I have personally seen what the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County has done for the folks in our community. Working with them has been an honor. They genuinely care about the citizens they serve - not just about making sure they receive food, but that they receive nutritional food and valuable tools in order to feed their families healthy meals in a variety of ways. Our Food Bank has a wonderful relationship with our area farmers, grocers and other agencies so that whenever there is food to donate, the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is at the top of the list. They are a blessing to all they serve and an excellent role model in teaching us how we can do better and more, even with less.

The Food Bank is a wonderful place. The fact that so many groups support and volunteer there is a testament to this fine organization. My family and friends always feel happy and productive after giving their time for those in need.

I come every month for 3 hours to sort food. I bring a group of 15 teenagers who love the opportunity to help and see that they can easily help get food to people. We inspect and sort the food so it can go out to people in need. The staff is friendly and truly caring! A great place to make a difference!

Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano provides much needed services to my community. Last month at the food bank in Antioch they delivered food to 582 families - up 82 families from November. The volunteers I worked with met the challenge of registering the families, filling and delivering the food in just two hours. It was a pleasure to volunteer and work for this amazing and much needed organization!

Organizing community service activities for my company has proven to be a challenge with varying interests and new non-profits emerging, but the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is my preferred and go-to organization. They've proven to be reputable, responsive, and honest; and as a donor I appreciate that. But we also volunteer there, sorting anything they put before us, which not only allows us as a company to engage with the community and see how the organization works and that it works, but it strengthens our team.

When I was looking to "give back" this holiday season, I did some research to find the most effective and reputable organization combating hunger in my area. Time and time again, I kept hearing about the great work being done by the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. This well-run organization distributes food directly to low-income people at community sites and also provides food to many shelters and other nonprofits serving the ill, needy, and infants. They have a great feature on their website called "Virtual Food Bank" that lets you shop for the most needed food items online, at bulk prices. Now I can donate those huge cans of beans without having to lug them to my car! I am proud to support this respected community organization.

Thanks Tara for that great review. We are very proud that 95 cents of every dollar donated goes to food programs. I wanted to let you know that we are in the process of updating our website, so hopefully things will be easier to find after the first of the year. We have a list of member agencies on the current site, but I agree it is not easy to find. Here is the link: http://www.foodbankccs.org/get help/memberAgencies.html in case you are still interested. Thank you again and Happy Holidays!
