Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Food, Nutrition, Physical Fitness & Community Recreational Facilities, Sports

Mission: FLIPANY is a local non-profit which addresses health and education disparities to the underserved areas in Florida. Our mission is to empower youth and their families through physical activity and nutrition education programs, raising awareness and creating policies for a healthier community. We are the Florida lead partner for Share our Strength’s Cooking Matters Program. Cooking Matter’s collaborative program model connects families with food by teaching them how to prepare healthy, tasty meals on a limited budget. Along with Cooking Matters, we also do a Cooking Matters at the Store tour, A 90-minute grocery store tour to guide participants to make the healthiest choices possible at their local supermarket. Participants learn key skills, such as, how to read food labels, understand ingredients, shop on a budget, find real whole grain foods and understand the marketing behind food products. Besides healthy food demos, we also provide afterschool nutrition education, Mommy and Me Nutrition courses, Physical Activity Programs, and a Earn a Bike Program. I invite you to visit our website at www.flipany.org to learn more about certain programs that might strike your interest.
