What a great organization who is making a big impact in LA. I have been a volunteer with Food Finders for 2+ years now picking up and delivering food to partnering agencies. The experience of meeting the food donors and agencies is a humbling and rewarding. I am ever so amazed on how much food (over 8 million lbs in 2016 to be exact) that is diverted from going into landfills and goes towards humans. The amount of food, Food Finders picks up is still a drop in the bucket compared to what other food is out there. This is the best non-profit organizations in my opinion that is rethinking how we see food overages in the community.
I've volunteered for Food Finders for about 3 years. In this time, I've watched in amazement as they've fed literally millions of people. Run by a caring & very organized staff along with some awesome volunteers, this team takes food that would have otherwise been sent to a landfill, and gets it into the hands of the organizations and people who need it the most.
Their fundraising events are creative, fun, well attended and always successful. Food Finders keeps up with little-known food waste laws. This not only benefits millions of meal recipients, but the restaurants and other businesses that need to properly dispose of their extra food.
In addition to saving and redistributing hundreds of tons of surplus food each year, Food Finders is also a partner to "Team 100," a group of men in Long Beach that fund a "Food for Long Beach Kids" program (see http://team100lb.org).
Seventy percent of students in the Long Beach Unified School District are lower-income and qualify for in-school meal programs. Many of those students, however, miss meals on the weekends. Team 100 raises more than $100k annually and partners with Food Finders to deliver 20-25 bags of food to the district's 17 Title 1 elementary schools each Friday, so the neediest families in those schools have a bag of food for a family of 5 to last the weekend. The program, expertly administered by Food Finders, provides hundreds of thousands of meals annually to some of Long Beach's most economically challenged households. They are a FANTASTIC organization!
We are very grateful for Food Finders Inc. They have been there when our clients need food the must. They have supplied our food pantry with good quality food an d I am proud to be a partner with them. This helps put food into our community.
Food Finders is a good nonprofit . They have help a lot of people through the year.
Please help stump out hunger by donating to Food Finders .
We are very grateful to Food Finders for supporting our food pantry programs. They provide high quality donated food items. They have been providing food, including turkeys for thanksgiving, to our agency for almost 10 years! We are grateful for their partnership and our clients are grateful for the food!
Thank you for feeding children at The Youth Center and your ongoing support. We are blessed to partner with you! Food Finders Rock!
We are so fortunate to be in partnership with Food Finders. We have been receiving food from their sources for years and they never disappoint. The addition of pick ups of left over school lunches has been very beneficial and they do their best to help us provide holiday meals to our homeless friends and low income families. The people who work there are always kind and generous. They make the operation of our ministry so much easier.
As a person whom has worked for several years in the operations of a Food Bank within the greater Long Beach and Orange County Food Bank circuit, I can say with authority that no other contributor of repurposed food stuffs comes close in the magnitude of help given weekly to food banks of all shapes and sizes within these districts. Born from a vision started in a homeowner's garage some years ago into a multi-million yearly pound saver of foods destined for waste, Food Finders is the beginning of a revolutionary movement underway in our country to redistribute unsold foods to those in genuine need and those living below the poverty line. Please join myself and countless others involved in the movement and make a contribution to one of the most worthy grass-roots causes to emerge in many decades.
We serve 70-75 persons struggling with homelessness twice a week and we couldn't do it without the connections made through Food Finders. Food Finders helps us feed the hungry!
I am a social worker who serves over 200 extremely low income older adults in senior housing in Long Beach. Many of them can not afford fresh fruits and vegetables. Thanks to Food Finders they are now able to eat fresh food every week. Thank you Food Finders!
Diana and her team at Food Finders are remarkable! We called and informed that we were short of items for our distribution and they provided 2 generous donations on the morning of our Food Distribution. We are so grateful for Food Finders and their commitment to assisting our Food Ministry here in Long Beach. Words cannot express our thanks and may God continue to bless and watch over their organization. In addition, they make the additional effort to come by on the weekends and offer our Church fresh produce from our local Farmers Market! They care so much about our community and we praise them truly for their philanthropic effort.
We have a large home garden, with one 32 square foot bed that's dedicated to growing food for charity. We are happy to donate to Food Finders, who love getting 40 heads of fresh lettuce or a bushel of peppers from us. They keep overhead low so almost all of their donations go directly to those in need. They service a large number of agencies in the Long Beach area. Well done!

