Why would you leave puppies out in the open without supervision? Owls, hawks, coyotes, foxes, eagles etc. abound. Whoever was irresponsible in allowing the puppy to be taken by the owl should pay the vet bill, not the public.

I believe in Foothills Animal Rescue that I have volunteered for them for 19+ years!!!! We struggled in the beginning, but slowly, due to good people and the number of happy animals that have found their forever home, we have (in my opinion) have climbed to the top of very special Animal Rescues. People that have adopted from us or heard of us and want to adopt from us have nothing but high praises. Even people stop me when I am wearing my volunteer t-shirt and remark on all the good things that they have heard of our organization. I keep thinking that I should withdraw after this much time, but they do so much for the animals that I just want to stay and help all that I can. I am a volunteer, a foster, help in our boutique, Board Member., - I enjoy all of my titles and all the people that are a part of this wonderful Rescue..

I started my journey with Foothills Animal Rescue in 1999 and every time I think I may go another path, I get a phone call from this wonderful organization that there is a litter of kittens that need to be bottle-fed. or a mama dog or cat about ready to deliver babies or many others that need help in some way - either medically or socially. Since my second day with Foothills Animal Rescue, approximately 600 fosters have come thru our home and have found their forever homes. The feeling you get when you see an adoptive family with the biggest smiles on their faces when they are holding their future furry family member in their arms is sometimes overwhelming. Foothills has come a long way from 1999 and I am so proud to see what we have evolved into. Our staff and volunteers are so dedicated to always make sure that all animals are safe, healthy and loved.

We adopted our dog from Foothills Animal Rescue 5 years ago. They go above and beyond to support rescue efforts and are always there to take in pets who desperately need a home. They communicate effectively through emails and social media and do so much to bring awareness to the community about rescue efforts. When I retire I plan to become a volunteer with FAR. Plus, their facility is one of the best I've ever seen.

We love FAR! We rescued our beloved Buddy from FAR and have recommended them to others ever since. The people who work/volunteer there really care about the animals and about finding them good forever homes. I plan to volunteer there as soon as I retire! Also, their new facility is lovely and provides a wonderful environment for the cats and dogs.

I was the Architect for Foothills Animal Rescue....it began when my friends Gregg and Sharon Smith asked me to design a memorial for their Daughter Brynne who had been taken too soon from all of us. I was more than honored and knowing Brynne personally, it had to be special, because she was a very special young lady. Her love of animals and our desert embodied itself in the building which is a beacon in the desert.......sustain the memory of Brynne's life and the animals who would be taken in for a second chance in life.
Brynne had a saying in life: 831, which means 8 letters, 3words, 1 meaning....I Love you. These numbers appear cut out in the shade canopy above entry to remind us all of what it means to care about each other and the animals.

Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR) continues to do amazing work in our community. I appreciate that the dogs and cats at FAR are given one-on-one attention - each volunteer and employee takes the time to know the animals as if they are one of their own. The Brynne Smith Memorial Campus and Adoption Center in Scottsdale is absolutely beautiful! I never hesitate to send people there who are interested in adopting a pet.

FAR is an amazing rescue for dogs and cats that gets results. Recently built a new state of the art shelter, Brynne Smith Memorial Campus, with a generous founding donation, but the community in general is also highly supportive. Great paid star, very dedicated and knowledgeable. Excellent volunteered, and excellent reputation in the animal welfare community. This organization saves and enhances lives--human, canine and feline--every day.

I am so impressed with Foothills Animal Rescue. It represents everything that's good about Animal Rescue today! It has the best volunteers, is in an extremely supportive community, has an amazing leadership and staff team, continues to increase the number of animals it saves and adopts out every year! For over 20 years this organization has consistently improved its positive footprint in the Arizona community.

I started volunteering in 2014 in anticipation of my upcoming retirement. I choose this shelter for several reasons, animals were not caged and the staff was warm, friendly and cared for these lost pets as if they were their own. Would also like to mention that FAR funnels 95% of the donations back into the shelter and did not use money for excessive salaries, junkets or any other unnecessary expense that you see with larger State or National organizations. This really impressed me and I knew I had found a viable and dynamic rescue to support both financially and with my volunteer hours.

People would ask how I could work at a shelter and not bring each and every pet into my home? I advised that there is no greater feeling of contentment than when you match a cat or dog to their forever home and new parents, my heart smiles every time.

The new executive director that was hired in 2014 made all the difference in taking the shelter from a kitchen table outfit to a full blown non-profit business. Major improvements take time but everyone pitched together and adoptions, exposure and name recognition increased substantially.

Due to a generous family donation FAR is now in a new state of the art building that has been featured in multiple written and filmed venues. FAR is toured by groups in the rescue industry as well as the general public and they continue to adopt out more animals than ever before.

Even with increased adoptions the staff has not grown much and they still work long dedicated hours for the animals. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity or are interested in making a monetary gift this organization appreciates all that you do!

Sincerely,
Deborah Williams-Blood

I have been a volunteer at Foothills Animal Rescue for the last 5 years and have had the chance to witness both staff and volunteers in action. This includes spending many days and nights searching in the desert for lost companions, providing shelter and medical assistance to injured and sick dogs and cats and taking in neglected animals. FAR staff are exceptional in comforting the scared and confused fur babies upon entry to our facility and certainly go the extra mile to assure for the safety and security of all.

I started volunteering at Foothills Animal Rescue 1 1/2 years ago, as a dog walker and adoption coordinator. I was immediately impressed with the level of dedication and passion that the staff and other volunteers shared in caring for and adoption of ,the homeless dogs and cats. It's a fantastic charity, serving local communities , by not only saving the lives of many animals but enriching the lives of their adopters. My volunteer role evolved into event planning , fundraising and becoming a BOD member. Since FAR opened a new, state of the art, adoption center in Dec 2016, we have had an incredible increase in adoptions and volunteers. It's had a huge impact on the community, helping to educate many about the importance of animal care and rescue. I've been honored to be associated with such a wonderful charity.
