When I was disabled after a bad accident & could not work, Foodshare was my rescue. Gloria McAdam was my hero, telling me & my friend (who drove my car) how to get foodstamps, & good, gently-bruised food at low prices. I would have been hungry & destitute without Foodshare. Over time, my financial circumstances changed, & I am happy to donate to Foodshare.
Foodshare does an excellent job getting food to the needy. Salaries, wages, and other expenses are well under 20% of donations.
Review from Guidestar
A great non profit that consistently exceeds my expectations as a donor. I love their Thanksgiving drive the most. Keep up the great work.
Have been a Foodshare volunteer for 8 years, and as a professional social worker I constantly refer needy clients to them, also. The staff is amazingly dedicated - to them, it's much more than a job, it's a mission. The 2,500 volunteers are incredibly involved and many serve more than one function. I am continually impressed that 95% of their budget goes directly to helping people.
