The Florida Singing Sons Boychoir (FSSB) is an ensemble of young men's voices with at least one section comprised of unchanged voices.
As a community-based music education program regardless of religious, social, cultural or financial background, FSSB continues a unique tradition, one of the estimated 150 Boychoirs in the US and in its 40th year of its Music Literacy Education Program, FSSB continues to develop four choirs delineated by maturity of the boys' voices and musical achievement. FSSB's educational outreach programs will reach thousands of 3rd and 4th grade boys in Broward schools and in the community.
As many as 100 may be invited to join the choir. These school-based and community sites programs introduce children to exciting, curriculum-based choral programs. As choristers progress through Training, Residence and Concert Choir as well as Second Generation Singers, they learn vocal production, sight singing, music history, music theory, performance decorum, and stage conduct at weekly rehearsals as well as intensive Vocal Training Camps.
Members achieving Full Chorister status demonstrate music theory skills comparable to those taught at the college level and are strong candidates for college scholarships. An opportunity to showcase the choristers' music education achievements, FSSB presents a minimum of four public Mainstage Concerts. Community Outreach Concerts include full-scale and mini concerts and choral services, while contracted events take choristers throughout Florida for special event performances, while producing earned revenue.
Summer 2016 will celebrate an International tour; tours and festivals provide unparalleled educational and cultural experiences for choristers from all walks of life.
