Flourishing Families helped my husband and I gain the specialized, trauma-informed parenting skills we needed to parent children from hard places. The skills we learned here helped us have compassion for foster and adoptive children and really understand how their brains are affected by trauma and what kind of support they need to grow. The kind of training provided by Flourishing Families is practical and personalized to our family. They have been an invaluable resource for us. We believe in Flourishing Families so much that I now volunteer as a board member so I can help bring this service to other families!
I attended a training on Trust Based Relational Intervention and it was very informative and engaging, even though it was virtual. The presenter was knowledgeable and it was cool hearing parts of her family's story and how she can relate to TBRI. It was one of the best trainings relating to foster care that I have been a part of!
The coaching from flourishing families have provided my family with the trauma focused support we were searching for. We failed in so many ways using traditional parenting and we have grown stronger as a family with flourishing families as support.
As the grandmother of a special needs young boy adopted from a foreign country, I was so glad to have the training provided by this organization. Their classes opened my eyes to things I would ever have considered when dealing with behavior issues. The classes are amazing!
So thankful for Amie and Flourishing Families! They serve parents who care caring from kids from challenging backgrounds with so much hope and understanding! We love referring our families and community partners to Flourishing Families.
They sponsored the Trauma-Informed training I needed to look at my own personal history and the histories of kids from hard places with both compassion and firm parenting care.
We have been fortunate to attend the TBRI training and have Amie help us in our home. Amie is a wealth of practical knowledge. She and her husband live this life and know that some days it's hard to do it just right, but she encourages, highlights the positives and is completely real about the struggles adoptive and foster families face. She helped us see the child's needs not just the child's behavior. I wish I had Amie and Flourishing Families in my corner when I adopted my first. Now I know better and so I do better for my youngest. Truly Amie and Flourishing Families are changing lives and helping families "flourish."
We decided to take a TBRI class to help our current foster daughter with her emotions. This training was life changing. I wish I had know about this training 5 years earlier to help my bio daughter. This training gives you tools for succeeding, hope for the future and results. I can’t say enough positive things about TBRI training (besides that it should be mandatory for all current foster families, bio parents and anyone working with children from hard places.
The resources and training we have received from Flourishing Families has made a huge difference in our understanding of trauma and how we parent. We feel more equipped to help our kids, and we’ve seen big differences in behavior. We are so grateful for this organization!
My husband and I went to a TBRI training given by Amie with Flourishing Families. I wish I had known about this training sooner! It would have helped tremendously with the 70+ teenagers we have fostered so far. It was a 5 hour training, but Amie did a great job keeping things interesting and informative. This training is a must for caregivers of those who have been abused, neglected or other trauma.
Flourishing families helped us in a time of desperate need. Amie validated our feelings and our struggles. She connected with us and our children, providing us with the skills we need to be therapeutic parents. Even long after our TBRI training, she has been a continued support.
I went to a TBRI training that Flourishing Families hosted last summer. First, it was very affordable which was a VERY pleasant surprise for our family that inlcuded child care. It was engaging with necessary information to help support my work as a foster parent. They were wonderful with answering questions on the fly and giving practical examples - because they are foster/adoptive parents themselves. That's the best part. They are in this with us.
Flourishing Families of SC provided a training event that gave our family hope. At the time we we were already almost 6 years post adoption, and we were feeling hopeless and stuck. We benefited from learning more about the sources of some of our kids' behaviors and some of the ways we were responding in the wrongly. It was so nice to be around a group of people who understood the unique challenges to our adoptive family.
