Programs: Research: the florida research consortium completed the second in a series of reports analyzing the importance of innovation elements to the economy. Dl=0commercialization: in 2015 the florida legislature approved operational and seed funding for the institute for commercialization of public research, but the funding was vetoed by the governor. This initiative promotes the commercialization of research through company creation and development. The legislature also funded several independent research institutes and various translational biomedical research programs. Education:in 2016 the frc continued a comprehensive campaign to promote the value of the elements of an innovation economy: research/ideas, capital/commercialization and talent/people. A weekly electronic newsletter outlining the success of florida university and research institute successes in discovery and commercialization was continued, committee testimony regarding commercialization opportunities and presentations to influential organizations were given.
