Causes: Food, Food Banks & Pantries
Mission: For more than 20 years, the mission of The Food Bank has been to serve as an efficient and effective provider of nutritious food to non-profit organizations that feed the hungry in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford and Wilton, while seeking to raise awareness of, and promote action to combat, hunger in those communities.
Results: The Food Bank distributed more than 1 million pounds of food to its member agencies and programs. at a savings to them of more than $1.6 million over the wholesale cost of the food. These agencies reported serving over 6 million meals to 335,398 individuals (unduplicated only within each agency) during this period. The Food Bank’s member agencies include Pacific House in Stamford; Malta House in Norwalk; New Covenant Center in Stamford; Jewish Family Services in Stamford; Person To Person in Darien, Norwalk and Stamford; Domestic Violence Crisis Centers in Stamford and Norwalk; Inspirica in Stamford; Faith Tabernacle Pantry in Stamford; Neighbor To Neighbor in Greenwich; and Abilis in Stamford, Greenwich, and Norwalk to mention just a few.
