - For the Love of Pets is one of my Facebook friends. Back in the beginning of this year I decided to look for a pet. I noticed one of Karen's posting caught my eye. I called Karen and discussed what she knew about this dog. I trusted Karen's judgement and said I WANT HIM!! Karen made arrangements so that I could get him. Keep in mind, Karen is in Streator, IL and I am in Oak Lawn, IL. Almost 2 hours away. But She mad it Happen!!. We are so happy with our new dog!! His name is Jetson! Jetson if spoiled rotten, has his spot on the couch and at the end of the bed. He is now part of the family, like he has been here forever! Not sure what breed he is, but we do know he is now the best breed - "Rescued" . I would highly recommend Karen McCumsy - For the Love of Pets!!
When the recession hit our home became the zoo people dumped cats and dogs in the corn field next to our home. We found homes for some but went from 2 cats and a dog to at one point 2 dogs and 12 cats. Then my husband was laid off then my older kids finally myself. I was at a loss what to do for all the animals. Then I found the Love of Pets we would not be able to care for all the animals we have without them.I can't stop people from dumping there pets but wish they would try to find them homes .I have as of today 8 cats and 1 dog and have worked hard to adopt out the pets we rescue.God bless the Love of Pets hope they get the recognition and support they deserve. For The Love Of Pets is a wonderful non-profit organization that raises funds to help less fortunate people with their animal companions. They assist with veterinarian care and more. Without the aid of this group, many people would not be able to care for their pets appropriately. As the result, both humans and animals are very happy and healthy. Thank you, For The Love Of Pets, for enabling animals to be cared for by those people who love them.
I was honored to be invited to the Board right at the beginning. I have personally worked making deliveries, making food pick-ups from our suppliers, and transporting sick, injured, or abandoned animals to the veterinarians in our area that work with us for the care they need. It is a great feeling of accomplishment that I see the families that we have helped, to be be able to keep their furry kids with them or to help place an animal in it's new 'furever home'..
I am a volunteer with a local shelter. I want to speak about the importance of The Love of Pets to the community. For the Love of Pets helps keep pets in their homes. So many people are facing financial hardship and the last thing they want to do is give up their pets, their pets are part of their family. For the Love of Pets with Karen McCumsey at the helm helps families do this. I don't think people realize that not only is this beneficial to these families and their pets, BUT it keeps these animals out of the shelter that I personally volunteer at, and allows us the space to take in other animals in need that are not so lucky. So it fills a huge gap in our community. I also know that Karen helps the animal community in other ways, she is a person with a huge heart and works tirelessly to help people and their pets and also unwanted animals. I am happy to see that For the Love of Pets is part of the Great Non Profits family now and I hope this will be a benefit to this organization that is so greatly needed!
For The Love Of Pets has helped me for over a year by giving me food and treats for my Dog and Cat if they had not cared so much I would have had to get rid of them and as I am handicapped they bring me much love and compainship as a pet can bring. FTLOP has never turned away someone needing help they have even gone as far as using there personal money to buy food and things people needed for there pets. They never turn away a stray pet or a pet that noone can care for anymore. Many pets would have died if it were not for the kindness of this organization I beleive they care more the our own government cares.
Over the course of a few years, I have helped For The Love Of Pets by volunteering my time to their cause, and let me tell you, their cause is a great one. Throughout my time with For The Love Of Pets, I have seen many families helped, and have seen the impact that their assistance does have on these families. I have seen pets stay with their families, when otherwise, their families may have had to find a new home for them. I have seen strays find their way into loving families, and have personally helped with many deliveries, and have seen the happiness that even a little pet food can do for a family that has a beloved pet. Overall, For The Love Of Pets is a terrific nonprofit, and a very loving organization.
For The Love Of Pets is a wonderful organization, I've seen first hand how amazing it really is. Helping families that can not afford the every day expenses of a pet, without this organization there would be A lot of hungry and/or hurt furry loved ones around here. Thank you, Karen and keep up the good work!
For the Love of Pets is a great organization. In this tough economy this organization helps furry families stay together by helping human mom and dads with the cost of food, vet expenses, and in some cases foreclosure relief. I have witnessed first hand the happiness and stress release when families are given the means to care for there animals when they thought there only option is to give there furry children away.
