Warning: do not apply to this place if you don't have Medicaid. They recently were able to bill Medicaid for services through a third party and have been kicking out all of the girls who do not have Medicaid. For instance, they have you set three goals every 12 weeks and if you do not complete your goals you are kicked from the program. I was set up for failure. The CEO said one of my three goals needed to be that I got on Medicaid and it didn't occur to me at the time, but I had been applying for Medicaid for over a year and was told every time that I did not qualify. So in other words, either I got on Medicaid somehow or I'm kicked from the program. If you have Medicaid, this program is a wonderful thing and I think that you could most definitely benefit from it. But only if you have Medicaid! They want to be able to bill Medicaid for their "services" and if they're not getting something out of it then neither are you. Do not think that they are doing all of this for you out of the kindness of their heart. They have plenty of donors who donate to keep the program running but they want to be able to put more money in their pocket and the way they do that is by making sure that every mom in the program is on Medicaid. Again, if you do have Medicaid and you're somehow able to keep it throughout your time in the program, then this program would be a really good thing for you. If you don't have Medicaid or you don't qualify for Medicaid, don't even bother because they are not going to accept you.
I was one of the lucky ones! I lived at Resurrection House for a year. The tools I learned there helped me to make a better life for me and my son. I now have two college degrees and am a home owner. It's been 7 years since I completed the program and I still look to them with so much love and gratitude in my heart! If you are considering giving, please do and know that your help really does make a difference!