My husband and I have been volunteering for Food Finders since it started 0ver 20 years ago. We started out picking up food once a week and are now picking up food 7 days a week ( twice on Sundays ). We deliver directly to the agencies in need. At the present time we deliver food to 7 different agencies. Food Finders was a grass roots effort by one women that has grown over the years. I believe that Food Finders have delivered over 20 million pounds of food to the needy over the years. We have served on the Board of Directors for over 7 years and are passionate about the mission of Food Finders.
We were volunteers before we became members of the board. We have been a part of food finders for 20 years, ever since it was started as a grass roots organization. Not only does Food Finders rescue food and get it to agencies that feed people, they also will send people who call Food Finders to partnering agencies so they can get other help that they may be needed. Food Finders takes food to a variety of agencies too.
Great nonprofit! It's amazing what they do! Too much food is wasted in the world today and they're changing that!
Each week I rescue about 100 lbs of cooked food from he Westin Hotel Long Beach for the benefit of the 200-300 who take part in the Drop In Center program at the Congregational Chuuch. Direct hands on to those in need by volunteers who care in a great interagency effort.
I have worked for several years for Food Finders and fint it a very rewarding experience. We go to various locations and pick up exra food that they have and deliver it to organizations that feed the needy. When I go there to dliver food the people that are waiting for something to eat are always willing to help me unload. All I have to do is look at the faces of the men, women and kids to know what they are thinking. THANK GOD WE WILL HAVE SOMETHING TO EAT FOR MONE MORE DAY. That greateful look makes me so very thankful for organizations like Food Finders.

My friend Sheryl Worley introduced me to Food Finders in 2007 and started assisting her in her rounds. It was also at this time that I was doing Bible College and needed a practical ministry involvement. Food Finders came to mind. After the usual procedural steps, I was assigned a store and the places for drop off. There began my weekly journey of pickup and drop offs.
At first I only had one or two places for drop off but as provision would multiply, I would also receive more recipients. I was dropping off supply at food banks, community outreaches such as soup kitchen, different non-profit organizations or ministries serving the impoverished. It all depended on how much supply there was that day.
The work was very fulfilling that instead of stopping once my practical ministry classes were over and hours fulfilled, I continued on and on and on. It became a way of life. Volunteering became addictive that I added more volunteer work into my daily routine.
I had so much joy seeing faces light up when they receive free food or other services. Soon, casual relationships began deepening into real friendships. One kind act would snowball and duplicate itself.
Within two years the supply grew and drop off recipients multiplied. Two hours became 4 or 5 sometimes, depending on the bulk. I would also be called to cover for someone else, and I would oblige. Because of abundant supply and provision from others, another group of recipients developed: mothers with children and those temporarily out of work. Many from that group moved from being recipients to being volunteer helpers and who then gave back to others as they recovered financially.
The work was growing. It was at this time that my husband and I started involving others in the ministry that we were part of (Walking With Jesus Ministry CA). We were also able to bring in two other non-profit and religious organizations to help out as volunteers and also be the recipients so that the food can be distributed to the less fortunate in their churches.
We served three years and some months as volunteers until we recently moved away from the Southern California area. We miss the precious times of serving and the relationships and friendships that have been built. BUT, we hope we can serve alongside Food Finders again in the future. Maybe a WA State office can be established? ;-)
We will always treasure and carry in our hearts the joy of knowing that we are and were part of a common good.
We thank Sheryl Worley, my dearest friend who is now in New Mexico, for having invited me to serve with her!
We thank Food Finders, most especially, for having given us that opportunity to serve alongside them. What they do is life-saving!

As directyor of centro SHalom I have had many years of experience working with Food Finders, both with the individual volunteers and with Arlene. It is one of the few local agencies that actually practices what they preach. Through the years Food Finders hashelped us to distribute food to many low income hungry familes and individals. It would be difficult for us to provide ther services we provide without their help. Amelia Nieto Centro Shalom
