Mission: Florida greenways and trails foundation, inc. Exists to support the mission and programs of the florida department of environmental protection's office of greenways and trails as it continues toward establishing a statewide system of greenways and trails for recreation, conservation, alternative transportation and the economic benefit of tourism.
Programs: Florida greenways and trails foundation, inc. Was successful in strengthening strategic partnerships and reaching out to other trail and greenway related organizations; building public awareness of regional trail connectors prioritized by the office of greenways and trails through presentations and public meetings within florida; and working with local communities, metropolitan planning organizations, regional planning organizations, and other agencies of state and local government to advocate for and help promote a statewide system of paved, off-highway bicycle and pedestrian trails. In addition, the foundation expanded its strategic alliances with florida business and healthcare organizations; promoted the system of trails proposed and prioritized by the office of greenways and trails council; worked collaboratively to advance the suntrails system; and educated the people of florida on the economic, health and environmental benefits of greenways and trails.
