I cannot say enough about this wonderful family and their farm!! Skye and her family were an absolute blessing in a time of need. My Mom and I live along the gulf coast where Hurricane Michael hit. It destroyed her house and she had to move into a small tiny house while she picked up the pieces. Skye and her family were kind enough to take in her pet cat, Poppy and her Catalina Macaw Parrot, Papaya, during the transition period. Skye’s son and Papaya bonded like no other and she decided to leave Papaya with Skye and her family, to be it’s forever home because they were so happy together. Poppy was well cared for and happy as ever when she returned home to the gulf coast. We just cannot say enough about what a wonderful family and beautiful sanctuary they have created. These people are truly angels!
What an absolutely fabulous, caring group of individuals! So much more than just pigs! Donkeys, cats, chickens, ducks, dogs, and more! These folks work hard and truly love every single animal under their care. The farm tours are fun and interactive too!
Absolutely amazing nonprofit, always putting the needs and care of the animals first. Please consider donating something off of their Amazon wish list.
I had the opportunity to volunteer with the Flying Pig Sanctuary several times learning that they rescue pigs that are in need and the pigs stories as to how they came to the sanctuary. Well worth the trip.
I have been volunteering regularly with Flying Pig Animal Sanctuary for a little over 3 years now. I have volunteered with everything from digging holes and cleaning to helping plan events and leading tours. The animals, the people, and this piece of earth hold a special place in my heart.
Flying Pig Animal Sanctuary is a place where animals who have been exploited, neglected, abandoned, have had a rough time in life or who don’t have anywhere else to go; can live out their lives in peace. A place where they are seen as the individuals they are, and never as disposable. Everyone here has a name and a story. Day in and day out the founder and director, Skye, is there for them, she cares for all the animals like family. In making her dream of rescuing animals a reality she gives them a real life happily ever after.
This Sanctuary is made possible by good people with huge hearts; and I am honored to be a part of it.

I discovered Flying Pig Sanctuary several years ago. The animals are so loved and well cared for. They are always looking for ways to improve the facilities and enrich the lives of each rescue. It is easy to see how much the owners and all the volunteers love Flying Pig Sanctuary. I highly recommend them to anyone who cares about farm animals and all animals in need.
Oh my goodness, where do I start? There are so so many good things about Flying Pig animal Sanctuary! When I arrived the very first time, I didn't know what to expect. But once we got in the swings of things it felt I had known everyone for a lifetime! They welcome you with open arms ❤ for anyone needing to get away and help out check out Flying Pig Animal Sanctuary and help out some amazing people!
I LOVE THIS NONPROFIT
FPAS is a farmed animal sanctuary, meaning that the organization's mission is to spread awareness and empathy for farmed animals and to teach the community about cruelty-free, vegan options to traditional living. That being said, anyone needing a safe place to land is welcome at FPAS. Cats, dogs, birds and even an African tortoise have found refuge at FPAS alongside the "traditional" rescues of pigs, goats, chickens, peafowl, ducks, and more.
As a volunteer, I have witnessed the sanctuary's director, Skye, serve our community with integrity and an unwavering commitment to the animals in her care. I'll admit, she has saved animals that I thought "too far gone". If all people lived their values the way that Skye does, the world would be a better place.
FPAS always puts the animals first. If an animal doesn't want to socialize they are never forced to. Skye is quick to remind sanctuary visitors that "this is the animals home" and "we are not a petting zoo". This was very important to me when I was looking for a rescue to support.
The animals at FPAS (over 100 and counting), are met where their needs are: medical, social and behavioral. I have seen Skye put her own needs aside to make sure the animals needs are met. All animals who come to FPAS have a permanent home, as long as it is in their best interest. I.e. some dogs shouldn't live next to pigs and chickens ;) Skye is also always on call for other sanctuaries who need help transporting an animal or with rescue efforts.
Animal rescue is never ending. Skye and her team do an amazing job caring for the animals. I encourage anyone reading to get involved! Come visit, volunteer, donate, come join the FPAS family!
The live up the street from me not only are they rescuing critters also they are installing some
native vegetation to help local pollanaters love their work
How do I begin? ...well hopefully somewhere between 150-300 characters. Skye is brave, compassionate, and strong as hell. By supporting her and her organization of killer community folks, you're supporting quite literally hundreds of lives - human and animal. She rescues anything and anyone who asks for her help including (but absolutely not limited to) goats, pigs (in every size and shape), fowl (also parrots!) cats, dogs, and the list continues. The fact that we have people like her and the community she has cultivated in our small part of the world is truly heroic.
I have been a volunteer at Flying Pig Animal Sanctuary since long before they ever got their 501(c)3 non-profit status, so when Skye asked me to be on the Board of Directors I was happy to accept! We have been on many sanctuary adventures together and always make the best of any situation, from rescuing animals to taking trips to get donated supplies. Her and her family live what they preach to never eat animals or animal products and they treat all life as precious no matter how big or small. I would encourage anyone and everyone to plan a visit to the farm and to follow them on social media to see all the animals!
I visited this sanctuary twice, and every time I have a great experience. All the animals are very well cared for; Skye treats the animals with respect—the place and atmosphere was very inspiring to embrace the plant-based diet and treating animals as family.
I've personally known the owner and founder of Flying Pig Animal Sanctuary At Hippie Chick N Farm for the last 6 years. Over the years, not only has our friendship grown strong but I have personally grown in my knowledge of animal rights and the knowledge of the abuse that all these beautiful creatures have gone through, unnecessarily, I might add. I have participated in events that have help educate our community and I am honored to continue the journey with them. I have slowly learned all about rescuing and the hard selfless work it takes this sanctuary to keep it going daily. The children in the home are also well educated in all ranges of animals and have taught many community members what human compassion for animals looks like. Please help this Sanctuary continue to provide services to animals all over North Florida and South Georgia Area.
