Causes: International, International Relief
Mission: To support students, schools, and families in rural haiti by providing tuition assitance, professional development, and family support.
Programs: This year far added 7 additional scholarship students bringing our total to 32. We provide tuition, supplies and room and board. We currently sponsor 18 k-12 students, 10 university students, 2 teacher inters, and 2 professional development coordinators. We continued our partnership with the university of redlands to provide 2 professional seminars for 48 teachers and our haitian coordinators for advance instruction. The eduation program for school families in sustainable gardening and animal husbandry expanded into its 2nd year or operation and a 2nd school garden began in another school. The building project in cherident was completed and a family home construction project will be completed in 2018. Regular support of 3 families continues.
For A Reason accompanies students in Haiti for the duration of their educational journeys. This might mean elementary and high school. It might mean professional training or university. It might mean rebuilding or relocating a family home. It always means relationships that look toward promising futures and build toward self-sufficiency and resilience for students, their families and their communities.
