The place was very dark inside and that made me think they must be hiding something. The woman I talked to was very rude. She stated that she had 18 cats and 3 dogs.
There was a particular cat I wanted and I was going to make an extra donation. I don't appreciate being talked to as if I'm a criminal. I would recommend any good person wanting a pet to stay far away from there.
I have taken care of many rescue animals in the past and I wouldn't think of treating anyone the way she treated me!
I think it should be called the Low Life society. Don't even think about getting a pet or donating there!
I had recently adopted a kitty from there after my beloved Sammie passed from cancer, took a while before my son and I to be ready for another cat to keep my Fawkes (other kitty) for being lonely. We went through the process of being approved and went in to see what kind of cat would fit best. The women I encountered were rude and not very helpful. One in particular tries to talk down to you. So we filled out the paperwork after deciding on a cat. I was told that if for whatever reason it didnt work out that I could bring her back and it wouldnt be held against me. We had her a little over 2 weeks and things seemed to be going good until a few days ago when she viciously attacked my other cat and my son! My cat and the other cat had to be kept in separate rooms. The attacks were so loud my nieghbors could here it, Fawkes is declawed and cant defend himself. So I called the facility and they couldnt seem to understand why I wanted to being her back. So we did, I was told no refund, so I'm out $$ and I after I had to fill out surrender papers I was told it was up to the board whether It will go against me Really?? The people there are very rude, when you show up with an appt you have to call to be let in even though they see you standing outside in the cold! I was going to make a donation for the holidays, but not now! I will go elsewhere! Taking the cat back had me in tears i felt so bad about it, and these people made me feel like i was just dumping an animal!
I've been involved with the shelter for many years now; first just as a donator. Then, we adopted our wonderful boxer mix puppy from the shelter in 2005. From there, I became more active. . .and took over the golf outing fundraiser in 2008. . .and became a board member in 2009! Everyone at the shelter is very passionate about the animals, and do what is necessary to care for them until they are placed in a forever home. It's serious business--they want to ensure that the animal is placed in the best matched home for it! And in the end, that's what all of us involved with the shelter want. . .the animals to have the love and security of a family and home :)
Rebecca Edwards Oh and they were so rude down there! They swear they left me a VM... I have NO record of them on my call log and NO VM from them. I told them the parking lot looked trashy with all the cigarette butts and employees smoking in the parking lot. I don't think they liked that all too much.... She also is having a hard time breathing and smells like urine and feces... Nice job FDL humane society!
